Guys, friendly reminder that if you have any suggestions, ideas, scenes, or universes you'd want to see the pookies in, don't be afraid to ask. I don't charge for requests, and I loooove to see what's on this fandom's mind! 🤭
You know I'm a tevan artist, but it can be crossovers, add any character in any universe, the imagination is the limit (some of the most loved pookies came from requests people made)
I want to write a fic where Buck and Tommy are housemates—there was a small overlap in their time at the 118 when Buck starts, just a few weeks or so and Buck is already tired of living with all his housemates and Tommy has room to spare and could use the income because flight hours aren’t cheap.
Tommy definitely falls first, he never really stood a chance. Evan terrifies him; he’s loud and impulsive and unapologetically himself. He commands attention and adoration. He’s an exhibitionist and he shows off, feeding off of Tommy’s attention and attraction like he needs it to survive, even if he isn’t going to do anything with it except stroke his ego.
Buck doesn’t yet realize he’s bi, but he also isn’t instantly attracted to Tommy. He recognizes that Tommy’s hot, of course, and even tells Tommy on several occasions (though this usually has more to do with how it affects Tommy rather than Buck needing Tommy to know that he thinks so).
Buck is--by most measures--an absolute menace. He's not a bad housemate, he's just maybe a little bit bad for Tommy's sanity. He shamelessly flaunts his body, struts around naked, flexes when he knows Tommy's looking his way. He's loud, and maybe a bit performative, when he masturbates.
He knows when to give Tommy space, though it takes a lot of trial and error to learn. Otherwise, he's in Tommy's space--touching him, sitting in his lap, kissing his cheek, sitting on the counter top while Tommy cooks, barging into the bathroom when Tommy's showering to piss or brush his teeth or just talk and on a few occasions getting in the shower with him because they have 1 bathroom and Tommy's taking too long.
Tommy doesn't complain when Evan can't sleep and comes crawling into his bed, when he has to be touching some part of Tommy (and more often than not it's his fold feet on Tommy's legs, which Tommy does complain about but it never does any good).
Their relationship isn't exactly easy to explain to the guys Tommy dates, though the ones that don't ask him to usually last longer.
Buck isn't jealous when Tommy brings guys around because it isn't like that between them (though maybe it’s also in part that he knows nobody will ever have Tommy the way he does)
Still, they both date and fall in love and sometimes it's good, great even, and they're still them through it all.
Tommy's loved every version of Evan, even the ones that he can admit would have been a nightmare to date (not that he gives it that much thought, of course). He's never felt that what they have--what they are to each other--is not enough because Evan is so much in all the best ways and no love between them could ever be a waste.
They've been living together for about 6 years, give or take (Buck moved out on a few occasions to live with a girlfriend or on his own, but he always ended up coming back) when Buck looks over at Tommy from the opposite end of the couch--Tommy has his nose in a book while Buck's been scrolling on his phone.
"Hey," Buck says.
Tommy looks at Buck over the rim of his glasses and it makes Buck's stomach flutter. "What's up?"
"I love you."
Tommy's brow furrows. They say it to each other often, but not usually so out of the blue. "I love you too."
Buck exhales through his nose, just short of a laugh, and shakes his head. He scoots closer to Tommy until he's close enough to cup his cheek. "No, Tommy. I love you." He tries to emphasize it differently, to make Tommy understand, but it sounds the same as it always has. So he kisses Tommy instead. Softly. Slowly.
Tommy swallows. “Oh. How—how long?”
Buck worries at his lip. “I don’t actually know. Is—is that okay?”
Tommy’s face softens and now he’s the one to cup Buck’s cheek. “Yes, Evan, it’s okay.”
They kiss and breathe each other in and dissolve into giggles and then they go right back to what they were doing before.
And Tommy is terrified. Evan may have just realized he loves Tommy as more than a friend, or maybe he just felt it for the first time, but in all the years they’ve known each other, this is the first time Tommy has allowed himself to want and he does--he wants so much.
They take it as slow as two people who have been living together for almost a decade feasibly can. They do what feels right for them and they talk about the rest.
But that question--how long?--it echoes in Buck's head, like a song he can't get rid of. But he doesn't mind, even if he doesn't have a definitive answer. Even if he has 100 answers.
They're brushing their teeth side by side, over the single sink, as they get ready for bed one night. Buck spits in the sink and wipes his mouth. He catches Tommy's eye in the mirror. "Since you took 4 weeks of vacation to take care of me when my leg was crushed."
Tommy frowns around the toothbrush in his mouth, says a garbled, "what?"
"That's how long." Buck doesn't know if it's the most absolute truth, but right here, right now, it's the truest thing he's ever known.
Tommy spits and rinses and puts his toothbrush away. He kisses the corner of Buck's mouth. "Okay, Evan."
One morning Tommy's making breakfast while Buck watches from his perch on the counter and steals slices of bacon as fast as Tommy cooks them. "The night we did karaoke with Chim and my sister, when we sang 'Take Me or Leave Me.'"
Tommy shakes his head and laughs, plucks the bacon from Buck's greedy hands and kisses him.
It's their one year anniversary and they're getting dressed (for the second time) to go out to their favorite restaurant and then to a play. Buck adjusts Tommy's tie and smooths out his suit jacket. He must stare a little too long because Tommy gives him a look that says don't you dare try to start something again. Buck just smiles and presses his thumb to Tommy's chin. "My first day at the 118 when I walked into the station and you did a double take and walked into the fire engine."
Tommy purses his lips. "I'd really hoped you forgot that."
"Not a chance."
"It definitely has not been that long."
Buck shrugs. "Who's to say?"
6 months later they're planning their first vacation together, sitting together in bed with Buck’s laptop on both their laps. Buck takes Tommy’s hand. “Sometimes it feels like I’ve loved you forever.”
“Yeah, me too.” Tommy squeezes his hand. “But you know it’s okay if you’ve loved me for two years. I couldn’t ask for more.”
“If you did ask for more, I would give it to you.”
“Well, we can’t change the past—”
“I’m not talking about the past, I’m talking about the future.”
“Okay…”
“It already feels like we’ve loved each other forever, so why don’t we make it official.”
“Evan, what are you saying—”
“I’m saying…let’s make this trip our honeymoon.”
Tommy laughs. “How long—have you known about the ring?”
“I found it a week after you bought it, so—six months?”
“Is this you saying yes?”
“Is this you asking me?”
Tommy brushes his thumb over Buck’s ring finger. “Yes, Evan.”
an idea for pookies - going to a sunflower festival every summer once they’re back together- it’s where the proposal happens, it’s where they take pictures to announce their new family, pics with kiddos, etc 🌻
Awww so lovely i love proposal multiverse🤭🤭 we can make it work🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
