Vince Lombardi-Motivational
The birth of Vincent Lombardi was in my mind one the greatest thing to ever occur. Even from a young age Lombardi had motivated himself to achieve great things such as receiving a Football scholarship to Fordham University in New York City. It was here playing Football for Fordham University that Lombardi learned a valuable lesson in never under estimating your opponent, after losing the final game of Lombardi’s senior year to NYU.
But although his own life was interesting up to a point, Lombardi is famous for being one of the greatest coaches of all time and being an inspiration. During Lombardi’s time involved in football with teams such as the New York Giant and more importantly the Green Bay Packers. It was during his time as Packers head coach that it was clear Lombardi was able to motivate teams.
In 1959 Lombardi but the Packers through rigorous training and looked for complete and absolute dedication from his players. It was due to this that he ended the season with a record of 7-5 which was a huge achievement compared to the previous seasons 1-10-1. Lombardi also won Coach of the Year in 1959.
The next season showed just how much Lombardi had brought the
Packers forward as the won the Western Conference, and Lombardi leaded his team to the 1960 NFL Championship game where the eventually lost but in a post game speech to his players Lombardi was quoted to saying “This will never happen again. You will never lose another Championship.”
Lombardi stuck to his word and in 1961 the Packers won the NFL title with a record of 37-0 and retained the title in 1962 with a record of 16-7. Lombardi went on to have a post season record of 105-35-6.
Lombardi has gone on to be quoted many times due to the nature where many of the things he has said can be used in everyday life and not just football. Below is a collection of my personal favourite Vince Lombardi Quotes.
