While that is funny, and people are taught geography in school I don't know why they don't know those countries, keep in mind that.. our education system has almost no funding. Neither do our libraries. The government spends it all on military and police. So while yes this is a ridiculous example of Americans being poorly educated, and a funny response, but don't forget that like. It's not our fault most of the time. Most people my age and a few grades up and down can actually barely read. Like I'm dead serious. It's really sad.

whenever someone brings up how americans are incredibly ignorant about countries that aren’t their own, there’s ALWAYS someone like you going “well um actually... the education system :/ so us poor little americans are blameless” and it’s always fucking annoying. stop it. grow up. I get that casting off personal responsibility is comforting but at some point you have to grow the fuck up and realize that doing so is childish as fuck, and that most americans are willfully ignorant, and they don’t learn about other countries are because they simply don’t care. when you’re the biggest economic, political, military, what have you, power in the world - why care about other, obviously inferior societies?

also, funny thing about the education system and its funding. I guarantee there are other countries in the world where the education system gets no funding. but they can still point out america on a map. wanna know why? because they don’t have the luxury of not knowing about american shit, either because a) it’s fucking everywhere, it always takes precedence, it’s always glorified, it’s the american dream, it’s the ideal that we should all aspire to, the pinnacle of democracy or b) they don’t have the luxury of not knowing about the usa because it’s committed literal countless war crimes against them, and is maybe still doing so in the present.

hi i’m a disabled 21 y/o, i babysit my siblings (ages 3, 9, and 11) every day. i’m about to start the process of trying to get disability benefits, but right now i have absolutely no income.

i’m asking for funds to get us food and daily necessities for at least the next week or so. we’re struggling bad right now, my mom missed a few days of work and she’s working extra to make up for it.
