DIRK "RETRO" TAYLOR
Meet Dirk! Arcade enthusiast and video game nerd who worked at a shitty arcade in downtown Miskatonic. The Dunlaps needed a technician who was easily disposable, and their prayers were answered. No family, no friends, basically a nobody whose absence would only be noticed by the starving stray dogs he used to feed. They wondered if the human conscience could be transmitted into the digital world in case the body was damaged or destroyed. Virtual immortality, basically, and Dirk was the guinea pig for all this to happen.
After they has conducted their experiment (which they assumed has failed) they chucked his body into an arcade machine that was misplaced into the Arcade he used to work at. Turns out his conscience was now merged with the game itself! A few months go by without any problems (the stench of rotting flesh was mostly covered up by the staff), but when a bunch of kids storm into the arcade and try cheat codes on him. Those kids are later found dead, and the arcade closes due to this.
Fast forward and the arcade is empty and desolate. One night, teens break in and start wrecking the place, emptying the arcade machines for any extra coins that might be left (and also just destroying shit for fun). Teens? Also found dead. Gobbled up by some possessed arcade machine.
(DISCLAIMER THAT THIS IS VERY LAZILY WRITTEN... IF IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE ITS BECAUSE I MADE IT WITHIN 3 HOURS)
Dirk has connections to all the electronics in the Arcade and the only reason he isn't connected to the rest of Miskatonic devices is because the arcade has it's own power source and isn't connected to the city's powerlines. MC would probably encounter him while exploring the abandoned arcade and turning on the power for fun before getting zapped into the game.
His sprite in game would be pixelated and the UI would change too (working on the design rn) and you'll meet him either by progressing through the game levels normally (+1 bloodlust for that one) or by inputting the contra code through the choices available (he will be PISSED at you bu also impressed by your knowledge)
MC's choice if they wanna bring the slashers with them into the game BTW (relationship sheet of him and the slashers coming soon)

"My name's Roan! I uh, work as the Tech Director in Miskatonic Theatre." Roan extends a hand for Themis to shake, though it's kinda awkward since his hand is visibly trembling.
