Hi! I’m Kaitlyn. I’m soon to be 26 and working on becoming an. LPN. I love to knit and read books. I’m still relatively new to knitting and still learning. If I’m not reading, I’m practicing my skills!

The Chai Latte Cowl is an easy and nice pattern to do. Very beginner friendly. All you need to know is how to knit, purl, yarn over, k2tog, and ssk. This is the fourth I’m making this year.

Today is Indigenous People's Day.

As colonizers lose their minds online over even just the empty lip service the US government has given it, we can and should instead make today about paying direct attention to indigenous struggles, and backing efforts if and how the people say to.

If anyone can contribute materially, Camp Mni Luzahan is looking for warm winter items. They're an indigenous mutual aid collective that helps provide shelter/food in South Dakota, and the cold gets brutal up there.

Their social medias haven't posted updates for a while, but one of the people who works with the creek patrol said today (in a group I'm in) that yes, this is current and legit.

Spread this around wherever you think it'll get seen and responded to; especially craft groups if you're in any!

At my last company, one day someone in accounting approached me at lunch and quietly told me I need to ask for a raise because I was way underpaid.

They gave me a number to shoot for.  It was about twice than what I had been making at the time.

So I went online, did some research, found some figures backing up my claim, put it all together and went to my boss.

I got what I asked for.

If it hadn’t been for that person in accounting telling me I was way underpaid, I’d have never known.  I went from barely scraping by to being able to have a savings account and getting all my debts paid thanks to them.

You should at least check sites like salary.com to start the process of seeing what you should be making.

Except for the fact that 90% of the time you are under contract not to talk about your salary otherwise the company can sue you. Every job I’ve had I’ve had to sign that I won’t discuss my pay with other employees otherwise my employment is terminated and the company will take legal action.

Also if you are in Canada, Espace Tricot is owned by a black woman as well although many may not have known. A lot of the yarn companies are indie dyers so please support them especially since a lot of yarn festivals were canceled due to COVID-19
