yall are aware that you have the option to discuss things, right? like just jumping to making a callout post just shows how immature and gross u all are. it takes 5 minutes to explain to someone that their actions can be possibly damaging, especially if theyāre younger. callout posts arenāt always the right way to handle situations and yall need to realize that
Nice legs. Daisy dukes. Makes a man go. There he goes. Heās gone.

Also one time he was supposed to write a violin and piano duet, and he wrote the violin part, but he didnāt really feel like writing the piano part, or was too lazy etc. When the concert came up (he played the piano while a fiend played the violin) he set up a blank piece of paper (so people would think he was reading music) and improvised. After the concert he wrote it down so it could be published
okay iāve reblogged this before but can we just give a shoutout to the orchestra that had to sightread the overture to an audience at the premiere of an opera

Repeated Rapist andĀ Former Baylor frat president Jacob Anderson indicted for sexual assault will serve no jail time, not be registered as sex offender and only has to pay $400 fine
Anderson was accused of raping a 19-year-old woman at a 2016 off-campus party his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, threw under his leadership as frat president. During the party,Ā
Anderson took the woman, who was intoxicated after receivingĀ a drugged drinkĀ from him, outside to a āsecluded part of the groundsā where he then sexually assaulted as while she was gagged and choked. The victim lost consciousness during the attack, at which point Anderson left the scene, leaving her nearly choking to death on her own vomit.
Anderson was initially brought up on for these alleged crimes, and charged him with āunlawful restraintā instead, for which the office recommended three years of probation, a $400 fine, and counseling.
This is the 3rd case in which this same judge has been lenient towards sexual offenders.

āI just finished medical school. Ā Now Iām heading to residency, which is supposed to be even tougher. Ā Iāve been working sixteen-hour days. Ā Then Iām expected to study every night when I get home. Ā Some of my classmates only sleep three hours per night. Ā I tried that for a few months during my surgery rotation, but I ended up getting really depressed. Ā I felt completely depersonalized. Ā Everything seemed like a dream. Ā To make matters worse, a lot of the instructors are jerks. Ā I think they went through hell when they were students, so they feel like they should put us through hell. Ā On the first day of rotations, my attending physician told me: āIām an asshole, but Iāll make you a better doctor.ā Ā He made fun of me in front of other students. Ā He put me down in front of patients. Ā Heād threaten to kick me out every day. Ā I guess theyāre trying to weed people out and make strong doctors. Ā But theyāre just traumatizing people. Ā Theyāre making us apathetic. Ā I got into medicine because I really wanted to make a difference in peopleās lives. Ā But after going through hell, I just donāt care anymore.ā
I thought when I got to medical school things would be easier. Not that the work wouldnāt be hard, but that a little bit of the pressure would be removed. After all, itās pass/fail, and as everyone says,Ā āonce youāre in, youāre inā.
Midway through second year, my mental health has never been worse. I go to a school that is relatively supportive, with classmates who are, on the whole, genuinely kind people. I havenāt even made it to the wards yet, but I still feel beaten down. Iām tired. Iām sick of being constantly examined and nitpicked, of unclear expectations, of what sometimes feels like superhuman demands, of being told to do moreĀ āself careā when I donāt have time to take care of myself.
My advisor is kind and well meaning. She says things will get better third year when Iām not stuck in the classroom all the time, but she also reminds me that things are only going to get harder when I get to residency. She says this in the context of wanting me to get my mental health issues taken care of now, which is totally valid, but itās also devastating to hear that this is not as bad as it gets.Ā
No one feels bad for medical students or doctors, not really. The conversation is mostly about how we get paid too much, or how our lack of sleep puts patients at risk, or how something got missed because we just didnāt empathize enough with or listen to our patient. Sometimes it feels like no one cares if our quality of life sucks as long as itās not affecting patient care. āWe knew what we were getting intoā, and we get paid too much for anyone to feel sorry for us.Ā
Thatās fine, I get it. Weāre in the business of caring for people. We really are, in so many ways, privileged beyond belief. I got into medicine because I genuinely, truly wanted to help people. I wanted to be theĀ āgood doctorā that can empathize, that can really listen to and hear their patients. I wanted to give of myself every day. I wanted to be part of the solution, to fix āthe systemā. I wanted the ability to eliminate some of the pain and suffering in the world because I had watched my family suffer greatly due to the imperfection and limitations of medicine.Ā
Now I just feel tired, and broken, and sad all of the time. I feel deep regret for all of the life Iāve missed out on in the pursuit of medicine. All the sacrifices I made just to get here donāt feel worth it.Ā
Iām trying to get all of the help I can for the despair that I feel. Iām trying to get better at self care. Iām trying to be more resilient. Iām trying. There are some days when I feel like a worthless pile of crap for not being able to rise to the occasion, but I also have to think that, in spite of all the reiterations of how I need to take better care of myself, maybe Iām not the problem.
Friend, you are not the problem.
āI feel deep regret for all of the life Iāve missed out on in the pursuit of medicine.ā
I love medicine and what we are privileged to do, but same. We are not the problem. Iāve started making better choices for myself as a third year, and realizing itās ok for medicine to not be my entire life, but itās so hard to find balance.Ā
