He has said in interviews that he identifies with trans people and has said on Twitter that he uses he/they pronouns. He hasn’t outright said that he’s transgender as far as I know, but on his Wikipedia there is literally a part dedicated to his struggles with gender identity that he mentioned in interviews. They are located in his personal life section about a couple paragraphs in. I don’t think it’s enough to say he’s outright transgender but I think it’s silly to dismiss it entirely.

I suppose that makes sense. I was about to post something on this too. Yes, he has mentioned struggles and that he identifies w/ transgender people but hasn’t explicitly stated it. You’re right.

Although, I still find it rather annoying some people online outright say he is, like, with no solid evidence. I wasn’t technically saying it was a solid that he wasn’t trans but the people outright saying it are practically misgendering him, to an extent.

I hate when ppl make gender identity assumptions on people literally based off of tweets. Like… fuck you.

No, Gerard Way isn’t trans. He supports trans people but basing your ideas on the fact that “omg he wears skirts” and “omg he tweeted this a few yrs ago” is stupid and disrespectful.

What if I based me assumption on you wearing a dress because you were forced to as “you’re such a oretty girl” or if I based it off the fact as a trans male person you wear your hair long still but I make the assumption “oh she’s a girl with really pretty hair”

So no, stop calling Gerard Way trans when you have no evidence. It’s disrespectful and honestly? It makes you look like the type of person to call everything LGBTQ+ just cause of certain mannerisms.
