“This is actually a cast glass sculpture believe it or not, and the glass was made after an initial clay model of a paint can which then was turn into a wax mold which was then turned into the cast glass. So it's an extremely involved in many steps process to get to what you see here. There is more significance to it than may meet the eye because this particular paint dulamel semi-gloss enamel in white is the kind of paint with which Gober has painted the majority of his sculptures over the last thirty-something years. What is the emotional human mysterious something that sets this paint can apart from one that you would have been using from the hardware store?
