Their first and last meetings...
Oh they're looking at eachother.
YOU. GUYS. In the eight MILLION times I have watched Last of the Mohicans I have failed to notice this minute detail until right now. These stills are from the scene where Nathaniel goes looking for Cora, and they subsequently kiss. LOOK AT WHAT IS TIED TO HIS WAMPUM STRAP. It’s a piece of Cora’s blue silk riding dress that was ruined on the journey to the fort. That’s what he was cutting to use for shooting patches during the famous surgery “I’m looking at you, Miss” scene. GOOD HEAVENS! The inner thoughts I could have written in my first fic about that kiss if Cora had noticed THAT tied there... like I might need to write a short oneshot about just her noticing this, because while it is likely tied there for completely utilitarian reasons (keeping it at the ready if he needed another patch quickly), it just makes my romantic little brain all squishy to see it tied there, like a visual of how they have been bound together. And I secretly feel like Nathaniel might have been sentimental enough to tie it there just because of what it was...his “reason to stay”. Even though he’d never admit to it. 😉
he fought for her until his last breath; in response, she accepted his fate so that none of them would fall alone...

As you and I know, a bunch of scenes were cut from the film “The Last of the Mohicans”. We can observe some nuances from these deleted scenes in our film adaptation.
And here is one of them:
I wonder if I was the only one who noticed this strange box in Alice’s hands before the massacre?
I've been wondering for a long time what its meaning is. Don't think that I'm very picky about various things in films. It’s just that, as you and I know, Cora and Alice got to Fort William Henry without a single thing in their hands (they only had other dresses, but they won’t fit in this small box, right?). therefore, this cannot possibly be some kind of personal item, relic, etc.
I have only one guess - this is a gift from some person. a very valuable gift to her, which she took with her. but who could it be from then? perhaps it could be any of the people she knew (Alice had no girlfriends/friends in Fort Henry). it could have been an acquaintance or friend of Colonel Monroe, who could have given his friend’s daughter a gift (but I believe that there were no acquaintances or friends)
but there is also a second option - uncas. I always had the feeling that in the deleted scenes she and Alice crossed paths at least once during the siege of the fort. nevertheless, the life of the entire fort hung in the balance, so it seems to me that Uncas would not have missed the opportunity to see his beloved more often and pay more attention to her. and so I gave her this box, but we may never know what’s in it (
write your guesses. I will be very glad to read them ◔‿◔
I didnt know what true love was. But when Uncas rushed alone to rescue Alice from the clutches of a dozen Hurons fighting to the end despite his mortal wound, Magua finally threw the Mohican, who was dying from severe wounds, off the cliff, and Alice threw herself after him from the precipice although she could have waited for her rescue, I realized this is love

It looks too simple, but I like it.
