"Ne ne, I'm home, little sister! I got something for you!" The girl whispered yelled out as she pulled open the old, creaky shoji. But as she opened it, there was no little sister suffering off to the side dozing off as she patiently awaited her big sister's return.
"Little sister?" She called out again, going fully into the worn down building she calls home. But still there was no response. Not a single peep.
"She's probably asleep. . . how cute~!" She cooed to herself as she tiptoed to their small shared room to take a peek at her cute sleeping face. But, there was no sleeping face.
The older girl's heart beat started to pick up as panic began to settle in.
The older girl could care less about making any noise as she tossed her small sack to the side and turned the place upside down. She didn't care to be punished, she needed to find her little sister!
Tears pricked her doe-like violet orbs and whimpered everytime she found that her little sister wasn't where she looked.
She looked once, then twice, and thrice in that building and around. HECK─ even a fourth time for good measure! But still no little sister.
Despite all the commotion, there was one thing wrong. Why hasn't her parents come and yelled at her for making a big mess and so much noise?
Quickly she stumbled to their makeshift room and threw open the door. Everything was gone, not a single trace of them.
The girl fell to her knees in defeat as she stared in disbelief into the room and let the tears fall. She hiccups and pursed her lips tightly, as to compose herself and crawl towards her own room. There, what she didn't notice before was the once neatly folded old and worn blankets disturbed from their dedicated corner.
It couldn't be, no way. . .
She shakily stood and carefully made her way over. . . and sure enough, the floor panel was removed to the side and her money she hid there for herself and little sister was no longer there.
She officially broke and let out a nasty sob as she collapsed down to the floor, curling within herself while her body violently shook with her weeps.
They took everything from her.
The girl wasn't sure when she fell asleep, but the melodic chirps of nearby birds and the sun's bright rays leaked through cracks of the age-old wood that the house is made of, stirred her from her not so good slumber with a useless and empty feeling in her as she fluttered her lashes and rubbed the sleep from her now dull violet orbs.
Usually, every morning she'd wake up with a huge smile and cheerfully wake her dear little sister from her dream filled rest, but her body and mind knew better this time as she stayed lying limply on a wooden, splintering floor and stared ahead of her towards a blank wall.
The fear of reality filled her as she still denied it repeatedly within, despite all the evidence that was before her the night before.
As if that was real, what a sick nightmare. . .
But that wasn't enough to convince her mind otherwise as the waterworks started back up and flowed down her cheeks and the bridge of her nose from her lying sideways and curled into herself.
What a cruel and lonely fate that she had to accept
Many days had passed since the day everything was taken from her. But she recovered herself and took action to plan and get everything she needed for her travels. It took long and unpleasant nights, but it was well worth it for the little bit of extra money that could last her a while until the next time she has to put herself in that situation. Hopefully she wouldn't, but anything to survive in this cruel world.
A smooth, deep yet cold voice called from behind, placing a firm hand onto her shoulder that made her come to a halt.
A small gasp passed her lips when she turned her head, automatically entranced in red wine orbs. "Yes?" She squeaked. "If this is about my services, I'm done for the day. Try again in a few days." Her lips pursed as she tried to keep a confident front.
"No, none of that." And a feigned kind smile formed on the man's pale lips. "I'm simply here to make an offer."
"Yes," he hummed "what if I could give you a better life?"
Better life? Who is he kidding? What made her life better was already gone, and she has heard this offer one too many times. Plus, it all turned out to be for their own desires and made her pay in return for their 'kindness', and not in money.
Her brows furrowed as she yanked her shoulder free from his grasp and started back into the direction she was head in before. "No thank you."
This irked the man slightly, but he knew to remain patient. Especially with this girl after observing her for a couple months and the life that she led.
He tucked his hands in his pockets, sporting a dulled look on his face but his voice remained a kind tone.
"Not even for the sake of finding your sister?"
That halted her movement, eyes widening in fear.
Slowly she turned, giving the man time to return that fake smile of his back onto those lips of his with the slight tilt of his head.
"Quite enough, little one."
"Don't mess with me," She gulped. "That's a sick joke. . ."
"I'm one of many things, but I never joke. Now," he freed one of his hands to outstretch toward her. "What do you say?"
Hesitance was obvious in her stature as she held her hands to her chest.
Could this man really know?
How could he? He could possibly be going on a guess and messing with her to get his way. Like hell she'd let that happen.
But then again, little sister. . . she missed her dearly and would sometimes cry for her until she fell asleep. She missed hugging and cuddling her and telling her the many dreams she had planned out for them.
Memories sifted through her mind, a sudden downcast look on her features as she clutched her hands tightly together.
She did tell herself anything to get her dear sister back,
