Suspension || Kaname & Ai
"Well, I figured that if there was ever a time to be ridiculous, tonight would be it." Â He was glad to see that Ai was willing to play along and even happier to see her putting up with his silliness, not that it really surprised him, she was always a gracious kind of soul. Â

One side of her lips turned up at his claim of having one drink. Perhaps it had been one too many, because if that was actually the reason behind his giddiness tonight, she would have expected it took a little more to make him lower his guard. Then again, it could just be the party after all and, really, who would she be kidding if she said she hadn't been at least a little tempted to grab a drink herself?
Ai's eyebrows raised in curiosity when her friend said he hadn't planned on actually participating. Then she turned her gaze away embarrassed, "Y-yeah? Well you're hardly any better than me having not denied that you were even of age..."
She sighed in surrender and moved on, "That was nice of you to not say anything, though. I'm sure it would have been awkward to be rejected like that." If you could call that a rejection; it was more of a misunderstanding than anything. Seriously, though, he hadn't even been wearing a red string and he got a date for the night? The appeal was there, but she couldn't help being a little jealous of his circumstances.
Speaking of which, "No, I don't think I was hoping for anyone in particular." She chuckled, "Thank you though." Ai put her free finger up to her masked lip in thought, "Though, I guess my size might have given me right away... I don't exactly look eighteen--even with the mask on." She looked down at herself for effect. She couldn't even pass for her own age let alone two years more.
"It was just for fun. I'm happy either way. You, though! What did you and your date do for the rest of the night?"

[text] YOU'RE MISSING THE POINT
Day 28/30
28. Are they early risers or late sleepers?
Ai is a bit of an early riser no matter the bedtime. She gets frustrated when she wakes up late--even on weekends. Sleeping in isn't something she'd like to get into the habit of (that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, though).
Day 27/30
27. What's their favorite season?
As much as she loves spring with its brisk mornings and pretty flowers, Ai is a sucker for winter. She loves how white everything looks when it snows (the contrast is beautiful in photos), and she loves wearing big sweaters, booties, and cute scarves that make her look extra cute.
Kitchen Dorks | Ai + Togami
[♚] It was already awkward enough for him to be in Ai’s apartment but to force himself to feel like he’s at home? Of course, he had done that the last time he visited one of his fiances’ apartments but this was different. If anything, being here almost felt like they were already dating. Wait, were they? Their parents seemed to believe so but he hadn’t really asked her out yet even though that was his intention earlier. But perhaps the real question he should be asking himself was: would Ai even agree to go out with him if her parents didn’t expect her to?
She did say that he seemed nice enough to date and if he had to be honest, that compliment somehow made him happier than he preferred. Frowning at the thought, he immediately shook it away before taking out the pack of flour from the cabinet while Ai searched for the other ingredients.

The status of their relationship was still unknown to Ai as well. She couldn't tell what they were. Neither of them really dared ask the other anyway, but from what she had assumed from their parents; they were? In any case, Ai wouldn't be off-put if he actually asked her on a date. Heck, she might just ask him just to get it done with, but somehow, she felt as though he might rather take the first step. Which brought her to wonder if this counted as a date.
Brought back to attention, she noticed his casual use of her last name and felt a pang of something in her chest, but ignored it. Ai frowned, "You shouldn't lump me in with the higher class so easily." Ai glanced at Togami with a lighthearted grin, then back at the fridge, only half of her concentration on the search now.
Of Amor and Veritas | Ai + Mahiro
"Sure? You don’t think it’s better than Amy?" he smirked, amused by her change in demeanor into one of a distingué noble daughter. Perhaps she was one.
Her change in contentment at his words made him tilt uneasily. He was getting reprimanded for his manners by a girl who looked half his age, even if it was subtle. She had turned to thank the worker, who was immediately relieved that at least one of them were merciful. The blonde man blinked, if a little surprised at how kind she chose to reciprocate, and how gentle the entire ordeal became. Thankfully, he wan’t without a grasp of understanding at social expectations. Not to mention, he also owed the girl some gratitude. “I’ll overlook it this time, be grateful of her generosity.” He pardoned succinctly.
At that, the woman apologized quickly to both of them quickly and returned to her work. Mahiro lightly shook his head at her retreating figure, his blonde curls bouncing in doing so.Â
"You shouldn’t be so forgiving. If they don’t receive any complaints, they’ll never improve their ways. It’ll only snowball into worse problems in the future. I’m actually doing something beneficial for them." He paused. "'I must be cruel only to be kind' do you know that verse?” He asked gingerly, not expecting her to detect the origin, but having to hear of it at least.
Of course, there’s the prize reclaiming. "Do you really know where to go?"Â
"Amy is much better than Artificial Intelligence." She blurted, then rethought how he could interpret that and added, "But call me Ai! My name isn't Amy!" She rushed it, hoping that she could quickly make her point. He surely knew her name by now, and if he really did, he was only amusing himself now. It wasn't as if it was irritating. She just didn't want to be mistaken. Though, she got the impression he just wasn't going to call her by her actual name.
At his words of pardoning to the worker, Ai just stood there, smile still plastered on her cheeks, staring ahead blankly and blinking in disbelief. To her surprise, this man was slowly beginning to fray her nerves. He was, not only rude, but incorrigible. For a moment, his actions made him seem half his presumable age. Nevertheless, she kept a calm face as she politely waved away the lady's apologies and saw her off.
"I have heard of that verse, yes. Shakespear, wasn't it?" Ai said, rhetorical. She raised a skeptical eyebrow, "That doesn't mean you can be mean to the lady, though. I think you frightened her." She had left in a bit of a hurry, which was understandable. Ai shook her head. "Well, I'm sure she'd learned her lesson, now."
Clapping her fist in her palm at his question, Ai saw no point in beating around the bush in saying, "I don't know."
"We could ask someone--" She suggested before realizing what that could mean for him, "--or I could ask someone."
[4 hours later] *wipes forehead* Theme change: done!
That took a lot longer than expected... Well, I'm working on replies now, but will likely be pulled from my computer for a couple of hours, then I'll be back to continue! At this point I think I'm only waiting for one reply and am owing three.
Also: Ahhhh so many new members!! I'd love to thread with some of you, but I'm too busy as it is, so sorry! Welcome anyways ^o^
Day 26/30
26. What's the most painful thing that has ever happened to them?
Ai once had to stay in the hospital because she had managed to break a toe at a track meet in her earlier school days.
Suspension || Kaname & Ai
The mask around his neck was proving to be a bit of an encumbrance so Kaname pulled his hand away from Ai for a second to set the mask back on his face before returning to his hands to their previous position.  If they were going to do this masquerade thing, they might as well do it right, he supposed, but it was really only to get it out of the way.  He wasn’t a huge fan of the mask himself, it obscured too much and it wasn’t exactly comfortable.Â
"The festival," Â He considered for a moment, chewing it over, "Or the alcohol." Â He said with a shrug, not that he had very much - a drink at most, but the combination of a lovely night and the buzz that was waning off was probably the culprit in his sudden case of openness. Â Kaname had always been a social sort but he was rarely ever this free.Â
It was nice, to say the least. Â
"Did you expect me to be bad?"  He laughed, pretending to be offended "I mean, I’m sure I could fake my way through it even without lessons."  He was faking through most of it now, it had been a long time since he’d taken those classes, but there were some things that he was pleasantly surprised to find that he had retained, including how not to step on Ai’s toes.

There was certainly something to be said about him putting on his mask once again. He didn't look much different, but when she thought about it, he didn't look a lot like himself either. Ai wanted to compliment his choice, as it was a rather complementing accessory, but decided against it and just laughed to herself muttering, "This is getting more and more ridiculous..." as she pulled her own mask down from atop her head.
Day 25/30
25. What's the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to them?
Ai is generally careful not to have excessively humiliating moments befall her. The most embarrassing thing to happen to her so far was probably when she returned to class from the bathroom with the back of her skirt accidentally tucked into her tights. She's very careful about checking herself in the bathroom now.
Suspension || Kaname & Ai
"I did."  He answered, without missing a beat, "And besides, I know you too well to believe that you aren’t enjoying this." And if she wasn’t hoping for a fun night of stolen strings, she wouldn’t have tied one to her pinky in the first place - especially since she was underage.
Kaname bowed again, extending a hand for her to take, “A dance it is.” Â
He could still hear the faint sound of music from a nearby party that had yet to end and used it as a guide, falling into place naturally and easily, “You know, I took ballroom dance lessons once.” He said, thinking out loud, “I’m not great but I still remember a thing or two.” Â
It was one of the many things Kaname had tried and dropped over the years.  He didn’t usually give it any thought, but now he was feeling a sudden wave of regret for not continuing, if only for the chance to impress Ai for the night.
She poked him in the side for that comment, but couldn't quite wipe the small smile off her face. She certainly was having fun, she couldn't lie about that. Though, despite the truth behind his knowledge, Ai couldn't help but notice how unreserved Kaname had been acting this evening.
"The festival has gotten to you..." But he couldn't help it, it was contagious. Even she was still feeling a little extra bubbly.
"Thank you," Ai matched his bow with a curtsy and took his extended hand. She fell into step with him nicely. "It shows. You're better than I expected." Had he not known how to dance, she wondered if he would have even accepted her proposal.
One side of her smile quirked up. "Y'know, you never really answered me earlier. Did someone actually steal you?"
Of Amor and Veritas | Ai + Mahiro
"Mahiro. Ma-hi-ro.” He amended, emphasizing the last syllable. In his entitlement he had disregarded how he had messed up her name. Your name is a little like my stepsister’s, that’ll help me remember, he thought, but outwardly, spoke with a hint of teasing, “A-I. Artificial Intelligence, that’ll help me remember. You’re welcome to claim your share of the prize, for your valuable assistance.”
Amidst the resounding applaud, a young woman clad in a festival uniform came before them with a distressed smile. She nodded in acknowledgment to Ai’s question, "The grand prize is currently at the red string challenge booth. I’m terribly sorry, but we don’t have enough members to leave the booths in the vicinity. I’m sorry to ask this of you, but do you mind retrieving it directly from the booth? We’ve already made a call to the staff there."
"Red string challenge booth…" Mahiro repeated slowly, not having heard of the game before. Despite her apparent anxiety, he pressed, "I don’t know where it is. You’re the staff here, aren’t you? Your workforce incompetency shows if you’re this unprepared."
It didn’t bother him as much as he made it sound, though his choice of words had stung. The woman darted her nervous eyes to the smaller of the two, as if asking for assistance.
At first, Ai was thoroughly embarrassed by her mistake and apologized accordingly, "Oh my gosh, sorry!!" She began and then, "Hey!" The imagination in this guy... Artificial Intelligence, her butt. She was a dignified, young, human lady. Ai pouted her lips stubbornly for a moment, then she sighed uselessly, "If it helps, then okay. But please don't call me that out loud."Â
The young woman in uniform who had answered her question seemed clearly troubled already while she explained the situation. Was she new to the Festival staff? She didn't talk like it. She spoke like a responsible young lady, just a bit inconvenienced at the wrong time.
Ai was about to thank her when Mahiro spoke up with a stern voice.
And even Ai was a bit offended by his words. She saw the woman's pleading eyes and exchanged an understanding look with her before looking up at her tall partner, eyebrows furrowed in discouragement, "I think she's doing her job just fine." Ai turned to the lady, "Sorry, thank you for letting us know about the prize."
She glanced at Mahiro, then back again, "I know how to get there." She said, but oh, if only that were true. Honestly, she just wanted to leave the poor woman alone.
