New Space Marine Honour Badges:
I honestly feel that the Space Marines don’t get enough credit for their countless victories and accomplishments. The Honour Badges they can be awarded with for said accomplishments are too limited, and do not at all cover all their extraordinary deeds. There needs to be more medals Space Marines can be awarded with, so I created some of my own. These achievements are difficult enough that they are noteworthy, but are so common every chapter probably has a few marines with each. The medals are the sorts of things that can be stuck onto their armour so that all can see what any particular Space Marine has achieved.
The Daemonus Defeateus: For banishing a Greater Daemon back to the Warp. Since the icon of a daemon’s head probably attracts Warp energy or something, a Hammer is used instead which represents the wearer as ‘the hammer of daemons’ kind of like the Ordo Malleus.
The Congratulus Victorius: This is for defeating a Daemon Prince. Since Daemon Princes were once Space Marines, they are therefore better than Greater Daemons and as such a more challenging opponent. The recipient of this award is marked by the extra star to show they are extra special.
The Demi-God Demi-Gone: The two stars of this award show that the wearer has defeated a Daemon Primarch. Like the previous award, the two stars show that the wearer is extra extra special. With the resurgence of the Primarchs I expect many new recipients of this award, I hear Guilliman himself wishes to obtain an entire collection of these medallions.
The Apex Killer: Slaying a Tyranid Swarmlord is required for this great honour. As we all know, the Tyranids are limitless in number, so there are infinite Swarmlords to be killed. Similar to having an imaginary duel in your head, fighting the Swarmlord is a challenging battle, although it will still be easily and eventually killed.
The “I Literally Can’T”: This award is granted to those who slay a C’Tan shard. The devious C’Tan are obscure and can be hard to find, not every chapter can boast to having slain one in their chronicles of countless victories. However should a C’Tan be encountered, it can be easily bested, provided you are a named character.
The God of “War”: An Avatar of Khaine is a fragment of the Eldar god of war, a mighty, near-unstoppable opponent indeed. However the demand for these medallions is so great that you will be placed on a waiting list until the Adeptus Administratum can get around to you.
The Prophecy Preventus: A prestigious honour granted to those who prevent an Eldar Farseer from completing their “prophecy”. It does not matter what the prophecy entails, all one needs to do is defy incredible odds and fate itself, foil the plans of an ancient sorcerer and prove that no amount of planning or being able to see the future can save you from a Space Marine.
The Psyker No Psyching: This special award is given to those who defeat the Eldar’s greatest Psyker and Farseer of all time, Eldrad Ulthran himself. Killing Eldrad is not required for this honour, only shaming the diviner and stopping him from doing whatever he was trying. The addition of the big yellow star lets the wearer know that they themselves, are a star. Way to go, champ.
So there you go. I would love to hear people’s thoughts on the Honour Badges I created or any feats that I might have missed that should be added to the list. Cheers.
For the amount of effort you’ve put into those honour badges it’d be a shame to make the last two look like roadsigns. I say make them like 4,5 and 6.
Blood Games-051317M41 Custodes and Knights of Ajax engage in a spirited Blood Game to rouse the self-admitted rusty Custodes from their inactivity. The Knights unleashed a devastating fusillade in their opening salvo, with Sgt Gwen blasting the anti-grav plates off the Custodes Land Raider and causing Techmarine Judis to weep oily tears of sorrow, and his firing accuracy decreased, chipping a friendly Rhino with his Thunderfire cannon. Chapter Master Juche landed with his Sternguard and after a fusillade of hellfire rounds, but were soon dragged into combat with the Custodes, who slaughtered their way through the Sternguard and leaving them to the attentionsof the Apothecary. Soon only Chapter Master Juche was left standing, and only then for a few moments before the custodes overwhelmed him with their spear thrusts. However the larger forces of the Knights had control of most of the battlefield, barely seizing control of the Blood Game. The two units shook bloodied palms and parted as allies, enjoying the lessons learned from the bout. Custodian Vin Diesel stood up against Castidian Fellfall for three hours, for both to congratulate one another for surviving. Vs Nurgle Daemons on a swamp plague world (Lost) Bouyed by their encounter with the Custodes, the Knights decided to take the light of the Imperium into the foetid world of Simonis, formerly an Ad-Mech research station now under attack by daemons of the Plague God, whos wanted to convert the vile place into a daemonworld. Things began to go wrong from the beginning, as Chapter Master Juche's drop pod and Fellfall's were mixed up in the drop order. Fellfall's limbs were quickly disintegrated by the acidic slime of the Plaguebearers who assailed him, despite his attempts to fight his way towards the great unclean one leading the daemons. Further difficulties ensued as the Warp spewed forth plage drones and swarmed both a combat squad of Marines and the Thunderfire cannon manned by techmarine Judis. Though they were forced to fall back and leave the destroyed cannon and rhino where they were, Chapter Master Juche's situation was even worse, as his Sternguard were cut down leaving his drop pod stranded in the middle of a horde of Plaguebearers. To the Knight's humiliation the Adeptus Mechanicus members of the resarch station rode out to rescue them, pushing the plaguebearers back with the power of their ancient weaponry. Vs AdMech on a swamp world (Won) After being forced to fall back to the AdMech research outpost, the Knights questioned why, if the Tech-priests had the firepower to drive off the daemons, why had they waited for the Space Marines to die in their defense? The magos Taghatma Arcanus replied that he simply hadn't noticed anything beyond his lab for the last six years, for he had been concentrating on a most fascinating debilitation in Space Marine gene-seed. Upon revealing that the Magos had been studying their very own gene-seed problem, the Knights requested and nearly demanded the cure. Magos Arcanus would give them the cure provided they destroy the corrupted Mechanicus personnel enthralled to the daemons on the other side of the planet, including his identical twin: Maghatma Arcanus. The Marines agreed and proceeded as fast as they could push their engines. The long-range cannons of Gwendolyn's Centurion devastators took a heavy toll on the corrupted kastellans standing guard, while Castidian Fellfall's reconstructed chassis, and Brellon Juche struck at the heart of the heretek's forces. These combined forces distracted and confused both the slow-witted Nurgle daemons and the corrupt servitors, allowing Sternguard and tactical squads to plant seismic charges that would blow the facility sky-high using its own reactors. Despite a last-ditch fusillade of heavy firepower from Maghatma Arcanus grievously wounding Brellon Juche, the Marines escaped as the facility detonated in a blast of atomic power, annhilating the daemons on the planet. Even as the Chapter Master succumbed to his wounds, Magos Taghatma Arcanus presented the marines with their salvation, an innoculation against progenoid contamination, allowing for the progenoid glands to correct and begin reproducing purely once again. Though it must have been their imaginations, many marines feel their organs flutter as the Magos injected each of them. But despite the scattered smiles and relief the Knights of Ajax felt at their deliverance, there was a sense of sorrow for their Chapter Master, who had led them through many trials, had died of his wounds. While there were many petitions for Manmute Aguare to lead them as captain of the First Company and the oldest serving marine, the inherent split between Aguare and Wolfenbach Utterich's faction as master of the Blade meant a compromise was called for. As a result Chaplain Klen, master of the Rites was declared the new Chapter Master until Aguare and Wolfenbach worked out their differences.
Glory Reborn, The Knights Stand Tall.
04102017 M41 The Knights of Ajax have won a resounding victory, regaining their honor that the Iron Warriors had stolen from them. Chapter Master Brellon Juche led the charge with a squad of Sternguard against the corrupting influence of Nurgle, which had overtaken the Iron Warriors of Haltmon. The divinations of the Silver Skulls had revealed that the dark master daemon Belakor had shown himself as master of the Iron Warriors, only for the legions of Nurgle to rise and overtake the chaos marines as a wasting disease turned them all into plague bearers, with the Warsmiths ascending into twinned daemon princes, bringing a great unclean one onto the planet, hopefully corrupting its promethium refineries forever. However, Brellon Juche and the battleship Just Retribution launched the Venerable Ironclad Castidian Fellfall who proved his worth once again, smiting the two Daemon Princes one after another with his powerful seismic hammer, proving that all the sorceries of the warp are no help when faced with a swift and righteous thumping. On the wider battlefield the Centurion devastators and Thunderfire artillery poured fire into the Great Unclean one for several hours even as it summoned more plaguebearers to accost Fellfall with their touch of rust. However, it was Sgt Gwen whose lascannon shot killed the daemon, sending it back to the Warp with a dark chuckle and a permanant stain on the metalworks it had occupied. She could not savor her victory however, for with a ripple of invisible air, Belakor charged at her in anger. Ripping her from her Centurion suit, the dark lord hurled her from the battlements, where she clung to the top of a landed drop pod, saving her from death, if not broken bones and blood loss. Though her comrades despaired, they stubbornly fought on, and were soon buoyed by the arrival of Chapter Master Juche, who engaged in a ferocious battle against the daemon prince who swore he would not be put down so easily. But it was not to be, for after only a few clashes of dark sword and thunder hammer, Belakor's attempted spell of invibility failed and he was folded in half, succked back into the warp for his failure. Mightly though he may have been, Belakor still must face the displeasure of his masters for as the Centurions and their Chapter Master offered a tempting target, the rest of the Knights had cleansed the promethium refineries and had swiftly isolated the remaining pockets of resistance. So it was that the weary Knights of Ajax regained the honor of their chapter and reclaimed a world from the horrors of Chaos. (Game 2) But just as day follows night, so too must the blades of the daemon be replaced by the guns of the Xenos. Seeking fresh resources, the Tau had come to Haltmon, only to find that the bloodied but determined Knights were not willing to part with an iota of the fuel or planet they had so recently purged. With a sigh, Brellon Juche stepped out of the shower and like the rest of his force, rode down to the planet once more in battle plate still covered in gore. The battle was not pretty, but it began on an excellent note for all that the Tau favored swift movement and battlefield superiority through three Riptide suits, the time it took for the three rare transports to be unloaded cost the xenos dearly, allowing Juche and his solders to set up defenses in and around the refinery, dictating the terms of engagement. Techmarine Judis's opening salvo of thunderfire shells ripped the delicate Tau drones to pieces, leaving the enemy commander exposed to Sgt Gwen's lascannon fire, making a mockery of its precious iridium armor. However on the other side of the refinery the Chapter Master had perhaps overestimated the strength and durability of his First Company Sternguard for though he shielded many of them with his terminator plate and storm shield, two riptides and an entire Tau Gunline proved to be too much even for such ancient and powerful wargear to handle. A stray burst cannon round knocked his helmet off and gave the Chapter Master a severe concussion while shredding the less fortunate Sternguard behind him. Enraged, the squad called for support from Techmarine Tashlan's Stormtalonwhich bought them time to charge the nearest Riptide. Though its armor was too thick for even hellfire rounds to reliably penetrate both its plating and force field, the scurrying marines did keep the heavy weapons platform occupied long enough for the heavy weapons teams to wreak havoc against the remaining Tau ground forces. Having been slaughtered, the Tau retreated into their ships and left the sector, claiming false victory under the pretense of having slain Chapter Master Juche. Knowing this to be false, the Knights of Ajax stand with their faces bloody and bruised, but unbowed on a planet of the Imperium that has fought hard to remain so. It also offers an opportunity to repopulate the world with many of the Imperial citizens that have been clamoring,at the Chapter's heels of late and the colony ships will be settled in the ruins as new, uncorrupted hivemcities, the Nurgle-infested ones undergoing the process of cleansing by the Ecclasiarchy and Ad Mech.
Force Expansion II
03182017 M41 The Clarion call has gone out, and the Sons of Ajax will be ready! After hearing distant astropathic relays that tell of the fall of Cadia and the running battle in the Webway, Chapter Master Juche orders his Chapter to increase recruitment and to open their most ancient armories in preparation for the gathering storm. Returning to Beskitas, the Ajaxians recruited vast swathes of gangers, survivalists, and noble-born children for the Scout squadrons, in many cases taking nearly three-quarters of a settlement or hive's generation into their fold. The Beskitans protested in some cases, but the colonial leader's hads were tied, nor did he wish to attempt to resist a Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes. In the process, many renowned battle brothers were inducted into the FIrst Company's Sternguard Squads, leaving the Vanguard Squads nearly empty or else occupying Terminator Armor. The Chapter Master replied that it was only proper that the descendents of the Imperial Fists use terminator armor to hold the line and crush the enemies of the Imperium rather than the vagaries of the power sword. At this there was much consternation among the Ajaxians, with Sgt Manmute Aguare and other proponents of the power fist celebrating well into the night. Once the revelry had died down, Juche ordered the Devastator marine Emma to take command of a devastator centurion squad in light of her bravery fighting off Hive Fleet Hypotenuse. Emma was honored and proceeded to the armory and Techmarine Judis to learn about her new suit. The Son's new strength was about to be tested against the Imperial Fists's oldest foe however, the Iron Warriors!
01142017 M41 Knights of Ajax vs Hive Fleet Hypotenuse , site of an ancient Fortress, crumbled to decay.
Dominate, Invisibility, Psychic Shriek, Librarian Belvedere has an Intimidating Presence, but the true star of the game was a mysterious marine, later promoted to Centurion Sergeant, named Gwen who held morale as the last lascannon gunner to keep a vital power station secure, despite the detonation of spore mines. The Chapter’s newly rebuilt Stormtalons made several strafing runs and got into a vicious dogfight with a hive tyrant. (Can’t remember the result of the game, I think I won or it was a tie.
12032016 M41 The Knights of Ajax arrived at the planet of CoolCo, named after the Conglomerate that owns the swampy world, answering calls for aid against Chaos Astartes, only to find a detachment of Space Wolves who had been overtaken by the curse of the Wulfen, turning them mad and bestial, slaughtering everything in sight. The Knights quickly established a perimiter around the few pockets of civilians and prepared to sell their lives dearly as the few remaining transports evacuated the citizens to the fleet. Nabbed several objectives of civilian groups right off the bat, Castidian Fellfall deepstruck and took a hull point off Land Raider, striking unease in the Blood Claws inside. The Land Raider attempted to get away, but to no avail, as Ironclad Dreadnought Castidian tore it to shreds, only to be assaulted in turn by a Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought. The two revenants tore each other to pieces, even as tactical marines and terminators fell to the withering assault of the Space Wolf Rune Priest. the mostly feral Rune Priest allowed the powers of the warp, supposedly of Fenris to run wild, crushing loyalist space marines and civilians alike in the jaws of the "World Eater". Realizing the Rune Priest was swiftly falling to Khorne, and might birth a tide of daemons, Chaplain Klen called in a series of deep strikes from the First Company, only for the teleporter array to malfunction, stranding one unit far away from the city and another within a maze of shipping crates. Cursing the tech-priest that had calibrated such ancient technology, Chaplain Klen led his squad towards the Rune Priest, determined to end the threat himself. Unfortunately, Chaplain Klen was grievously wounded by a stray bolter shell from the Space Wolves, digging into his armor and pulvierizing his forearm. While it is reconstructed as a more sturdy bionic, Chapter Master Juche has ordered for the Chaplain to wear terminator armor, as he is worried about the state of the chapter's souls and knows how important Klen is to morale. Klen himself took the opportunity to preach a sermon about awareness in all aspects of life, as well as proper maintenance of wargear. Knowing that the tide of battle has shifted, Chapter Master Juche orders the remaining marines to fall back deeper into the swamps and fuel refineries of the planet alongside the civilians, as that the close quarters of the hive cities would play to the savage Wulfen's strengths. (Game 2) The Knights of Ajax had underestimated the Wolve's keen sense of smell, and the maddened Fenrisians followed the stink of landspeeder ozone and Rhino fuel all the way to the swamps that had been designated as fallback positions. While Dreadnought Castidian hid in some ruins, hoping to suprise the Wolves and crush them in his talons, he instead found his opposite number dreadnought among the wolves and once again, the two half-living walkers pummeled each other, though weakened from his previous battle, Castidian's mind was not wholly enmeshed with the fighting chassis, which proved to be his downfall against the much more dexterous dreadnought constructed by the Iron Priests of Fenris. The following days saw a continuous fighting withdrawal once more, but the Knights of Ajax bore no shame, for though brothers fell by the dozen the civilians of the Imperium were packed into the same ships their brother's bodies flew up to the orbiting fleet. In fact, the Knights were suprised to recieve even more civilians than they had expected for in their haste to butcher and hunt, the Sons of Russ had neglected to completely finish off the hive inhabitants, who rushed to the guarded landing sites and streamed up to saftey. Several units of the First Company proved their worth to carry the Crux Terminatus, holding off a maddened dreadnought and two squads of blood claws respectively, giving the transports time to reach saftey. Even the members of Squad Sevichite, though forced to go to ground by the withering fire of a Frost Cannon, were able to sell their lives long enough for the last members of the planet to be evacuated. Now somewhat turned into a civilian convoy, Chapter Master Juche contacted Segmentum Command, Which directed him to drop the "colonists" off on the planet of Besiktas after denying the Space Wolves trans-orbital capabilities. Brellon Juche complied and the planet was declared Perditas, quarantined as the question of how such a noble Chapter of Marines had gone savage was left unanswered until news filtered in from the Fenris System of the Wrath of Magnus...Once more a Daemon Primarch strode the galaxy.
M39-091016 The Chapter was ambushed while on a recruitment drive by a renegade household of Knights, which decimated their forces and forced them to bombard the area from orbit to deny the traitors access to the hive cities full of citizens they were defending. Though the Knights were destroyed, Chaplain Klen was the only survivor, returning to the walls of the hive city with his armor covered in dust and nearly cracked in half. He personally carved the names of every lost Battle Brother into the Hall of The Lost. The Chapter's former grudging respect for Knight Houses has now turned into open mistrust and suspicion. Many brothers now believe machines of such potency should not be trusted to mortals without the longevity and strength of will to use them properly. The Chapter's future has brightened in recent days as the Knights of Ajax have discovered a cache of records from M35 written by a "Brother Kabiel" of the Dark Angels which describes a similar loss of geneseed potency and the efforts of his brothers and Apothecaries towards finding a cure or a workaround. While no cure was discovered, the procedures and potions mentioned in the files will greatly ease the Son's workload and will allow for more promising fields of study to be focused upon. Unfortunately, the records have been written by a Fallen Dark Angel, so Asriel and the Deathwing arrive to ensure the Sons of Ajax do not read too deeply into the records, lest they learn of the Fallen. A fierce battle between the Sons and the unidentified Deathwing breaks out, with many Sons throwing themselves in front of the Deathwing to buy time for the precious texts to be evacuated and the small force of Dark Angels are wiped out to a man.
Force Expansion
M39-080616 The Knights of Ajax sortied out to Cape Choral in search of both vile Orks and insidious heretics to destroy. Multiple skirmishes with the Sons of the Harvest and the local Orks allowed five more Scouts to be promoted to battle-brother status while ten other veterans were granted access to the Sternguard armories. Meanwhile, the shadowy Officio Assassinorum has percieved the growing instability of the Choral Systems and has readied their Calladius, Eversor, and Vindicaire agents for deployment, though the fearsome Culexes alone remains missing. Ten days later, a warp rift screams open and the Knight's Cruiser Inpenetrable Aegis comes screaming out, horribly mashed together with three other Chaos-tainted vessels. The Knights board the vessel to find all the mortal crew dead and the surviving Space Marines Holding back tainted crewmembers from the last surviving launch bay which contained two Thunderharks and a Stormtalon. Thirty terminators, both assault and tactical managed to survive and with the assistance of the Chapter they swiftly departed and Chapter Master Juche condemned the hulk to oblivion with a cyclonic torpedo launched from the battle barge.
Dreadnoughts: Castidian Fellfall-red sarcophagus, died defending the last outpost of Felgren Fortress from four Chaos Knights, missing most of his left side, he burns with hatred for enemy vehicles and has been interred in an Ironclad Dreadnought. Wrought a terrifying slaughter against Iron Warrior tank-thralls on Melchost. Jalos Andran-black sarcophagus, far right, died rallying the last of his squad under withering fire from a Space Wolf frost cannon. The Tech-priests were forced to saw off most of his frostbitten limbs, and put him into a dreadnought, where he deliveres ranged death to the Ajaxian enemies. Brother Holst-Green Sarcophagus, far left, one of the first marines to die since the Librarius Scourge. See below for record. M39-042816. The Knights of Ajax journeyed far and wide from the Gainz Sector where they were founded, secure in their battlebarges and the armament of the Imperial Navy. They arrived in the Naple System and seeing it rich in resources and with a lush green environment, the Chapter Master Brellon Juche decided that this was a suitable time to train and resupply. So they rested for a short while as the brothers and sisters repaired their bolters, painted their armor, and eagerly awaited their first engagement. On the way to the sector there had been an accidental voiding of two marines without their power armor. While many of the Chapter considered this an ill omen so soon after the Librarius Scourge which prompted their relocation, Chaplain Klen believed that the event signified the trials the Knights of Ajax must overcome and emphasized in his sermon that the surviving marine Brother Holst managed to hang onto his comrade's corpse and return it to the Apothecaries, though with severe damage to his lungs and arms. For his courage and service record, Holst was placed within a Dreadnought shell to bolster the Knight's armored forces with his lascannon and power fist. Holst's landspeeder was reassigned to two recently promoted scouts who eagerly took to their new transport. Meanwhile, the Knights of Ajax searched the sector, even treading back towards their own sector of Gainz, though with some disappointment, all they found was fuel resources and a happy populace that while welcoming, did not require the aid of Space Marines. Brellon Juche nevertheless resolved to return to the Naple System and use the spare stocks of geneseed to continue rebuilding the Chapter.while some of his captains opposed such a reserved action, Juche emphasized that their fuel reserves and Navigator's willpower was not infinite, and that surely the Sons would be put to proper use in time. Meanwhile, Chaplain Klen supervised the transformationof the few remainingscouts and eligible aspirants into proper Space Marines, forming them into Devastator squadrons under Gunnery Sergeant Huervo. For now, the Marines train, build, and wait, secure in their Chapter Master's confidence that the best is yet to come.
Imperial Fists Chapter Successors: Knights of Ajax 5-Founded to kill Orks, only to find there were depressingly few Orks to kill in the Gainz Sector. 93-Unknown Founding, records were lost when the Librarium was invaded by Eldar. The Chapter Master is pretty sure they are Fists though. Progenitor Chapter-Imperial Fists. 8-Altered Stock, some Gene Seed deficiencies. Chapter Demeanor-Brothers in Battle, friendly to allies. A Doomed Chapter, the marines can no longer reliably grow progenoids. A majority of the Chapter's resources are currently fixed on changing this and have sent back to Terra for reinforcements and AdMech assistance. Flaw: Pride in the colors-refuse to do anything that hides their colors and chapter livery, including joining Deathwatch. Many marines hold that if their Chapter is doomed to annhilation, they will not obscure their colors and live as proud sons of the Chapter. Chapter Legends: Chief Librarian Adrian North slew a daemon prince, was a stalwart enemy of chaos in an ancient age, saving the population of Ajax VII, who continue to provide aspirants and are the recruits for some of the Chapter's noblest heroes. His is one of the few records spared by the Eldar, perhaps in recognition of such a heroic act against Chaos. Chapter Master Brellon Juche boarded an Eldar Craftworld and slew many before returning in glory. The Eldar hate them to this day. Fleet-based chapter with 3 vessels fortunatly battle ready. The chapter retains a former Space Hulk called Heklor's Folly which has been overrun by greenery to train its aspirants. Recruits must survive the poisionous creeper vines and insectoid predators while they attempt to build fortresses somewhere in the Space Hulk and survive for the duration, ideally while capturing an enemy fortress, though the few that do manage this are marked for great things. Relatively distant rule, swinging by recruiting worlds once every few decades to collect aspirants. While jungle world aspirants have an initial advantage, the chapter is more impressed by individuals who come from different environments and manage to adapt quickly. Jungle Aspirants who try to go it alone and are arrogant may or may not be assassinated by the instructors, but they rarely become marines and never rise above battle-brother rank. Ships: Battle Barge The Shield of Man-Holds the Chapter's relics and remnants of the Librarium. Battle Barge The Bulwark Space Hulk Heklor's Folly Battleship Just Retribution Battleship Righteous Spear Unique chapter organization due to their dangerous status. Emphasis on lightning strikes and overwhelming force, with the reasoning being they will lose less battle brothers that way. The Chapter can't field Apothecaries, as they are all busy trying to fix the chapter's gene-seed problem. As a result, regular battle-brothers are stubborn and will not retreat without gathering their brother's bodies. All marines are now trained in rudimentary first aid and apothecary techniques. While this takes longer and has led to less specialized marines, the Chapter believes the unity and brotherhood fostered is worth it. Plus, it avoids the fate of the Celestial Lions. The chapter can currently field only four or five Librarians, after the Librarium was invaded and nearly destroyed by Eldar who had managed to disguise a portable Webway gate inside a psychically reactive crystal. The librarians are stretched very thin and they feel this leaves their brothers vulnerable to the depradations of the Warp. As a result, Chaplains have become increasingly important and central to the Chapter's identity, with many marines using "Confession" as a means to deal with the dread of a slowly dying chapter. The Chapter retains the ancient traditions of the Imperial Fists and many officers carry Power Swords or Power Fists. Furthermore, power fists are a point of friendly banter, with some considering them unsubtle and slow, while their owners prefer the powerful strike and the symbolic strength of the chapter to endure through the ages. The Chapter reveres Rogal Dorn's perseverance after the death of the Emperor, pointing to his acquiescence to the Guilliman Reforms, the Codex Astartes, and his destruction of the First Black Crusade as examples of fortitude and the need to adapt in difficult times. Recovery from their genetic disaster may still be possible, and every battle brother is instructed to treat his life with care, as every lost progenoid gland shrinks the possibility of survival. The Chapter is friendly with the Silver Skulls and has asked them for prognostication and librarius advice on multiple occasions, as their own Librarium is so depleted. Long enemies of the Eldar, the original Chapter Master's attack on the Eldar craftworld of Nil-Garad has led to 400 years of retaliatory attacks between the two factions. After the near destruction of their Librarium in M39, the Chapter obliterated the population of the Eldar maiden world of Yarseth and helped establish what is now a thriving agri-world there. Some mutter that the chapter's gene-seed disaster is the result of Eldar sorcery, but this remains unproven. Occasionally aided by Inquisitor Crestus Firma of the Ordo Xenos, who forged the first meeting to halt Eldar manipulation of a hive world and to ready the sector for the advance of the traitorous Sons of the Harvest. Chapter colors: yellow, red and black. Red helmets are reserved for veterans, and black shoulder pads for those who have survived the Librarius Scourge and are drafted int Chaplain Klen's Penance Squad.
