Tonbo X Ibiki that’s all I have to say and want your opinion on
I'm assuming you're using the X as its original indicator of pairing type: a romantic relationship?
Hmmm.... I don't really see it, but if you enjoy it, then go right ahead! As long as they're both happy like they deserve :)
I do think they get along well in general professionally, and that Ibiki respects him as a subordinate. Probably leaves him in charge more often than anyone else when Ibiki is away.
.
.
I think a grand total of maybe TEN? of my two hundred plus boops received today did NOT come from @kagami--uchiha lmfao
"And X amount of others" LIES
Lies! It was ALL Kagami! 😂🥰
Ibiki: boops with a single headpat
Inoichi: boops with a fingertip on the nose
Yūrei: nose boops with small static shock (stay away)
@hatakefamily
The jōnin lounge could use some renovations, Ibiki mused to himself, standing in the doorway with his hands as well as a few scrolls in his pockets. Even if he didn't linger there often, he'd still mention it to Kakashi.
When Shizune appeared and waved him forward with a smile, Ibiki smiled back and thanked her before stepping into the Hokage's office, closing the door behind him.
"You've been at your desk an awful lot today," he commented as he pulled one of the scrolls from his pocket and set it down.
Kakashi’s almost too tired to respond. He knows Ibiki is right, and he hates that he is.
“I used to be a shinobi,” rubbing his hands over his face he sighed. “I protected people. Made sure shit got done. Now,” lowering his hands he glanced around the office.
It was organized, clean, and so very empty.
“Ah, it doesn’t matter,” he waved the thought away and focused on the scrolls Ibiki had set on his desk. “I hope you’re doing something more interesting with your day at least.”
Ibiki's smile faded, one eyebrow raising as he took in Kakashi's commentary.
"Would you hush with that?" He rapped the Hokage lightly on top of the head with one of the other scrolls, bouncing it off the silver spikes with a small pff! "I'll remind you some of us haven't taken a field mission in about ten years, in case you've forgotten."
Dropping the rest of the scrolls on the desk, he slipped one hand back into his pocket and gestured between himself and Kakashi with the other. "Just because we do it from behind a desk doesn't mean we protect people any less than we used to. We're still shinobi. And you're the Hokage, Kakashi. Not some feudal Lord holed up in their estate."
He paused to let that sink in.
"If you're feeling that sorry for yourself, let's go to dinner later, hm? Sign these budget increases for me and we can even put it on the department's tab." That was a joke, mostly.

The short version explanations of verses:
Canon compliant -
What it says on the tin, Ibiki's age/rank/backstory/ timeline aligns with canon. Possible inclusion of my OCs but only if you're cool with it (they don't really affect the overall plot)
Canon adjacent -
Ibiki is 35 as of the beginning of part 1 of the series and holds the rank of Jōnin. Idate is deceased, for around ten years by that time. My OCs Tsuchida Yūrei and Suikuro Kaiyō are definitively included and have some impact on the plot (not always the same amount, discussion is of course always welcome)
Canon divergent -
Plotting is encouraged and requested because this can vary wildly, from several AUs to my own "default" verse where thanks to some... shenanigans, we'll call it, during the 4th war, Inoichi and Shikaku are still alive
@morino-ibiki
Inoichi's head raised from his desk before the shadow of the much larger man had even fallen through his doorway, already feeling the entirely familiar signature begin to approach. He smiled up at Ibiki, laying his pen to the side.
"Ibiki, good morning. What can I do for you?"
@selenophilephile
"Hayate, hello." Ibiki didn't frequent the jōnin lounge much anymore, so it was a pleasant surprise to run into his old teammate when he did make his way there.
"I hear we're both assigned to the chūnin exams this year."
@mushroombitchboy
"Oi!" The door to R&D is pushed open with a rap on the frame before the medic enters. "Your team is due for physicals." Red eyes narrow behind black frames. "And don't even think about avoiding them either. Ibiki already made me come all the way over here to let you know, so if you get any bright ideas, I would check in with Mozuku before you try."
The shinobi looked up from what he would say is a report, other might say a primitive interpretation of what the Japanese language is. They met the eyes of Yurei, doing their best not to smirk, “Well considering I can talk to Mozuku it can’t be that bad, and are shenanigans or general tomfoolery also banned?”
Junpei reached behind their desk and pulled out a neon pink can of caffeine and pulled out another one to offer to the tired white haired man, “I promise my team will get a reminder about physicals.”
"Pass, thanks." The eyes dropped briefly to the can and then back to Junpei's face. "I'll remind you that you are included in your team, Muranaka. And if you want to set a proper example, then you had better be the first one in my office, don't you think?"
His arms folded across his chest as he leaned against the doorframe sporting his own smirk now.
"Did I say talk to Mozuku? No... no I don't believe I did."
He only shrugged and put the drink back in its place, “Oh doc, you and I both know ‘proper’ isn’t the best word to describe me, besides I don’t know why they won’t let me do my own physical at this point, in fact I could do it right now!” They stood up, did a big stretch and let out some deep breaths, “Seems stable to me.”
At the mention of Mozuku his smirk faded from Jun’s face, “Ah, I’ll make sure to send him flowers…”
Yūrei didn't bother correcting Jun or enlightening them on Mozuku's condition. Ibiki never let him impart serious detriments to the team's health anyway, nor did he want to. But the medic had spent many enough years with the T&I team and Ibiki himself that he knew the minds of others would often do most of the work for him when it came to filling in the blanks on unknown suffering.
Besides, Mozuku would only be tasting metal for another day or so. The overlaying static had already faded, based on the lack of small zaps followed by a yelp over the last few hours.
"Last time I checked, you never trained on conducting physical exams with chakra, kid." Nevermind the fact that Jun was a full adult, Yūrei was still old enough to be his father. Or close enough anyway.
He stood, pushing himself off the doorway and rapping on it with his knuckles one more time. "Tomorrow. My office. You have until midnight to see me, got it? And I want the rest of your team by the end of the week."
@thriceboundhome
"Hey now, where are you off to in such a hurry, eh?" Inoichi straightened up from adjusting several of the larger planters beside the door of the flower shop, dusting his hands off as his head tipped to the side. "Is everything alright?"
Quinn skids to a stop at the question. Grinning when she finds the man by his shop, making her way closer to him. “ I'm not in a hurry, per say,” she tucks her arms behind her in a poor show of innocence. “Just..going a bit fast. Ya know, things to do. People to see.”
"Right, right..." His smile is warm and reassuring even as his gaze is entirely intelligent.
"So what sort of things to do and people to see? Must be important, kicking up dust behind you to get there?"
The girl squints at him. Either he's on to her or he's going to be. And she does think to conjure up a believable excuse to cover herself but he speaks and she forgets it. “Am I really kicking up dust? Are my pants dusty?”
She starts patting down to get off dust before he can answer. Twisting to see the back as well.
She still hadn’t answered him. Interesting. They might only have passing familiarity, but this still seemed a little too evasive.
Which probably meant some sort of mischief.
Inoichi extended his Sensing out toward her. Lightly, not enough to actively brush his chakra against hers. Oh? Another one incapable of expressing chakra outside of their physical body. But still plenty of signature within for him to read…
It flickered and sparked, shifty and uncertain. Apprehensive, even.
He kept his smile and slipped his hands into his pockets. “You certainly were.”
