Kiddo who’s so used to taking care of themself. Making their own pasta, cutting off their own crusts, filling their own cup, putting bandaids on their own owies. Kiddo who spent so long taking care of themselves and self soothing they don’t know how to act with a carer now looking out for them. Instinct tells them self soothe, to be quiet and take care of it themselves.
Their carer finds them all the time, standing on a stool to stir pasta they’re making, muffling their cries with a teddy bear or cleaning up their own scraped knees. And carer is trying to be patient, rushes in and tries to take over so kiddo knows they’re not alone and they’re being taken care of now.
“I tan do it…”
“I know you can, button. But I wanna do it for you, okay? I like taking care of you.”

Friendly reminder that you can talk to your brain like a beloved innocent little kid and it works probably better than you’d expect
“Wow this is pretty rough huh…let’s think of some good things instead! What are some things we’re looking forward to?”
“I have an idea, lets pretend we’re in slow-motion, even our breathing and blinking is slooowwww”
“Quick I need your help it’s really super important! Tell me every single [color/animal/etc] you can possibly think of”
“Hey buddy, do you maybe want your favorite snack? I bet you’re pretty tired huh…how about we have a little nap/go to bed early tonight”
Doesn’t always have to be for handling negative stuff either in fact doing it in neutral-positive situations will help you remember it’s even an option in times of distress. And in general it’s just very healing, promotes self-worth, etc.
(no specific source other than that one of my lifelong special interests has been How To Be Better In Every Way Because Everthing About Me Just Seems Wrong)
🎒 “mama packed you some goldfish in case you get hungry while we're there, ‘kay sweetheart?” she picked you out special pokémon crackers at the store because she knew how excited you'd get.
🧃 “do you want mama to put your gatorade in your cuppy, tiger?” she asks as she's already pouring it into your dino water bottle. she knows you're more likely to stay hydrated if you have your favorite cuppy.
🔫 “wanna bring your wagon bubba? we can fill it up with water balloons and have a water balloon fight! that is... if you think you stand a chance against mom!!!” you squeal and nod your head so fast it makes you dizzy. your mama gathers the balloons, your wagon, a bucket, and a hose from the garage and helps you fill up as many as your wagon can handle.
🧸 “which stuffie(s) should we bring on our adventure today, little guy?” your mama says as she gets your plushie bin out from your closet. she helps you pick out the most durable stuffie(s) for a field trip to the park and makes them a comfy spot in your backpack for the journey.
🧴 “come here munchkin, let's get some sunscreen on you. i wouldn't want my baby to burn up :(” you let out a small grumble but secretly smile to yourself, knowing your mama will always love and protect you.
🚸 "remember to look both ways before crossing the street kiddo. i gotta keep my boy safe!” she says as she takes your little hand in hers. you squeeze two of her fingers as you cross the street, nervous when the cars pass by you. when you reach the other side, your mama gives you a kiss on the cheek for being brave and safe!
🌈 “come sit next to mama. can you show me what you can draw with your chalk honey?” she pats a spot on the pavement next to her. you sit with her on the cool ground, knees touching, and focus on your drawing, hoping to impress your mama. when you're finally ready, you reveal your masterpiece and she beams with pride.
🍦 “does my tiny boy want something from the ice cream truck, hmm?” your mama asks when you're taking a break from playing. you walk to the ice cream truck together and she lets you pick out any treat you want.
A very colorful box braid/rainbow beads/crayony board for @honeyedbrownbear !! I'm so excited for you!!! I'm sure your braids look awesome!! :D Thank you for requesting!! This one was so fun to make!!! 🩷🩷🩷
Wanted to join in for agepril and spread a little joy! Not all regressors are the same, we come in every size, color, disability and gender. No matter who you are or how you regress, you’re valid and loved! Thanks to @mitsukkii for coming with this lovely event!
A flag for littles who’s regression feels angelic, pure, and involves themes of angels, puppys and soft colors. Angelpup littles may enjoy nicknames like Angel, puppy, pup angelface, little angel/pup or other similar names.
Angel-pup littles may also experience a euphoric feeling when regressing. almost as if they’re floating on soft fluffy clouds ☁️
Angel-pup littles may also enjoy the concept of having ears, a tail or angel wings 🐾🦴🌟💫🌠
Agere Activities for Little Scientists: A Masterpost
...that aren't just coloring! Brought to you by a caregiver and STEM major.
Below is an updating collection of websites for things to do when regressed that revolve around STEM. Activities include videos, experiments, worksheets, reading, crafts, and games. Fields include space/astronomy, physics, zoology, water science, anthropology, paleontology, ecology, biology, and more! I've separated them by reading comprehension needed, with green being dedicated for younger headspaces and yellow being websites for adults AND kids. All sites are AI free and completely SFW. Happy learning!
NASA
NASA has a tons of free opportunities you can learn about the planet, our solar system, and beyond! NASA+ has video series and is free and has no ads. On NASA Space Place, you can find tons of fun activities to explore the galaxy. NASA Kids is similar, but has a broader focus. On NASA's games & interactives page, you can get free 3D visualizations, games, tours, and even hear the sounds of space. They also have apps for both IOS & android.

American Museum of Natural History
Explore fun topics ranging from anthropology to water science to microbiology in games, reading, videos, and hands on activities you can print out on OLogy, their website made for kids.
*If possible, please check out and support your local museum. It's a great way to get involved and learn more about your community and what came before it. We don't bite!

Science Journal for Kids
Great resource primarily for teachers, but clicking on any of the lessons gives you access to the original academic paper, more resources, and a PDF with the lesson reading and discussion questions! It can be fun to go through a few and keep a journal of your thoughts. These lessons can individually come in higher and lower reading levels and you can sort by elementary-upper high school level.
SJFK Website
PBS
PBS Kids has an entire page dedicated to fun science games! They also have NOVA Labs where you can do interactive labs exploring RNA, weather, cybersecurity, evolution, space, and more. Some are animated and aimed at a younger audience.

Wild Kratts
I wouldn't have ever wanted to go into STEM if it weren't for these guys. The Kratt Brothers dedicate their lives to animal conservation and sharing it with younger generations. On their website, there are tons of free activities and games where you can learn about animals under the Play & Learn menu! They also have family-friendly videos as well.
Wild Kratts Website
PhET Interactive Stimulations
With options for every grade level, you can explore a ton of different concepts in chemistry, physics, earth science, biology, and math. While many of the activities require outside direction, you can still play around and find your way! Sometimes it can be more fun to observe and learn that way. :)
PhET Sims
National Geographic
Similar to PBS! The NatGeo Kids website has games, videos, and readings to explore a range of topics.

i love autistic age regressors (and being one too)
• i love how echolalia turns into play (quoting shows, copying tones, animal noises, favorite words)🎧
• i love how stimming and regression blend together like for me oral stimming with a paci🍼
• i love how routines & sameness can become part of regression
• i love how sameness doesn’t feel boring it feels safe in age re🧸
• i love how we build very specific little setups exactly how we need them & that’s what lets us relax
• i love how regression can make the world feel more predictable when everything else feels too loud or confusing!!!🫠
• i love how special interests come into regression with us
• i love how we can play by lining things up, sorting, stacking, repeating & that is real play!
• i love how parallel play feels natural for us just existing near someone safely without pressure :) age re really allows for this even in online spaces🫂
• i love how our “little selves” aren’t always fully different from our big selves but i also love when they are
• i love how we can be extremely sensitive to many things and how regression can soften that intensity (sometimes at least… lol)
• i love how certain textures can instantly calm us
• i love how safe foods can become grounding rituals
• i love how our bodies show our feelings more
• i love how some of us need more support when regressed and some don’t & neither is “better” (this goes for not regressed too)🩷
• i love how regression can be the only time we feel fully unmasked 🎭
• and that it exists as a space where we don’t have to perform
• i love how trust means everything (who we regress around, who sees us like that)💖
• i love being an autistic age regressor!
• i love that even when i get overwhelmed i have a space in myself that at times feels gentler even with big upset feelings
• i love the autism spectrum and community♾️
• i love that i have seen so many of us in age re spaces
• i love us even though sometimes it’s the hardest thing to deal with!❤️🩹
April is Autism Acceptance Month and I just want to take a moment to talk about autistic age regression in a way that’s rooted in love. It’s not the same for everyone because autism is a spectrum and so is how we experience regression but that’s exactly the point! There’s no one “right” way to be autistic or to need comfort. I see you & I love you. 🥰 I know autism & regression aren’t always the easiest things to deal with but we’re still here, doing our best which is what matters. It’s okay to struggle!! We’ve got this even on the days it doesn’t feel like it. 🌈♾️
