ANYWAY since my last post was upsetting, here’s a cute one; he’s always kinda gave the impression that if he owned ANY kinda of neat animal friend, like digimon or pokemon or whatever, he’d definitely own the ones that are awful and sad to start with but get way stronger and cooler later. like, i’d honestly peg him as the guy to own a really sad feebas, only to show up months later with a big, scary milotic. that kinda thing!

I just saw what happened, and I gotta say... speaking as a horror artist that draws realistic guts for fun, as someone who’s dissected fresh organs and held a brain in my hands on my (now defunct) path to working in medicine, it’s really darkly funny to me that people like that are using content that may not actually be upsetting at all to some people, trying to be like “does this BUG you oh gosh think of what YOUR content does to US”. It just brings up the whole “why is gore not as bad to you as s x is” argument, like, why be okay with the existence of slasher films and the like that millions of people pour money into making as realistic as possible, but some usually very UNrealistic drawings or fics on the internet get you riled up? (And I’m only censoring it to try and beat the system, for the record. Still absolute bullshit that Tumblr does that.)

And on the other hand, speaking as someone who lived through the shock video era of the internet, it’s even funnier that they think this’ll do anything. That this will actually change things. People used to link each other real footage disguised as nice things for a laugh all the time, no warnings or anything - think like Rickrolling but with accidents (or worse). Some circles STILL DO. You don’t know what the other person on the other side of the screen has seen or gone through.

The hell do these people think it’s gonna do? Change people’s minds? Like being slapped in the face with something gross will make them see ✨the error of their ways✨or something? Like, in the cosmic scheme of things, they really think they’re making some kind of impact by spamming people with this shit? Like they’re some kind of hero of the people for doing what gross dudes on Reddit do to tease each other on the daily?
