The NHL: we’re banning pride tape
Travis Dermott: no you’re not
The NHL: no we’re not
“I was actually told that the closest thing that I would ever come to professional hockey is if I married a men’s professional hockey player. It really shows how people value women in sports… In order for a sport to grown and be the best possible sport in the whole world, everybody needs to feel like they’re a part of it.”

“barbie wasn’t the first woman doll for girls” this and “the trailer was weird” that. have you ever heard of fun. have you ever heard of camp. have you ever been 9 and said your favorite color was blue because that’s what grown up girls say, but know in the back of your head that you wish you could paint your walls pink? no? i didn’t think so. but guess what this film could be for you if you just let go and HAVE FUN!!!!!!
They all would and at some point they all will.

The people defending Quenneville and saying he shouldn’t be fired over the SA situation he’s known about for 11 years, because his team is 7-0 is giving the same vibes of “let’s ignore the sexual assault issue because we shouldn’t disrupt the chemistry of a team playing well” in 2010 just saying
The 2008 Chicago Blackhawks first-round draft pick Kyle Beach identified himself today as the player abused by Brad Aldrich in an exclusive interview with TSN’s investigative reporter Rick Westhead.
John Doe, who has now publicly and willingly come out as Kyle Beach, interview with TSN is now posted. Those not in Canada are not geoblocked.
Updates on the Blackhawks sexual abuse case from independent investigations:
-stan Bowman, al macisaac, anyone there in 2010 basically out. Bowman still is team usa GM for the Olympics, no word on that
-John McDonough, bowman, Joel Quenneville, Jay blunk, Kevin Cheveldayoff present for meeting discussing case and decided not to report
-settlement with former blackhawks player and high school player who sued likely

Hey so uh. What’s going on with robin lehner v the NHLPA
This isn’t even all of them
More Info on Benzodiazepines:
Drew wheeler confirms; nolan Patrick (current teammate of lehner) was given non prescribed ambien and benzodiazepines with the Philadelphia flyers and didn’t inform him
This is a straight up mess but if anyone thinks that the flyers invented giving unprescribed medication to their players...I have some bad news for you about professional sports.
Not excusing it, and I adore Lehner for his mental health advocacy, but...it's a bigger problem than one can point a single finger at. Every sport, across the board.
All I can do is just…cry. For all the players, no matter how I feel about them, who have been treated like expendable chess pieces for the NHL to make money. It really feels crushing. I dont know why i’m surprised. No one deserves to be treated like that. Ever.
One concussion can change someone‘s life. 19 can be fatal. Especially having 4 in a span of 12 weeks. There is not a way someone’s body could heal from a concussion in 3 weeks. Especially if it’s repeated. It’s a good thing players are speaking out about the NHL. The evils that the league and it’s teams have hidden needs to be known about. Players aren’t robots. They’re people. Not pawns. Not toys. People. It’s about time that the world sees just what is happening behind closed doors. Because these guys are people. They’re someone’s son, maybe someone’s brother. They might be someone’s father or spouse. They deserve to be treated like people. Not pawns.
you can be concerned but to see someone be like “the nhl frequently controls our bodies specifically making us play through injury and drugging us up to do so, something that is documented and has led to literal deaths of people” and your immediate response is “ohhhh is this guy MANIC?” thats ableist actually. bipolar people can advocate for themselves or being outspoken or pissed off without having manic episodes and immediately bringing up someones mental illness when they do these things to discredit them is, in fact, ableist
