Next Challenge - Half Marathon
In a bid to stop another recurring conversation about my grandmother's blood pressure, I changed the subject by suggesting loudly to my dad that we should run the Robin Hood Half Marathon. Now I'm signed up for it and can't get out without letting the side down.
In all honesty I enjoyed the training and the 10k race. I liked that the looming race provided ample motivation to get me out of the house and training, my reasoning being that if I sign up to do anything for fun, then it bloody well better be enjoyable. And running 10k without adequate prep isn't in my funcyclopedia.
A half marathon is twice as long as the previous race. I've never run more than 10k before and essentially this upcoming race is 100% longer. The terrifying idea of having to run twice as long as I ever have before, with my dad grinning like a leprechaun and lightly cantering alongside me as my whole body wants to collapse into a sweaty pain-racked marshmallow is weighing heavily on my mind.
With 7 weeks left to go, I've got to stop running purely for fun and start running because I have to.
