I don't know which of you needs to hear this but "narc" is not short for "narcissist" when someone calls you a "narc" for snitching they are calling you a "narcotics officer"
technically narc isnt even short for narcotics officer its just cant for Cop, I believe Roma in origin
I read years ago in a book that it was derived from nakk, Romani for nose, as in someone who always has their nose in other people's business
ITS DERIVED FROM "NARCO" AS IN "NARCOTICS" WHAT FUCKING BOOK
Okay you know what pulling back on my derision because i can see how this mistake would be made but narc and nark are etymologically unrelated
Etymology is always doing some shit like this
Convergent evolution.
Linguistic crab
Two entire linguistic traditions have merged to remind you not to be a fuckin narc
Just so you know, 15 years ago the first episode of Teen Wolf aired.
So happy birthday Teen Wolf!! 🎂
Choose your fighter looking ahhh
Favorite thing about renaissance faires is that they have fuck all to to with the renaissance. This thang is not about historical anything this is about dressing up like a fairy and watching a joust
#a samurai with a flintlock pistol sitting next to a guy dressed as a caveman drinking a styrofoam cup of dr pepper#and it fucks severely
It's not THE renaissance, it's A renaissance. Of what? Up to you
people who love you
happy birthday akechi!
Do you think I made Adrian too small
Ayyy , I've been into persona series for a while now but i just got to start drawing persona related stuff.
Shuake nation accept me plz.
theo has awful road rage.
liam encourages it because it's hilarious.
theo once said, "that guy drives like an idiot." and liam immediately replied, "GET HIS ASS!!"
theo nearly drove into a ditch laughing.
what if we all explode
This very production of Orpheus & Eurydice is now available to stream, free, for the month of June.
it’s sooo funny when rude customers encounter employees who can deny them service for the first time.
i was working at a little cafe where I could deny service over bad behavior, harassment etc. & mask mandates had just ended a week before & already people were being weird about me still wearing mine—an N95, the kind shaped kinda like a duckbill.
so this man walked in, looked at me sooo scathingly, laughed at me, and said “damn. never known a woman to choose…practicality over looks.”
And I just said, “oh. you can go, you’re not getting a drink.” And he said, “what???”
I said, “sir, you just walked in at 6 am & called women impractical and me ugly in one sentence.”
And he was so astonished he didn’t even argue he just turned around and left 💀🙏🏻 it was like he suddenly became self aware
One summer I was running ferry rides across a lake so people could see the waterfalls without walking 6 miles when a guy snapped my bra strap as he was boarding the boat. So i immediately threw him off, he started yelling for my manager, my boss cheerfully informed him that, yeah, she’s the captain of the boat and she can kick off anyone she wants. He goes to storm off, looks expectantly at his girlfriend, and she just goes, “Well, I’M not walking six miles, Michael! I’ll meet you back at the car!” and sits right back down!!!!
The expression on his face when he was told that he couldn’t get on the boat, then immediately told that his girlfriend was ditching him? PRICELESS. he just blinked at her and then stormed off like a child. I gave her a free hat and was like maybe rethink this relationship…….
i once had this fucker come up to order a beer. while i pour it he shows me the wanky fucking chemical structure tattoo on his arm and he’s like “hey. you know what this is” i was like “nah sorry” (never cared abt chemistry in school, plus having to look at a some rando’s pretentious tattoo gives me the douche chills). he decides to respond with “heh. you must not read many books”
i immediately stop pouring his beer. i reply: “heh. you must not want this beer.” thirsty boy immediately starts groveling like a worm “please please no i do want the beer im sorry im sorry” believe me when i say it was one of the most pathetic things ive ever witnessed
gotta love people immediately backpedaling when they realise that there are Consequences To Being Mean
I genuinely believe that part of why it has become so normalized to be openly callous and evil in politics is that customer service culture has trained affluent people that they can treat everyone they consider beneath them however they want and still be treated kindly.
It's also crazy how much more polite people are when they know they are talking to a government employee. Once a week I staff a state "wildlife support" phone line, and very rarely do I ever have a negative interaction, even though MOST of my job is telling people "no we don't perform that service, and there is no agency that does." "no, we can't help that animal, and neither can you, as that is illegal." I tell people "no" up to 30 times per day and I've only had a prickly customer about 3-4 times, and properly yelled at only once. (And if I get yelled at I am allowed to end the conversation.)
Meanwhile, when I worked at PetSmart grooming, I got yelled at MULTIPLE times EVERY day. Over a dog's haircut that I didn't even do.
I don’t know why but the thought of Isaac and Stiles fighting over Scott is just so funny to think about for some reason lmao??? I could only imagine the petty ass arguments they would get into and their failed attempts to get his attention.
I just KNOW for a fact Stiles would get frustrated coming over to the McCall house and not being able to have any alone time with Scott because Isaac is now sleeping over there. Like sure he has the key to Scott’s room but that’s nothing compared to Isaac LIVING there (which he’s so smug about). Ohhh this definitely drives his jealous ass crazy and it totally doesn’t keep him awake at night
Isaac feels the same way though with the dreadful knowledge that Stiles and Scott have known each other for far longer. Sometimes he’ll just ask Scott random questions out of nowhere to learn more about him (like asking him his favorite color or something). They would reminisce about old memories together and laugh at their inside jokes and Isaac would just be standing there awkwardly, confused because he has NO IDEA what they’re talking about and it kills him. Of course Stiles takes satisfaction in that.
I'm unbearably fond of my idea for Theo completely renovating the Dread Doctors entire base and turning it into a very nice living space. And completely taking over their old labs. Playing around with magic and science is always super fun. It'll also double as one hell of a base if the hunters were to attack again. It's the perfect place to turn into his very own technomancy fortified impenetrable fortress. It's warded to hell and back. When designing them Liam was the only person he made sure would always able simply walk in no matter what. That way Liam would always have somewhere safe to run if shit hit the fan when Theo himself wasn't around. It isn't till things actually go sideways again that he gives everyone else limited access through select entrance.
He's also bouncing off a lot of the Dread Doctors abandoned research on various stuff. From weapons to medicine. It's what he spends almost all his time doing. Liam definitely finds the who mad scientist thing attractive. Especially because it leads to Theo gifting him some incredibly interesting things as their relationship progresses.
Theo also builds himself an honest to god hoverboard at some point because Stiles bet he couldn't after seeing Theo had built for what was for all intensive purposes a lightsaber.
He also wards the shit out of Liam's house. And creates a far too over the top, but considering the circumstances reasonable, security system.
This is a fresh and interesting take!
Whenever I imagine Theo's future it's all normalcy and mundanity. I imagine after all that hell he went through he could use a normal ass apple pie life. I imagine him getting a blue collar job, mostly as a mechanic but I'm open to other offers. Of course the supernatural would keep coming at them but for the most part it's just domestic bliss.
But this? Why did I never consider this? The complete opposite of what I've always imagined, but it intrigues. His life has already been touched by the supernatural -and by touched I mean full body tackled- Why not lean into it? It's on his own terms now, he's in control so why would he shy away?
There's a Theo that's traumatized from everything that's happened. That wants to move on from it all, never step foot in another tunnel again. Try and forget every neat trick and biological factiod that'd been stored in his brain for later use. One that benefits from distance. One that's able to make something of himself that he's proud of. But there's also a Theo that moves on in a different way, that faces it head on. That goes into the heart of his trauma, those fucking tunnels where the screams still bounce off the walls and makes it all his own. That takes what the Doctor's forced upon him and uses it to the fullest. That transforms his past into something useful, fun even.
Neither is right over the other. I think I love both. Both leave my boy happy, I think.
Something I keep thinking about is how a lot of people consider it a good thing that children cannot by themselves consent (or refuse consent) to medical treatments. Some people do kinda get it that maybe it might be a problem with stuff like kids not being able to access trans healthcare, or kids being refused vaccination by antivaxx parents. But in general I see that most people are actually okay with this idea for the most part.
And like... you do get that that is kinda insane, right?
Because this is something that so often leads to suffering. And I am saying this as someone disabled, who had so many issues due to this in his childhood.
Just three examples: when I was 7, I was supposed to get checked for autism. My mother did not want an autistic child. Since she just could have a "neurotypical" child by refusing diagnosis, she did just that.
When I was 12, my mother had decided I needed a certain plastic surgery (one that had a minor health benefit, but still was largely a beauty thing). I did not want it. I really, really did not want it. We still went through almost the entire process until thankfully there was a doctor who went: "Wait, this is elective. I am refusing to do this on a child that does not want it."
And when I was 14 my mother refused to get me to the hospital when I had severe food poisoning. She refused me hospital treatment for almost two weeks. By the time I got actually taken to the hospital I was almost dead.
And here is the thing: all of this should just not happen. The doctor when I was 12 was cool, but... he refused to do the surgery because he had the right to make a conscience call. Legally my mother was in the right to force me into that elective surgery. And that just should not be the case.
A lot of children die and suffer due to their legal inability to consent - or refuse consent - to medical treatments. And I wish y'all would understand that.
Whenever this is brought up, people will go: "Oh, but parents will decide what is best for the child." And here is the thing: No, they are not. There is so much stuff out there showing that indeed, a lot of parents suck at this. Some out of malice, some because they are religious nuts, and some because they literally treat their kids like some sort of doll or some shit.
something interesting that could be picked up in TWP is how deeply Johnny influenced how Kit perceives love & relationships. Because I think it’s very all or nothing when it comes to Johnny; Kit feels like his father didn’t actually love him despite of his efforts to protect him, and it stems from Kit “taking” Rosemary away. Johnny’s love for Rosemary essentially cancels out his love for Kit, which leads to Kit believing you can only really love one person. It’s why (imo) Kit unconsciously creates a competition between himself and Livvy for Ty’s love & why Ty “choosing” Livvy over him causes him to believe Ty doesn’t like him at all. because that’s how Johnny’s love worked & what Kit internalised for 15 years.
and while obviously Tessa, Jem & their mutual 150 year long obsession with Will Herondale (& love for Kit and Mina) is a positive influence in this regard, I still think it’s something worth addressing, especially considering his relationship with Ty & how it has been effected.
