SOURCE YOUR ART, PLEASE!

Okay kids, come and gather round for a new lesson. As you all might know, there are a ton of great artists on the internet! And these artists put their sweat and blood and tears (sometimes literally) into their art. So don’t you think they should get some credit?

A lot of promos I’ve been seeing lately though, sadly lack any kind of credit. This happens for reasons that are entirely beyond me, but have no fear! Adding a source doesn’t have to clash with your aesthetically pleasing promo. It can be as simple as a subtle link, or a photo source. Let me show you how!

1. Okay, so obviously you’re going to want to make a new post. Most people make a photo post so lemme go and do that.

2. Now you just add in your pretty promo art, right? Throw in some text, maybe html the shit out of it, make it look like the coolest thing on the block. 

Now you’re done, right? Right??

WRONG YOU ARE SO WRONG YOU CAN’T LEAVE IT AT THAT. 3. Which brings me to linking. Promo posts usually have links among the text description that link back to the promoted blog. Additional links could go to the ask page or the rules page. Is it that hard to add one more link to the credit? No, not at all! 

If you want it small, you could even just add it to the punctuation.

4. And if you want the source to be out of the description, you can link it in the photo! You just go in the top right corner and add a source…

And voila! It’s in! 

There’s barely any interference with your promo post now! You could always link back to your blog with this method instead, and add the credit elsewhere. But the important thing is this, and I cannot stress this enough:

CREDIT THE FANART YOU USE, PLEASE!!! Thank you.

I will no longer be reblogging promos that don’t at least give art credit for fanart used in the banners. Artists put a lot of work into what they put out, so they could at least get recognition for it.
