Got Tonsil Stones Bad Breath?

A strep infection as a child may lead to tonsil stones twenty or more years later in life. The reason: Strep bacteria mobilize a protein in the blood called fibrin to encase themselves in a fibrinogen shell designed to protect them against the body's immune system. As white blood cells attack this protective layer and die, they calcify to gradually build a tonsil stone. Other bacteria in the mouth glom on to the shell and feed, releasing hydrogen sulfide gas and stinky chemicals like cadaverine and putrescine that cause tonsil stones bad breath. Passionate About North American Indian Flutes

Today I wanted to post about another timely diversion I'm interested in - woodworking. One aspect of woodworking I've become passionate about is the Native American flute. For some time I've been researching the history of the North American Indian flute and examples of how to make these flutes and keeping track of everything in my Google Drive folder. Learn more about my research here.

One flutemaker I've discovered is Chuck Pavey, who makes flutes and moderates a Native American flute circle that meets once a month at his home in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Movie “Arrival” A Timely Diversion

Welcome to “A Timely Diversion”, where I’ll be posting occasionally about some of the things that have been a timely diversion in my life - a movie, event, project or the like that has been a welcome diversion from the routine of work, sleep, eating and ... well, work.

Last night it was the movie “Arrival” with Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, a movie that’s as much about the arrival of aliens on Earth as The Walking Dead is about zombies. Very good performances from Adams and Renner, a generally engrossing story line that drags a little about half way through, and a twist that left me thinking - on an emotional level at least - that humans might actually be able to see the future in some rare instances. How’s that for a timely diversion?
