Johann Strauß II - Perpetuum Mobile • “Karajan” with the “Wiener Philharmoniker” [Duration: ∞] | petition for a 10-hour version! (sign by rebloging :P)
Stravinsky - Petrushka • "Jansons" with the "Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra" [Duration 35:55]
Rachmaninoff - Prélude in G minir (arrangement for solo-violin by ‘Ernst Schliephake’) • “Frank Peter Zimmermann” [Duartion 3:38]
Arnold Schönberg - Gurrelieder: Vorspiel • “Simon Rattle” with the “Berliner Philharmoniker” [Duration 6:50] | As you will realize after hearing only the first few notes, this piece was written before Schönberg’s atonal phase and the result is incredible! Even more interesting is the enormous ensemble, consisting of approximately 150 instrumentalists (10 Horns, 2 Contrabassoons etc.) and 200 vocalists. If you ever get the possibility to see this piece live, DO IT! (It is extremely rare that the Gurrelieder are performed, simply because of the effort it takes to organize everything)
The full version: • Part 1 https://youtu.be/G8ZArto6YTE • Part 2 https://youtu.be/sKykpDJ25hI
Mahler - Symphony 1 'Der Titan' • “Gustavo Dudamel” with the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra” [Duration: 54:25] | ‘Frère Jacques’ theme in the 3rd movement! (24:10)
Mahler - Symphony 6 • “Gergiev” with the “World Orchestra for peace” [Duration 1:18:15] | The ‘hammer-symphony’… Also 23:32 2nd movement!!!
John Adams - Short Ride In A Fast Machine • unfortunally I couldn’t find any information about the Orchestra/conducter [Duration 4:23] | The replay-potential is over 9000!
Rachmaninov - The Isle of the Dead (Op.29) • “Sir Andrew Davis” with the “Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra” [Duration 21:40] | Rachmaninov wrote this symphonic poem as an homage to the same-titled painting by Arnold Böcklin (,which you can see in the video).
Bohuslav Martinů - Symphony No.1 • “Jirí Belohlávek” with the “BBC Symphony Orchestra” [Duration 36:49] | Side note: The Symphony was composed in 1942 after Martinu emigrated to the United States (a year before).
Mahler - Symphony 6 • “Gergiev” with the “World Orchestra for peace” [Duration 1:18:15] | The ‘hammer-symphony’… Also 23:32 2nd movement!!!
Joshua Redman - Jazz Crimes [Duration 6:29] | Caution: Jazz!
Richard Strauss - Don Juan • “Mariss Jansons” with the “BRSO” | Warning: The finale is missing! If anyone ever finds the complete recording: Please let me know!!! I’d even pay one or two moneys for it!
Ok... how about 3 moneys?
Mahler - Symphony 5 • “Gergiev” with the “World Orchestra for Peace” at the BBC Proms 2010 [Duration 1:10:14] | Third and final Movement!… I came to the conclusion that I might be a ‘Mahler-fanboy’ :0
Now here’s something COMPLETELY different… (genre: “fusion-jazz/funk”-ish) Anyways, I really felt like sharing it so here you go: “Snarky Puppy” and the “Metropole Orkest” - The curtain
Dvorák - Water Goblin • “Nikolaus Harnoncourt” (conductor) with the “RCO” [Duration 21:16] | The ‘best’ part begins at 9:36!
Dvorák - String Quartet No.12 “American” • “Cleveland Quartet” [Duration 25:06]
