KomaNami Bowling
“Have you ever bowled before, Nanami-san?”
Nanami thinks for a moment. A chorus of pins crashing comes from the other side of the bowling alley.
“I have,” she says. “You just need to aim and throw with enough strength, right? That’s how it is games, at least.”
“…So, your experience is bowling in video games.” Komaeda’s laugh is a little awkward. “As expected of the Super High School Level Gamer, but I think the real thing will be a little different.”
They cross the laminated floor, shoes squeaking. Nanami lifts a bowling ball, and her eyes widen.
“Oh… It’s pretty heavy.”
“Don’t worry, Nanami-san!” Komaeda cheers. “I’m sure you’ll do great!”
Pushed forward by praise, Nanami stares down at the opposing pins. She can feel Komaeda watching with anticipation. Breathing in, she steps forward, aims, swings, let’s go…
The ball rolls straight into the gutter.
Nanami deflates.
“It’s your turn, Komaeda-kun,” she mutters, head down as she walks past him.
“Ahh, um… It’s okay, it’s okay!” Komaeda says, flustered. “It’s the first time you’ve bowled for real, right? So, ah…”
“It’s fine. I’ll try again when you’re done,” Nanami grabs a chair and sits down. She slumps slightly. “But my pride’s taken a critical hit, so I need to recover.”
Komaeda nods, concerned, and takes a bowling ball. He steps towards the bowling lane… and trips.
And, of course, he falls flat on his face.
And, of course, the ball rolls.
And, of course, all the pins are knocked down.
…
…
Nanami doesn’t want to play anymore.
