body & blood is an 18+ horror-mystery comic about an isolated christian commune, its abusive leadership, and the innocents and not-so-innocents caught in the crossfire. hidden away in the wilderness, a compound of religious fundamentalists known as the kingdom of heaven on earth prepares for the imminent second coming of christ according to the teachings of the preacher warren carmine. but when the young outcast ash moriah flees the compound for the surrounding woods, he learns of unexplained disappearances among warren’s flock. he resolves to find the missing worshippers and uncover the key to his own freedom, even if it means reckoning with the bloody secrets of his past. oh, and everyone is an anthropomorphic dog person. because why not.

b&b is decidedly not for the weak of heart (or stomach). it contains extremely graphic violence, gore, sexual content, and all sorts of other unpleasantness i'll refrain from listing for brevity's sake. if you're sensitive to... anything, really, this is your chance to run.

i'm gonna try and start using this blog more for comic stuff, so expect concept art, visdev, some behind the scenes character ramblings, and maybe snippets of script if the mood strikes me. and my regular degular fanart and personal doodles- this is an art blog, after all!

when i was sixteen I attempted to livestream a marathon of every single alvin and the chipmunks movie as a joke and i put the link in my friend group server and they all showed up and were talking in the youtube chat but five minutes into the first movie the viewer count dropped to zero so i assumed they all hated me but I was still committed to the bit so I spent ninety two minutes riffing on alvin and the chipmunks to no one as tears rolled silently down my face and then the movie ended and when I went to go pirate alvin and the chipmunks: the squeakquel i took a look in the group chat and it turned out I had been copyright struck mid-stream and they had been trying to tell me but i didn't notice because i was too busy dry heaving over the possibility that they were all diehard chipmates and here i was making fun of their religion

i was gonna hold off on posting mason until i got his kohoe outfit figured out, but we honestly might be here a while. lore under the cut!

after eighteen years of waiting, warren carmine is delighted to announce that mason delaney has been born again. while a Pagan by birth, he’s certainly no stranger to the kohoe life- per the custody agreement of his parents’ divorce, he’s visited the compound regularly since early childhood. what exactly prompted his come to jesus moment isn’t public knowledge, but anyone who’s seen his arms can hazard a guess.

his permanent arrival is notable for several reasons- for one, he’s the first convert the church has seen in years since warren discontinued mission trips to the outside. more importantly, he stands to be his mother morgan’s first apprentice to complete their Healer training, and her eventual successor as the kohoe’s sole medical professional. whatever skeletons may line his closet in the Pagan world, he’s a force to be reckoned with in an emergency. although young and inexperienced, most consider him a vast improvement to his predecessor, and eagerly await the day of her semi-retirement. even when morgan’s mentorship skills are somehow worse than her bedside manner, mason idolizes his mom and won’t hear a word against her.

call it old habits dying hard, but in secret, the adjustment has been tougher than mason would have hoped. turns out a life of parasitizing your mother’s church as a closeted athiest with no access to your preferred outlets takes a lot out of a guy. that’s not even touching how crazy they’ve gotten with the guns lately. under the laissez faire eye of warren’s second in command, he’s taken to spending the night in the church infirmary- and indulging a sadomasochistic friendship with a crazed and conspiratorial Exile.

his warm, steady demeanor as a Healer exists in polar opposition to how he is with… literally anything else. he may be a wizard when shit hits the fan, but he’s plagued with anxiety and hobbled by a severe self-worth deficit. this hasn’t stopped the Exile from imprinting on him like a duckling with rabies, but ash still finds it a damn shame- his confidant looks good with a spine.
