We’re trying out a new pressure system. Your floating island starts to crumble over time and you can stabilize it by reaching out and connecting to monoliths.
Pretty certain these should not be moving like this. #gamedev #stugan

INDUSTRY!
We added a notification system, this should help clear some things up. Obviously, Something happened?
A game about piecing together floating islands to form a floating city. Management games and city builders are some of my favourite types of games, and (as you might have noticed) I’ve tried building them more than once. This game however, really struck a chord with me. I love the idea, I like how how the prototype turned out and I’m excited about the game. I’ve made a lot of games with my friends from QCF, but this is my favourite. You can definitely expect to see more of this game in the future.

Yesterday was build day for our team at #stugan :) Here’s a little of what Kingdom in the Sky is looking like now ^_^ (at Bjursås)
Stugan and the tale of the hard drive gremlins
Imagine, if you will, being thousands of miles away from home, in a little hamlet of cabins tucked away in the Swedish mountains. Three of you working on a videogame, when all of a sudden, one of you turns to the others and says “… My PC won’t start…”
This happened about midway through week three. Dorianne’s machine decided that booting was not something it was prepared to do. So began the mad scramble to first try restore, then try refresh (which worked for all of a day), and then eventually boot into a flash disk with Linux, format the machine, scan for bad sectors, and re-install Windows.
Everything seems to be up and running again, but man, the scare of thinking your artist may be unable to produce for the rest of the 4 weeks you’re going to be here is … harrowing.
In other news, the game is coming along nicely, with every day moving it into a better and better state. We’ve got a little internal deadline for this evening, so some of you may end up getting to try the latest build :D
I’m really enjoying the shared workspace here at Stugan. Getting to interact with people working on their own projects, with their own problems is juuuuuust distracting enough to make every day a little adventure, without pulling me away from making our own game better.
Stugan, week 1
The first week at Stugan has come and gone. What a time!
As we all start to really sink our teeth into the work, it’s become apparent that while everyone here is definitely willing and able to have fun (board- and videogames, oh my!), we’re all dedicated to getting as much “game” out of Stugan as possible.
We’ve developed some interesting habits already: Like doing a stand up scrum meeting every morning at 11:00 to talk about what we got done yesterday, and what the plans are for today. I love this, because it keeps me focused on what I want to achieve for the day, and lets me reflect on whether I got what I wanted out of yesterday :)
Evenings are filled with the fun I mentioned earlier, where a gaggle of game devs will descend upon a cabin, dump their shoes in the entryway, and huddle around a table playing one of a number of boardgames. This is accompanied by drinking, snacking, and laughing out loud into the small hours of the night … while it’s still light … because North.
Our game (tentatively named Kingdom in the Sky), is coming along nicely, and we’re hoping to have a playable version by the end of the week, at least to the end of tier 1 of the tech tree.
Can’t wait to see people play it!
