Thinking of the Pitt staff all showing up to parkrun on a Saturday morning

Santos would be half asleep, but she remembered her running belt and watch. She may have been hungover and may have thrown up at the 3k mark

She makes fun of Whitaker who has panic ordered running things online last minute, but the wrong size arrived

Robby would show up wearing a tshirt with a motivational quote on, and joggers (definitely not shorts.)

Abbots shorts would be camouflage, his sport prosthetic all locked in and ready. He definitely did a few push ups before the race started. He shows up with no headphones, no watch, no water nothing. Just running on pure adrenaline and good vibes

Dana showed up wearing a nice summer dress “I don’t be participating doll” she said. “I’ll be cheering ya on”

Parker and Shen showed up wearing matching outfits by mistake. Parker definitely was the quickest out of everyone

Lena never showed up because the grandkids needed looking after

Mel showed up in the sweetest pink shorts and white tshirt from her last 5k that she ran for a charity. The name of the charity and donation website written on the front

Langdon showed also half asleep but ready to beat everyone, he comes second

Samira shows up looking like a mob-wife. heads turned in her direction. Was it a fashion show or a 5k run? She can make both look hot

Jesse shows up looking hot as fuck in his little shorts, showing off his strong leg muscles. He accuses Parker of cheating because he was convinced he was gonna come first. He comes third

Mckay brought her son with her — they made the most out of it even if they didn’t finish the 5k

Javadi had her running vest and garmin. Everyone looks at her and she just shrugs. “I do this every Saturday? Don’t you?”

Everyone forgot to invite Al Hashimi but that’s ok because she showed up after she’s done her own 5k, about to run another

Joy snoozed her alarm and never bothered

Ogilvie went to the wrong parkrun

Garcia was a smoke show as always — Santos along with everyone else may have drooled

Princess and Perlah showed up at the finish line, iced coffees in hand, hot black coffee for Dana too

All my running of late has been “easy” and every long run I’ve done has made me feel very unfit. I went to parkrun today for the first time in January and had a great run. I negative split each mile and surprised myself a little with the paces. A good reminder that the most effective thing I can do is be consistent and keep logging those miles.

Also, I know parkrun isn’t a race but I can’t help but try and reel people in. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I took the long way to parkrun for barcode scanning. It was relatively comfortable. It wasn't easy, but at no point did I feel I couldn't do it. I can honestly say that I'm starting to feel like my old self. Even as I changed direction, and could see my shadow, I didn't feel as if it looked too shuffly. At times, I even felt quite strong.

It was odd, running so much of the ring road. Four roundabouts felt like old times. I was going to do the fifth one, but that would have taken the distance to about ten and a half km. If I'd planned to run for eighty minutes, I might have managed that. A couple of cars beeped at me. It made me wonder. Who sees you, when you're out running? You could genuinely be inspiring someone. They see a runner who's not slim, fast or athletic looking, and they could think, "I could do that!"

I think I might be getting over feeling self conscious too. I think that's amazing, after only three months. I'm even starting to feel like less of a fraud when I volunteer at parkrun. I'm a runner again. My mood is high today, aided and abetted by great weather, and the promise of more as the week goes on.
