“It was months and months of back and forth. You’re still all over me like a wine-stained dress I can’t wear anymore. Hung my head as I lost the war and the sky turned black like a a perfect storm.”
Let's just say that I will be so mad if in the next season there isn't a scene where Geralt sings 'Toss a coin to your witcher' when no one can hear him but someone caughts him anyway.
Yennefer and Geralt by Petra Koch
I am genuinely so proud of Anya Chalotra for proving so many of her naysayers wrong.
Immediately when she was cast, everyone was upset because she’s an Indian woman, and therefore not accurate to play Yennefer (who has always been one of my favourite characters), certainly not pretty by default (even though she’s nothing short of gorgeous). All because she wasn’t “beautiful enough”, or “didn’t look right” to some fans. Which is a theme that brown women are CONSTANTLY told throughout their whole lifetime. (I should know; it’s a song and dance I’ve dealt with all my damn life, as have some of my friends and family).
That we aren’t pretty.
That we’re undesirable, ugly, gross, etc.
Anya took the role of Yennefer and fucking absolutely slayed it.
I cannot even begin to describe the kind of pride I felt watching her play such a strong, fierce, powerful woman who is depicted to be one of the most beautiful beings in existence in the Witcher universe. How a brown woman is also the MAIN love interest to a character being played by someone as attractive as Mr. Cavill. That he is the one in pursuit of her.
It is….just so ridiculously empowering and satisfying to get to witness this after years of being told we’ll never be good enough. I probably had a stupid smile on my face the whole time watching her scenes, that my boyfriend probably couldn’t understand.
Especially when seeing how all those naysayers from earlier retracted their dislike of Anya because she just has such immense talent playing Yennefer. That her skill and hard work has earned her their respect at last.
Even I had initially been skeptical at first (not of her looks, but moreso her skill and the writing), but I have never been more glad to have been so utterly wrong.
I’m just really happy that she’s done so well, and perhaps proven an old, ugly, untrue stereotype false.
Thank you, Ms. Chalotra, and I can’t wait for S2!!

Geralt: Hmm
Geralt: Fuck
Me: Count me down as scared and horny
I am both afraid and aroused.
