some of my rw fan ocs i drew!! conceptualized them back when downpour first released, so i'm very nostalgic about them
very long artfight description i typed up for them below:
putting these guys here because i wanted to practice drawing iterators :) their lore is relatively old... bear with me if they don't line up or are inaccurate with canon, its been a while since i've brushed up on the finer details </3
--
During their desperate attempts to break out of stagnation, two iterator groups agree to engage in a longstanding information-collecting battle that eventually spirals out of control. These four are part of the main cast of the first local group, with Sights in Blue Forest having proposed the idea in the first place.
Fogs Upon Noon (FUN*, Fogs/Noon, Two Bells)
She/they
An iterator structure located high above the clouds, equipped with numerous satellite dishes and station points that have slowly dilapidated over the many years. Served as a central radio tower/transmission site back in her prime.
Interestingly, Fogs is the farthest from her own local group, and is located somewhat close by another iterator from the opposing team (Obfuscated Flight Patterns). The two bond over their mutual abstention from the competition; OFP believes it to be disrespectful to their benefactors to "have turned their duties into a game", while Fogs has always been disinterested in following the status quo.
Everyone in her group calls her FUN, but she has mixed feelings about the abbreviation— she knows some use this nickname affectionately towards her, but has since realized that others use it as an ironic jab at her stiff personality.
Most assume her to be aloof and uncaring, but she loves puzzle-solving and experimenting above all. Her curiosity and pursuit for knowledge is the main reason why she begins to search for Turns from the Dark and the reasons for their disappearance.
Expected herself to dislike SMS because of her loyalty to Blue, but actually gets along with her fairly well after talking one on one.
SMS is an unusually small iterator structure located amongst the wetlands, and is one of the youngest of her local group. The size of her rooms makes it appear as if she has an abundance of neuron flies in the amount of space she has. She faces a few limitations in her functions due to how compact she is, but was otherwise looked upon with endearment by her creators. Her original blueprint (an experiment that comprised of seeing how possible it was to build in a limited space) was heavily debated upon as some believed it to be a misuse of valuable resources; however, public perception quickly shifted after her conception was portrayed through an underdog narrative.
(she is not a child, to be clear! she's just little in size and built late compared to her peers in this group; i'd imagine they're all of similar mentality.)
A deeply empathetic individual who can't help but see the good in everything and everyone. The other iterators get along with her well on the surface level, but find it difficult to fully open up to her due to her proximity with Blue. Tries her best to maintain a kind, peaceful environment with her peers, but can easily get upset if she suspects something is wrong.
She is much less naive than others make her out to be; she sees the rivalry between the two local groups for what it truly is-- a mere distraction from their issues and general existential dread-- but plays along with them nonetheless.
Views Blue as a mentor figure to her. The two are close neighbors, with Blue calling her "Little Fish" in reference to the aquatic life they both observe in her biome.
Sights in Blue Forest (SIBF, Blue)
He/him
Despite being called the local group's senior, he is technically not the eldest and thus lacks certain administrative privileges. The iterator who previously filled that role, Sixteen Pillars, collapsed long ago and ceased communications with the group. Blue was initially hesitant on taking her leadership role, but has since gotten accustomed to the title.
Blue's structure was originally built to observe and record the growth of the local flora, as well as serve as a scenic vista point for anyone visiting. Over his time, he has created and fostered an abnormal amount of overseers that he has repurposed into his own personal surveillance system.
Blue’s local group all have mixed opinions about him and his methods as a leader, all of which has only grown more complex as time goes on. Although a majority of them respect and acknowledge his capabilities, it is also a common discussion point that he tends to be overbearing and detrimentally controlling when left unchecked. He claims to have good intentions and only wishes to bring out the best from those around him, but his tendency to keep constant vigilance over everyone is unnerving, to say the least.
Dependable and well-mannered; enjoys sharing poems and riddles to his peers to puzzle out during the rare moments he is not at work. Makes an effort to keep all his communications polite and civil (the competition has a way of worming into his head, though.)
Turns from the Dark (TFTD, Turns)
They/he
An iterator structure located in the midst of a harsh and labyrinthine terrain. Their place was once a significant point of travel and often had visitors embarking it as a test of endurance. TFTD was revered as a symbol of respite and testament to their perseverance, as reaching his facilities would signal that safer grounds were ahead. Although TFTD valued the role bestowed upon them, they never took much pride in it.
Was arguably the most valued member of their local group in terms of gathering and parsing through data. He began to develop an intense bout of paranoia due to the pressure from his teammates and the information-intake combined. One day, he cut off any and all communications with the others without warning, and currently maintains his isolation by ridding any overseer sent his way.
Was known to be rather meek around other iterators, but was notably very contemplative and offered thoughtful insight when asked. Prone to anxiety and giving in under stress.
guy who accidentally becomes important at work and decides that they’ve had enough. basically
The Diplomat
The Diplomat was created/altered(?) by Fogs Upon Noon with the purpose of gathering any information surrounding TFTD's disappearance. Their appearance and functions directly imitate orange/yellow lizards and their ability to commune with one another.
The Diplomat is able to send out strong pulses from their antennae to stun/pacify other creatures temporarily, but is much more liable to have their presence be noticed upon entry. It has an easier time allying with other creatures, but maintains aggression from enemies for longer.
for their personality, i believe i kept it vague so as to fit the slugcats ingame... they lean slightly on the sly and cunning side, though. fogs believes them to be quite distinguished herself, but she's biased :P
The Guardian
A scavenger given the mark of communication by Turns from the Dark, tasked to rid any unfamiliar creature or overseer crossing their path.
A strong yet troubled sentinel, residing within the winding caverns surrounding TFTD’s superstructure. They startle easily and are incredibly trigger-happy with their weapons; TFTD feels a sense of camaraderie towards them for their shared fears.
there's definitely more info i had on them, but i forget....... their appearance is based off a cool scav i ran into in game (ID.1.18177)! they look like they have little angel wings :D
bonus icon i never had the time to change on there
