Nazdreg
Nazdreg Ug Urdgrub finally has a model again.
Man, this takes me back. The 3rd Edition Ork Codex this was my favourite character, so I always had to proxy him with my Ghazghkull (my new profile pic when I came back is the art used for him in the Return of Yarrick booklet).
I do like Nazdreg a lot, Bad Moons were my first favourite clans because of him (these days I tend to oscillate between Bad Moons and Blood Axes) and this is a really good-looking miniature (I particularly love the Kustom Blasta X being realized as just a whole different bunch of guns strapped together).
It does make me wistful because Nazdreg is one of those characters who I like a lot, whose concept I think is cool, but who sadly has never ever really succeeded at anything in the setting. His most famous battle at Piscina was an out-and-out loss and then he just sorta vanished halfway through his only important confrontation since then again Farsight.
I'd have loved if at least we'd get a story or two about him being cool and winning some battles (sadly even in Operation Imperator he's not actually mentioned at all really) but the new model is great.
I hope, though I know it's likely pointless, that with the new mini maybe in the Codex he'll at least get some offhand new lore mentioning some victories he has, but I know likely it won't. Morzog was introduced as a wholly new special character and was given virtually no lore about anything he's ever done so it isn't like GW feels a need to give Xenos characters any actual story to them.
But now I'm just being sad again so I'll stop here.
It is a really cool mini and I do like Nazdreg the most of any canon Warboss (save Klawjaw, the Mighty Mangler of Bork, the objectively most competent Ork Warboss to ever live).
Yeah, I can't really comment on what lore he'll come with. Hope for the best as per usual, pray that we get no lore over a bad/insulting story.
A nice take away from this though is that Nazdreg is being added to Total War. So now we can play him and take over the galaxy! If GW won't let him defeat Space Marines, then at least we'll be able to do it ourselves.
