Ms Terry Farrell was really out here putting her heart and soul into Rejoined...sitting in on the casting to make sure they found someone she would have good chemistry with...delivering one of the best screen kisses out there in one take with no rehearsal...in a scene so moving it made them both cry afterwards...she still has a physical scar on her foot from where she slipped filming the rescue scene but pushed through so she didn't slow down production...playing every bit of the hope and the tragedy...all in the 90s when many shows including star trek had never done a same sex story or kiss before...are you even an ally if you aren't that dedicated to your character lezzing out

a lot of things seem hopeless right now. i just want to say that its not. despite everything, there are still good things. let me remind you, that-

there are over 243 kākāpo, and it is the first breeding season in four years. at least 74 of their eggs so far are fertile and have potential to hatch. in 1995 there were 51. [1]

there are 607 california condors as of last year. in 1987 there were 27. [2, 3]

there are 110 'alalā (hawaiian crow), while they were pronounced extinct in the wild in the 1970s-80s. 5 have been released into the wild in the past 2 years. [4, 5]

there are over 319 wild mexican grey wolves, after numbering only 7 in 1977. [6, 7]

there are at least 1300 wild przewalski's horses, after they were pronounced extinct in the wild with only 31 captive individuals in 1945. [8, 9]

hell, they still have sperm from the last male northern white rhino and are attempting to have a southern white rhino be a surrogate mom with his & the last two female's eggs. [10]

i know things can feel hopeless but i work in this field. there is still hope out there because people do genuinely care. even if it just reassures you about the environment around us, there is still some hope out there.

humans are not inherently bad. i know it's easy to say it but i promise that we are not. the assumption that all of humanity is evil and morally reprehensible for the extinction of species- yes, including species that we drove extinct ourselves- is discounting the work of millions of people trying to stop it from happening again. humanity is not evil. there is still hope, and there is still time. never forget that.

hey prev, dont worry! while there are still currently only between 8-11 vaquita individuals recorded as of 2024, the survey was also only done in a small region. their population has also actually stabilized and has not changed much, which is a great sign! in addition, there are active efforts to keep the Gulf of California clean and to remove illegal gillnets. I love the “captain’s log” mechanism in Star Trek as a method for time skips and exposition.

I am, however, devastated that we never got an episode where any captain’s voiceover is strained and slow. very precise about the events they’re describing. While the screen itself is showing the most batshit insane events and making it clear that the captain is trying VERY HARD to keep everyone involved out of a court martial.

Super Mario All-Stars contains a debug mode for Super Mario Bros. 3 in its code, which can be activated either deliberately by setting a single address in memory to a specific value (e.g. via a cheating device) or, curiously, by complete accident simply upon starting the console (as explained in my video here).

Two of the functionalities of the debug mode is the ability to swap between power-ups at the press of a button, and the ability to enter "free movement" mode whereby Mario slides freely around the screen in all directions instead of needing to walk.

If the free movement mode is activated while Mario is in specific animations, and then the power-up is changed during it, his sprite may become jumbled. While normally, the sprite simply changes to other parts of Mario's sprite sheet, a particularly amusing change occurs when swimming as Frog Mario and then swapping to Fire Mario while in free movement. This will make Mario assume a big "25" graphic alongside bits and pieces of his body.

Occasionally I see people(1) in the comments of posts(2) saying that if people are misunderstanding the OP(3), that must mean the post(4) was poorly phrased. But(5) it is nearly(6) impossible to phrase anything in a way that 100% of the audience(7) will understand(8). If most(9) responses indicate they understand the OP(3), the phrasing is probably(6) not the issue. At a certain point, you(10) have to learn to stop and consider whether your(10) first interpretation is the only or most reasonable interpretation. Trying to spell out(11) anything that anyone could possibly misunderstand quickly becomes unwieldy(12)

(1) By "people" I mean a variety of individuals from a variety of demographics. Some of these individuals may actually be bots, but I am working under the assumption that most individuals responding on Tumblr are human beings

IDK I think if cis men are being told that being fat will lower their testosterone and make them Insufficiently Masculine, and cis women are being told that being fat will raise their testosterone and make them Excessively Masculine, and fat trans people are being denied the right to medically transition if they're fat, and thin trans people are warned against HRT because it will make them fat (and this is said about both testosterone and estrogen HRT), and androgynous-presenting people are told that only thin people count as androgynous...
