@korvasrising
has anyone gotten their ‘contact us’ tickets addressed recently? I know they probably have some backlog from holiday break but it’s been a week and a half. My accent is listed as the incorrect species so I can’t sell them?
So I did a skin while ago that sort of looked like jelly, but it didn’t seem to be selling so I re-purposed is as a skin. Hopefully it is more utilitarian that way. They are called Hot Belly and Dipped in Gold.
Go here to order it from my shop!
I’m trying out that new online pet site called Furvilla, and I am handing out referrals as well. It’s a game where you collect animal villagers you can customize, and choose careers for them to pursue. If you want to try it out you can just click this link, or find me (Birdman, 15409).
Right now there are a lot of fires being put out, but if you want to get in early on the drama then come jump in.
For fun I tried my hand at rendering some jelly wildclaws, hope you enjoy!
If you are interested I may also sell these as skins in my shop. Though I don’t know what colors to sell exactly... so I can start with the Amber and Red and see how it goes. Let me know if there are other colors you like!
Don’t get me wrong, I love snipsnaps, but we have to talk about those back legs at some point. All I can imagine is them tromping around with their tooshies up in the air like “bitch i know u jealous of these legs”
So…. I had an idea to make a site that would effectively act as center for accent preorders. Basically, sellers would be able to create an account on this and upload accents/skins to their shop, and link to the preorder page in their shop thread on the forum. Customers could then preorder it from that page. The site would manage preorder levels, as well as generate a pinglist for buyers or a general pinglist for people who want updates for everything in your shop. No more having to keep your own pinglists or use fancy spreadsheets to maintain all your accent sales.
Here’s a few mock-ups I did earlier. I know they look horrible but it’s just to show the general gist of the idea. :p
As far as server-stuff goes, the site would have to rely on donations. It would cost webspace to do this but it probably wouldn’t be very much.
If people would be interested, can they please let me know :) Any questions, just ask.
/Tags my awesome accent-making buddy @orb-bro in this
I would definitely use this! For buyers and sellers it would also be a great place to advertise and tag accents without using GASP.
i didn’t check this dragon’s colours before buying her for a breeding project so instead of exalting her i thought i’d just sell her on.

A proposal: Treasure Gene price regulation
Here is a list of (treasure) Primary Genes and their Marketplace prices, in approximate order of release:
Tiger - 135,000
Clown - 175,000
Speckle - 125,000
Ripple - 250,000
Bar - 250,000
Vipera - 235,000
Piebald - 235,000
Cherub - 185,000
Giraffe - 225,000
This list is… confusing. It makes zero sense. Why is there such discrepancy in the prices? Why does Bar cost 250,000, but the much more recent Cherub only cost 185,000? The Secondaries and Tertiaries also have pricing that seems to defy logic:
Stripes - 90,000
Eye Spot - 110,000
Freckle - 90,000
Seraph - 125,000
Current - 165,000
Daub - 165,000
Hypnotic - 185,000
Paint - 165,000
Peregrine - 140,000
Hex - 160,000
Secondaries are just as confusing as Primaries. Tertiaries actually seemed to achieve a stasis for a while, until Thylacine arrives with a randomly lower price tag:
Gembond - 200,000
Underbelly - 150,000
Crackle - 190,000
Smoke - 190,000
Spines - 190,000
Okapi - 190,000
Thylacine - 155,000
Here are the Primaries and Secondaries in graph form:
There is technically an upward trend, but that’s only because the original three Primaries and Secondaries are included. Without them, there is actually a downward trend in pricing. There is no reason that Ripple and Bar are more expensive than the newest gene, Giraffe (225k) except allowing that the FR staff prices things purely by trial and error. (It also seems like they priced Cherub as if it was released with Seraph, but since it was released recently the low comparative price doesn’t make any sense.) The random prices of the Secondaries are also weird. (Why is Hypnotic more than Paint even though Vipera and Piebald cost the same? Why is Peregrine so cheap and then Hex more expensive following it, but Hex is still 5k less than Paint?)
It seems like everything is purely random for the sake of emulating some kind of real world discrepancies in prices. For example, two shirts could cost differently because one is a high-quality fabric and the other is not, so even though they are both shirts, one is more expensive. BUT that doesn’t work for genes! There is no gene inherently more high-quality gene than the other; Bar costs more than Cherub just because it DOES. Objectively they are both just primaries, some people will like one more than the other. And supply and demand can’t factor in, because the supply is INFINITE. There are not less Bars than Cherub. But there is less DEMAND for Bar than Cherub because one is older and less trendy, which SHOULD affect the price. Bar should technically cost less than Cherub because less people want to buy it right now.
THUS, my proposal.
Firstly, I propose that all genes of a type (Primary/Secondary/Tertiary) should cost the same. All Primaries should be, for example, 175k. (Maybe not including the genes that existed when the site opened – “legacy” genes.) There’s no actual reason they should cost different. HOWEVER, to allow for actual existing increased demand for the newer genes, I propose that all new genes should cost MORE (for example, 225k) for the first month or two following their release. After that time period, they will then decrease in price to 175k. That way, people can just wait and get the cheaper price, or be trendy and fashionable and spend a little more for new genes.
I am not sure this is the best solution, but it’s just undeniably super weird that Bar still costs 250k and the much more recent Cherub costs 185k.
I also really wish that genes that have been out for more than a year also should be reduced in price by 20%, as you can't gain profit from them anymore, they are usually just for gen1 projects.

Scratching away at an accent concept. Much needs to be done to it still but want to get some vibes? Maybe critique or somethings.
Would anyone be interested in this, or some other permutation? Maybe a different breed?
I like this a lot. Might get it if you finish rendering it in copper.

You do realize that FR has moved to an automated system for rendering genes, right? They announced this a while back. So instead of making every single gene by hand like they used to (which is infeasible for any breeding site, the poor artists) they now only have to make a template and can have it batch produced, with the exception of irishim and it’s weird gradient. So it literally has nothing to do with feeding the artists, which I fully support by the way – this is literally the Staff making the laziest thing they POSSIBLY could and trying to make a HUMONGOUS profit off of it because likely, it didn’t even require the input of one of the artists to produce this. It’s a single fill layer at like 15% opacity.
But like, here, humor me – even if you did make every one of these by hand (why do you hate your Staff if you did this,) it wouldn’t take very long to make these images, frankly. You could go about it several ways but the way i would do it, is make the gradient filter for each color, save it, and then apply each color as a new layer over the dragon, resulting in a single file with 117 layers that can be read and accessed for the dragon as the site needed. It’s a lot faster than making the….. 9204? Images you need. (dragon breeds x gender templates x offspring templates x old and new colors.) You have noticed that, if you open-image-in-new-tab on a dragon in the scryshop, it presents the information as breed1sex2color3, etc, right? This is how a lot of sites do it. Basically you take the time to make 117 gradients for each color required (and that would take like, maybe half an hour, an hour if your computer’s slower at the most,) then apply to each dragon template. Eyecolors are loaded separately; accent and skin artists know that already. The whole thing is read from the server and the dragon you own is spat out at the end, likely as some kind of fixed value so you can’t manipulate them via the url. (Not that you could make those changes stick from your side anyway.)
But let’s say that I’m wrong and they actually made every single fucking image by hand, one image per color, because they hate their wrists and love carpal tunnel syndrome. Even if that’s what they did, it STILL wouldn’t take that long. I’ve done basic shit like that before and it’s murder on your joints but beyond the tedium, once you hit a rhythm you can probably do two per minute if your computer can keep up. I’d say I doubt someone would waste their manpower that severely, but given what I’ve seen from FR so far…
My point is this – there is no justification for the price of this gene, not even feeding the artists. FR turns a pretty damn solid profit even after cost of operations (which includes staff payroll!) Nothing huge, nothing like a Blizzard MMO or something, but it is a very healthy return. They’re far from struggling, given that they can afford to pay their staff at all. You’ll find that’s a rarity in the petsite world lmao.
You wanna see a site that’s struggling to pay people and stay afloat, there’s plenty of them out there. Big one with “v” in the name is in danger due to being funded by a single user, for example. Big one starting with “a”, meanwhile, made 30k on Black Friday alone, and FR’s doing better than they are consistently from month to month. They didn’t need to do this. This is what a dying site does. This is what a site in the throes of death does to survive. And FR isn’t just surviving, it’s thriving.
There is no excuse for the price of this gene no matter how you try to defend it. Yeah, it’s got it’s use and it’s pretty. But it’s still 12 USD, even more for a lot of people outside that country, for something ANYONE could do, for less, as a skin, even if they had never used Photoshop before.
Support artists, yeah, but don’t defend shitty business practices just because you like a site. It’s hurting you, too.
i have a new tablet! here are my progens
this also means i will start the remaining commissions soon don’t worry
(nova tablca je kar velika in z njo risat je kar naporno… mal me roka boli, ampak že bo, upam)
it’s cheaper to just make an accent of a 10% overlay of a dragon’s tert color AND you can still have an actual tertiary marking

All about Naomi: For those who have no idea what’s going on.
Naomi is a user who has taken over the Couriers of Flight Rising in what appears to be a glitch.
But that’s not all she is. If you search for her in user search (she’s in Shadow flight to narrow it down) you’ll see she has over 15 million dragons, and the number is growing fast.
Also, search for exalted dragons in dragon search, every single one of them will say they are a part of Naomi’s clan.
Naomi is user 0. Her account doesn’t exist and neither does her profile dragon. Clicking on it will bring you to a 404 page. But Naomi isn’t just an account created to hold exalted dragons. She can’t be. Because of Willow.
Willow is one of Naomi’s children with Coal, another exalted dragon. You can view Coal’s exalted page, but clicking on Naomi will bring you back to the 404. Willow is the only child of Naomi that is not exalted. Coal is dragon 25343. If you bring that back a number, to dragon 25342, you get a 404. Run that number in the scrying workshop and you’ll see Naomi.
Willow is our proof that Naomi isn’t a storage account. She was someone, and Naomi and Coal are probably her progens. She bred her dragons and sold one of them. She even changed flights at some point, seeing as Naomi and Coal are Arcane and she is currently listed as Shadow. Which means 1 of 3 things. 1: Staff stole an inactive account and used it to store all exalted dragons and it’s somehow become unhidden, simultaneously taking over the account that handle the couriers. 2. This is the work of a hacker. 3. Someone is very upset at being exalted.
Polished my Gala honorable mention from last year (left) and entered again this year (right). Hopefully it doesn’t look too overblown. :< Ice is weird.
The flight rising tag is so full of spam I can’t even see any posts actually pertaining to the site, it’s all clickbait and nasty diseases ew. Tumblr can’t get it’s shit together and put up a reasonable defense against hackers and bots, as usual
for as long as the twin sentinels have kept watch over the canton, they have in turn been watched over and maintained by the Keeper. an enigmatic figure, few have spoken to or even seen them directly, only caught glimpses of a flutter of wings in the haze of the wayshrines. some claim they are not a dragon at all, but a spirit of the forest; others suggest that the Keeper is not an entity, but a title, passed in secret from one dragon to another throughout generations. whatever the case, their presence is welcome in the canton - for it is said the marble sentinel, that gnarled behemoth of stone and moss, will obey no being but them.
officially this is a wip but idk if i’ll ever finish it, whoops. anyway, Keeper is one of my new favourite babies, so i’m excited to start posting their lore!!
