“My compass is doing weird things again.”
This was your daily life now. Ever since the announcement about soulmates was made, everyone started frantically searching for theirs. For some, it was easy, because their soulmate was close by or never really moved.
For you, however, things were a little more complicated.
“Let me have a look at it.” Your older sister said. She was lucky, her soulmate was the cute boy that lived next door. It hadn’t taken her long to find him.
“Very weird indeed.” She hummed in recognition. You looked down at your wrist, where the compass was located. The pointer was missing in your compass, which usually signalled your soulmate was about to die. “What in the hell could they be doing?” You asked yourself out loud.
Ignoring the alarming situation of your compass, you retreated to your room to go and listen to some music. This always calmed you down, since you aspired to be a songwriter in the future. It reminded you of familiar feelings, almost like a second home.
“Y/n! You have to check this out!” Your sister yelled from downstairs. “What is it this time, another one of those K-pop bands?” You grumbled, not really looking forward for another hour of screams coming from your sister.

“I can’t believe you are forcing me to marry someone.” You said to your parents, a look of disappointment in your eyes. “Y/n, it’s the best for you, we promise.” You mother tried to convince you. “Besides, I promise he’s not that bad.” Your dad continued. You just rolled your eyes and stormed upstairs, not believing your own ears.
“An arranged marriage? What are they even thinking?” You said on the phone to your best friend, MJ. His real name was Myungjun, but you preferred this little nickname for the guy. “Well, not to be rude or anything, but you are getting older and…you have never dated, did you?” He said, teasing you a bit. “Hey! But, you are right…” You confessed, not too happy about it.
“Y/n, don’t be so sad! It might even be fun, cheer up a bit! I’ll visit you tomorrow, how does that sound?” He continued his little speech. “Aren’t you really busy with your comeback and all?” You questioned, not wanting him to waste his time on you. “No worries, I’ll be fine! Well, I have to go now, I’ll see you tomorrow!” And he hung up.
“Maybe it won’t be that bad.” You tried to convince yourself, before falling asleep.

Synopsis: What would an encounter at the local bar have in store for you for the following days?
You wouldn't describe yourself as much of a drinker. You didn't drink more than the next person, having drinks here and there when you went out with friends or after a rough day at work, but that was about the end of it. You were far from being an alcoholic, or so you thought.
Yet here you were, entering a bar at 9 o'clock on a Monday night. The week had barely started and here you were drinking yourself to oblivion.
The bartender noticed your gloomy mood and smiled in compassion. "Bad day?", he asked. "Don't get me started.", you half-smiled. Your boss had been even more demanding than usual, ordering you around and scolding you for petty details. You had struggled to keep your calm all day, but you managed to get through his torture.
God, you hated having a boss. They always think they're all that only because they have a higher ranking in the industry than their employees. They don't even deserve their position, most of the time they inherit the family company. You snapped yourself out of your daydream before you got even more frustrated.
After a few rounds, you were starting to feel the effects of the alcohol. "Bartendeeeer", you slurred, "what's your name?"
"Taeyong, and I think you've had enough to drink sweetie."
You rolled your eyes at his motherly words. "Well, Taeyong, I'm far from being done so keep 'em coming." It was his turn to roll his eyes, but he complied regardless. It was around 2 am when you finally left, waiting by the street to hail yourself a cab. You were too far gone to even notice one stopping right in front of you. The chauffeur honked and you hopped in. You had work tomorrow and you knew for a fact you were going to regret this night out in the morning.
The rest of the week hadn't been too bad, your boss was being his usual rude self. It was finally Saturday night and you felt like going out, for once. You called some of your friends and they gave you the address of the bar they wanted to go to. To your surprise, it was the one you had been to that previous Monday night.
You wore a simple beige dress and put on some minimal makeup. Your friends were already waiting when you arrived, greeting you with a hug. You glanced over at the bar and noticed a guy you hadn't a few nights ago. With a face like that, you were sure you'd remember having seen him. He was handsome, you could admit that. You were staring and he noticed. He blushed and looked away. Cute, you thought.
Maybe this night would get a little more interesting after all.
Walking towards the bar and taking a seat, you ordered a martini and signed your friends to follow you. “Y/n, already on the strong stuff? Oh well, whatever. The same for me, bartender!” Your friend Mina screamed while she was literally one seat away from you.
Weird, you were pretty sure she couldn’t handle her alcohol very well.
And after only thirty minutes and two drinks, it became clear you were right about that. Mina had fallen off of her chair three times, and you couldn’t even remember the amount of times she had hiccupped.
“Is… is she alright?” The handsome bartender from earlier asked you shyly, and you nodded in reply. “She just can’t handle her alcohol very well. Do you think you can get her a glass of water?” You asked him, and he was already on his way to the sink to grab what you had asked.
In no time, a glass of water stood on the counter, and you tried to give it to your friend. Tried, because the second you let go, it landed on the floor with a loud crash.
The bartender, who was now serving some other people, turned around instinctively hearing the sound. “I shouldn’t have put it in a glass, right?” He chuckled slightly and started to grab a broom to clean up the mess your friend had just made.
“It’s alright, let me do it.” You said, taking the broom from his hands, touching the tips of his fingers a bit. With a creeping blush evident on his face, he just nodded and got back to other people who tried to order drinks.
“Y/n, he totally has the hots for you!” Mina screamed, much to your own displeasure. “Shhh, he’ll hear you!” You shushed her and continued cleaning up the mess.
Surely, when it was all cleaned up, you all agreed it was time to go home, especially for Mina. “We’ll grab a taxi for her, can you pay? We’ll pay you back, promise!” One of your friends screamed while practically dragging Mina to the door.
Grabbing your wallet, you placed the correct amount of money on the bar, with an extra not included.
When you were already gone, the cute bartender put the money away, and curiously turned around the light blue card you had left behind.
“I wanted to give you this.” It read, followed by your number.
The handsome bartender had been debating whether or not to text you for the remainder of the evening but decided against it. After all, you hadn't even exchanged names yet. He paced around his apartment for a while, pondering the best way to approach you. He wasn't very good at this, to begin with, he thought.
He went to bed that night with an idea in mind.
You woke up the next morning with a light headache, nothing too intense (thank god). You had a bad history with hangovers and you sure didn't want to add another one to the list.
Making your way to the kitchen, you quickly got dressed and made yourself some coffee. Just as you were about to take your first sip, your cellphone vibrated making you groan in return.
Unknown number: Hey, it's the bartender from last night. I didn't catch your name, mind telling me over coffee?
You smiled to yourself. You didn't think he'd be so smooth, he had come off as quite shy just the previous evening.
You: I'm free today if you want.
He texted back almost immediately which made you giggle. Someone's eager, you thought.
Unknown number: How about at 3 o'clock? I'll text you the location.
You: It's a date.
You bit your lip in an attempt to stop yourself from smiling, in vain. You hadn't been this excited for a coffee date in a long time. Something about him just captivated you. It was 3 o'clock before you knew it. After having taken the time to choose the right outfit (not too sexy, not too casual) and the right makeup, you were on your way.
He was already seated when you got there, waving you over casually. You stuck out your hand invitingly and you saw a flicker of hesitation pass through his features before he shook your hand. "I'm (Y/N)."
"Jungwoo." You placed your order and Jungwoo -being the gentleman that he is- took care of your bill. You had always appreciated small gestures. He was getting on your good side already.
The more you talked with him, the more at ease the two of you seemed to be. He was easy to talk to and you liked that. He was sweet, caring and he was passionate about his job. It was like you had known each other forever, however cliché that may sound.
Before you knew it, you had been chatting for hours on end and it was time for you to part ways. You pouted slightly and made your way to the exit. Jungwoo looked at the ground nervously. "Does this mean I can take you out on another date?" Your heart warmed at his cute self.
"It sure does." You leaned in and pecked his cheek briefly. His cheeks were overcome with a pink color and you waved him goodbye. You definitely hoped to see him again.
And it seemed that your little wish came true. Only a day later, you were shopping with some friends at the local mall and just as you were to turn around a corner, you bumped into someone. Bowing and apologizing, you heard some giggling.
Looking up, the person in front of you was none other than Jungwoo. “Hey, long time no see!” He winked, and you blushed a bit. “Yesterday is not that long ago, you know. Did you miss me already?” You joked back, and now it was his turn to blush.
Suddenly, applause could be heard and you looked past Jungwoo to see he was here with a few of his friends too.
Glancing back, an idea came to you. “We were just to go laser gaming, but our group is a bit on the small side. What do you think, yours against mine?” You challenged, and you saw a confident glint take over his eyes.
“Just know I never say no to challenges. It’s a deal.” Jungwoo answered before thinking about it. “So… we just have to agree now?” A tall friend of his responded, which caused you all to laugh. In the end, everyone agreed so you all made your way to the laser hall.
“Ready… start!” The signal could be heard through the dark room, and soon enough all types of green and red dots could be seen walking around you. Your team, the green one, was currently leading with two points, but that wasn’t enough to ensure victory.
Just when you were about to crawl out of your hiding spot, you were stopped. Turning around, you saw Jungwoo stand in the door opening, leaving no chance for you to get out without being shot.
“Just shoot me already.” You sighed, putting your hands up in the air for defeat. “I didn’t think you would admit defeat that easily, Y/n.” Jungwoo smirked, and started walking towards you, until your back hit a wall.
He was so close, you could feel his breath on your neck. “Just as your lips were about to touch, a scream could be heard, probably from Mark, a friend of Jungwoo. “Yo lovebirds! Just kill one another already, this is taking too long!”
Apparently, you two were the only ones left and all of your friends were waiting for you.
Taking Jungwoo by surprise, you shot him while his attention was still on your lips. “I won!” You giggled, and proceeded to walk back to the entrance. Just as you were about to grab the handle, you were pulled back by a hand.
“Did you think you can kill me that easily?” He smirked while leaning in again. Every time he made a move, you were shocked by his dominant nature. He really did strike you as a shy guy.
This time, you closed the gap, and pecked his lips shortly before retreating again. “Beat me if you want another kiss.”
Despite having tried his best to uphold his end of the bargain, your team had won resulting in a sulky Jungwoo. He walked with his head hanging low, a pout evident on his lips. You smiled at the adorable boy before taking his hand in yours. Noticing this made Jungwoo look up and his infamous smile appear.
The rest of the afternoon had gone smoothly, your group of friends getting along with Jungwoo's. Before you knew it, you had to leave and your friends almost had to drag you out of the mall. You had stayed back to talk more with Jungwoo, hoping that maybe he'd actually kiss you this time.
Much to your dismay, he had been interrupted by your friends coming to get you. You had merely waved at him, cursing your friends inwardly for having ruined the moment. Jungwoo was disappointed with himself too as he had really wanted to kiss you for real. He promised himself he would do it right next time. Whenever that next time would be.
A few days later, you were on your way to the library when you ran into Jungwoo. "Hey stranger", he smiled. "Hey Jungwoo, where are you off to?"
"I was just going to meet up with the guys, but I can walk with you a bit more." You smiled at how much of a gentleman he was. Sometimes he could act so pure and innocent towards you, yet there were times when he was protective and tough. You smiled thinking that maybe, just maybe, he acted tough to try and impress you. You weren't counting on it, firmly believing that he was too good for an average girl like you. You wouldn't let that stop you from enjoying his company though.
As you were nearing the library, you were the one to pout. You halted in front of the building, signalling him that you had arrived. "Well, this is me." He looked at the building, then back at you and for a split second, you were sure you saw a hint of nervousness in his eyes. You shrugged it off, waiting for him to say something.
Anything. You didn't want to be left hanging again.
He took a step towards you, his hands in his pockets. He towered over you, brushing a loose strand of hair back into place. Your breath hitched in your throat, knowing where this was going. He licked his lips as his gaze shifted to rest on your lips. His hands cupped your face and he brought your lips to his in a gentle kiss. You smiled into the kiss, your hands resting on his chest. He was the one to break the kiss, forehead resting against yours. He smiled and you swore it lit up everything around you two.
"Did you think I was going to let you beat me to it, (Y/N)?" You laughed at this, pecking his lips one more time before heading inside. He watched you walk away and felt his heart flutter just a little.
Just then, a loud ringing noise could be heard. Fishing his cellphone out of his pocket quickly, Jungwoo clicked on the answer button and held the phone next to his ear. Bad idea.
“Jungwoo, where the hell are you? You promised to take over my shift, didn’t you?” A loud Doyoung could be heard on the other side of the line. He should have checked who it was first, then he wouldn’t be deaf, Jungwoo thought.
“Yeah calm down, I’m almost there. I was taking… a little detour. Sorry for the delay!” Jungwoo said as enthusiastically as possible and hung up before more curses could be swung at his head. He knew he was in for a scolding, but looking at your figure retreating in the library, it was worth it.
To be honest, you didn’t see Jungwoo for a while after that. You had thought about messaging or calling him, but you didn’t want to come over as possessive, needy or even clingy. And even thought you missed the cute boy like crazy, the worst thing was that you couldn’t forget that one kiss.
Throwing your thoughts out of the window, you decided to do something about your sulky state. Only a few minutes later, you were on your bike, going to the regular bar in town, where you two had met, hoping he would be on shift.
Just as you had arrived at the building, a thought held you back, resulting in you freezing before touching the door handle. “I’m not even his girlfriend… what if he really does find it weird if I show up here randomly?” You mumbled, not noticing someone was standing behind you and listening to your little conversation.
“I’m sure he wouldn’t mind at all, Y/n.” A chuckle could be heard, and you turned around at the speed of light to see who had startled you.
“Mark?” You questioned, seeing the smaller boy stand in front of you. “That would be me! Oh and don’t worry, Jungwoo is just as sulky as you. He is at the dorms though.” The boy continued calmly, and brushed past you to enter the bar.
Getting back on your bike, you rode for another good half hour before you were finally standing in front of the doors. Your hand automatically reached up and pressed the doorbell. Not even ten seconds later, a confused Jungwoo opened it, shock evident in his deep brown eyes.
Before you could even utter a word, he pulled you in by your shoulders and guided you to the direction of the couch, sitting down with you in his lap. “Is it okay if I-” He started, but before he could say what he wanted, you knew what he meant.
“Is there nobody else in the dorm?” At the moment that Jungwoo shook his head as a form of saying no, you tilted his chin up and planted a kiss on them. Just as you wanted to retreat again, Jungwoo grabbed a fistful of your hair and kept making the kiss deeper and deeper.
You didn’t fully know how long you two were in that position, but after a while, the turn of a key could be heard. Practically jumping off of his lap, you jumped up and jogged to the kitchen, pretending to busy yourself with grabbing a glass of water.
“We’re home!” A voice you recognized as Taeyong’s sounded through the dorm, and was followed by silence. Walking out of the kitchen to see what was going on, you stopped in your tracks when you noticed every single gaze was on you.
“I figured Y/n must be here.” Doyoung chuckled, and you shot him a confused glance. “Don’t say you thought we wouldn’t notice Jungwoo’s dishevelled hair?”
Too embarrassed to stay after being caught, you came up with some lame excuse to explain why you had to leave as quickly as possible. Jungwoo didn't blame you as a thin layer of pink now ghosted over his own cheeks. He kissed your forehead before bidding you goodbye, leaving you all giddy.
It had been a week since the incident and you had been texting Jungwoo day in and day out. You hadn't managed to find time for each other this week, but you both were okay with that. It didn't keep you from missing him, quite the opposite. Especially since you weren't sure if the two of you were "a thing". You had made out at his place that one time, but you hadn't seen him ever since, so were you meant to take that as a sign?
You were starting to overthink when you heard knocking on your apartment door. "(Y/N)!" "Mina?", you frowned, "what are you doing here?" "Will you please go out with me, I don't want to go alone and everyone else is busy." "Mina, it's 3 in the afternoon. Who day drinks except alcoholics?" She sneered in response. "Always such a party pooper. Come on, I'm asking you nicely. Pleaaase."
"Fine. But only because I'm scared for your safety." The biggest grin made its way to her face and she leaped at you. "Okay, yeah, let go, please. I'm gonna get changed then."
She sat down on the couch and you proceeded to your room. You came out with a silk top and your comfiest shorts before Mina dragged you out like an excited puppy.
To your surprise, she decided to go to the bar where Jungwoo was working. You wondered if he had a shift today, but your question was answered the second you walked in and spotted him at the counter. You watched him in awe as he prepared the drinks, his hands skilfully pouring the required amount of each liquor. He narrowed his eyes in concentration and you couldn't help but admire how handsome he looked doing what he loved. It took
Mina waving her hand in front of your face to snap you out of your daze. She linked her arm in yours and walked over to where Jungwoo was bartending. He hadn't seen you yet and you weren't sure if he would approve of you day drinking like this. It's not like we're a couple, so screw it, you thought.
Another bartender, who you recognized as Doyoung, made his way over to you seeing as Jungwoo was already occupied. You sighed in relief and Mina ordered shots which made you cringe in expectation. You were more a cocktail kind of girl, shots were too strong for your taste.
You grabbed the small glass and brought it your lips, sighing before downing it reluctantly. You coughed, wiping your mouth in disgust. You shook your head and felt eyes on you. You looked up and were met with Jungwoo's curious gaze. He made his way over in no time.
"(Y/N)? I didn't think you'd be here, especially not at this hour." You chuckled. "Yeah, well, Mina here forced me to come. I didn't know you were working today, for the record." "Do you think we could talk? My shift ends in 30." You nodded slightly, scared that maybe he wanted to tell you whatever you had was over. "Great, see you then." With that, he went back to his side of the counter.
The fear made you down 4 more shots. Your legs felt kind of wobbly now and you couldn't for the life of you recall where Mina had gone. You rested your head on the counter, tired of everything spinning around you. Your eyelids suddenly felt heavy and you closed your eyes.
"(Y/N), come dance with meee, I'm bored." You opened an eye tentatively, recognizing the brunette before you as Mina. You huffed in annoyance before standing up. Unfortunately, the alcohol had made its way to your brain and it seemed like you had forgotten how to walk. Strong arms caught you just before you fell which made you look up at their owner.
You recognized Jungwoo and a blush crept across your face. "It's okay, I got you. Come on." You stood up with difficulty, but you managed to find somewhat of a balance. You walked towards the exit -with Jungwoo's help.
He hailed you a cab and got in next to you. "Why did you drink so much, (Y/N)?" He asked, concern evident in his eyes. You hung your head low, embarrassed that he had to see you like this. "I just- I was confused. I really like you and I was scared you wanted to tell me it was over-"
"What? Oh god, (Y/N), that's not what I wanted to talk to you about." You looked up, still pouting. "Then what?" His hand cupped your face, his thumb gently caressing your cheek. "I wanted to ask you to be my girlfriend, stupid."
Your eyes lit up at this, your mood lightening. "Is that a yes?", he asked hesitantly. "Of course it is, Jungwoo! I'm so happy." You hugged him as best as you could given the fact that you were in the back of a cab. He laughed at how adorable you were, even when drunk. He broke away from the hug and looked into your eyes lovingly. "Can I kiss you now?" You nodded shyly and in an instant, his lips were on yours. The kiss was slow and sweet, just like your relationship would reveal itself to be.
And at that moment, you swore you were the happiest girl in the world.

Synopsis: Suddenly, your best friend abandons you. What could you have done wrong?
“Y/n, hurry up!” Lucas called out to you, a big grin on his face while he was running a few meters ahead of you. This was no rare occurrence, him racing you home.
“Look out dumbass, don’t hit that lamppost!” You yelled, but not on time. Just as you let those words slip out of your mouth, a loud bang could be heard. Running to his side, you took his face in your hands and tried to study the wound that had started forming on his head.
“See, this is why you don’t look back while running…” You mumbled, still examining the red spot that was still growing bigger and bigger. Luckily for him, you were learning to become a nurse and knew which steps to take from here on. “First, let’s get you home. Do you have any bandage or something similar lying around?” You questioned, but when you didn’t receive any answer, you grew worried.
Glancing over to his face, you saw his eyes were closed. “God, running yourself unconscious. I didn’t know that was even possible.” You giggled, and proceeded to drag the lanky boy to his house, which to your relief was very close by.
A day later, a regular Tuesday, you were surprised not to find Lucas waiting for you at the school gates. “What could have happened? Did he forgot? Surely he didn’t… get amnesia?” You mumbled quietly, hoping it was not too bad. Shrugging, you started walking home in silence, a concept that wasn’t familiar to you.
You always loved to be loud and clumsy with Lucas on your way back. You loved the way he smiled at you when he was winning for the third time in a row. You loved the way he always let you win in the end.
You loved Lucas.
It was no exaggeration to say you were devastated when you started to notice Lucas was avoiding you. Every time he showed up in the hallways, in the mall, hell, even in the same street as your house, you saw his eyes grow wide and get this glint of… anger? You couldn’t place it exactly, but you figured he must be mad at you, because every time he turned around and started running in the opposite direction.
And it’s not that you didn’t wonder about what you did wrong; you spent whole evenings lying in bed, trying to focus on your now slightly faded memories with him, trying to figure out where you had gone wrong.
The problem was, you didn’t know.
Everything seemed fine the last time you two walked together. Or rather, when you walked and he ran and got himself a small concussion. Grinning about the memory, you decided to call the hospital his mom had brought him to after you had dragged him home that same day.
“Hello, Seoul national hospital speaking. Is it an emergency?” A nurse answered the phone, and you said hurriedly it had no haste. Sighing, the nurse continued. “I’m glad, it’s really busy here. What can I help you with?”
“I’m calling to ask what happened to a patient who was hospitalized past Monday.” You explained, and there was a small silence until you remembered that you had to actually say his name in order for the nurse to look it up. “Oh, sorry for that, his name is Lucas- no, he was probably took in under the name of Wong Yukhei.”
It took a while before the nurse responded, but you did get an answer. “He went home an hour after arriving here. There was nothing wrong, only a small wound forming on his head.” That fact did set you at ease, at least he didn’t have memory loss. “All right, thank you very much.” You said and hung up the phone.
Deciding to just confront Lucas tomorrow, you went to sleep with a bundle of nerves.
“Lucas!” You called out, and you saw him freeze at the end of the street. He hadn’t changed his route to school, luckily, so all you had to do was wait for him. When he started to turn around, ready to walk away, you sprinted towards him and grabbed his collar.
“Don’t try to ignore me.” You mustered, and he looked back at you, sadness in his eyes. What came out of his mouth after that, shocked you so much you let go of his collar.
“What? So you can just embarrass me more?”
Letting him out of your grasp and seeing him run away from you, you bursted into tears. Embarrass him? Was that all you had been doing when your friendship lasted?
Feeling too sick mentally to even make it to school, you turned around and went home. Arriving inside, you went straight to your bed and let the tears roll once again.
Soon after, you got a message from one of your classmates. “Do you know what is going on with Lucas? He seems so… upset.” Yeah, you wanted to answer. You wanted to let everybody know this was apparently your fault, and just let Lucas be happy again. If you disappearing from his sight was what was needed for that to happen, good. You were capable of that.
It took a lot of effort from your side, but you held up. Every day, taking a different route to school, being way too early in class just to avoid him in the hallways, staying late to not run into him after school. And often, you wondered if he was happy. Was this all it took for him to smile again? Just your disappearance?
And then, one day, you figured out why he was avoiding you. Finally.
It was Friday after school and you just wanted to relax, so you opened your laptop to put on some music. That’s when you received a message on your phone.
It simply said ‘Are you happy with who you are, you monster? Just because you make another account, we will still know it’s you. Coward.’
Weirded out, you looked up the account they were talking about and when you saw the posts that were there, you dropped your phone to the ground.
No matter how far you scrolled, all the messages were about disgust or hate. And what’s the worst… they were all about Lucas. Scrolling back up to the top of the page, you rubbed your eyes a few times. Y/n. It surely stated your name right there.
Looking at the variety of posts that were present, you also saw a posts from the ‘Misfit Monday’, as the fake ‘you’ apparently had written down. “Lucas is such a dumb kid. Thinking I like him, and then getting himself hospitalized. How many mistakes can you make on one day?”
Tears started welling in your eyes once again, and you hesitated to look at the wave of replies this had gotten. Deciding to look anyways, you clicked and immediately regretted it. “I agree. Who can love a bitch like you?” Someone wrote. Another one shocked you even more. “I wish he had amnesia. At least he would forget what you did to him.”
You had to apologize. Even if it wasn’t you who was behind these messages, you didn’t want Lucas to suffer. How was it that you didn’t find out about this earlier?
Grabbing your coat and putting on your shoes, you walked to his house which was just a five-minute walk away. To top this bad day off, it started raining like crazy just as you left home, and you had forgotten both your keys and your umbrella. “Let’s wish Lucas will listen to me.”
Your little prayer was to no avail, because Lucas refused to open the door. No wonder, you wouldn’t either to someone who would spread hate around about you. The only thing bothering you was that you weren’t that person. Lucas just didn’t know.
You weren’t sure, but you must have been standing here for about three whole hours now, because the sun was already disappearing under the horizon. “Just like how I disappeared from your life…” You mumbled, and slid down to the ground, face cupped in your hands.
For the umpteenth time that day, tears started rolling off of your face. What had you done to deserve this? The only thing you could do know was think about how you would make up to Lucas. Even if he did let you enter his house, what would you have said? I’m sorry? I’m not behind this? “Like he’s going to believe me.” You muttered bitterly, and wiped another tear away.
“I know, for a fact, that I’m going to believe the girl that’s my best friend more than some rumours on social media.” You suddenly heard behind you, and when you turned around, Lucas was standing there, holding an umbrella over the both of you. No wonder you weren’t feeling the rain any longer.
“F-for how long have you been standing there?” You stuttered, further wiping the tears away from your face. “Long enough to hear everything, I guess?” He chuckled and turned back to serious in an instant. “I’m sorry for doubting you. I.. I should have listened to my best friend.”
Smiling, you were glad everything was cleared up now. You looked back up to his face, only to find it an inch in front of yours. Seconds later, his soft lips landed on yours. After a while, he was the first one to retreat again.
“I missed you like crazy, Y/n. I guess I can’t go without you for this long.” He muttered, a bright pink blush evident on his cheeks.
Punching him in the shoulder, you started rambling all your thoughts to him. “You know how worried I’ve been? I thought you hated me, and I had absolutely no idea why! And what’s more, I still haven’t heard any-” Another peck was placed on your lips, and you turned silent immediately.
“I didn’t think it would work that well!” Lucas laughed, and it was the first time in a while you had seen him smiling like that. “What are you grinning about? Come on, let’s get you into new clothes, otherwise you’ll get a cold.” He held open his door.
Pecking him on his lips, you walked inside. “I think you will be the one with a cold if you keep kissing me this much.” You giggled.

Synopsis: Your work gets more interesting when a guy with a silly face comes to work across from you. What will happen to you two?
It has been awhile since you had switched jobs, but you weren’t discontent with your decision. At first, working at a local cafe didn’t seem so exciting, but that was only until the pet shop on the other side of the street opened up.
It had only been in business for about two weeks, but it was already doing amazingly well, maybe even better than the store you were working at. Your job was being a bit boring at the beginning, you had to admit that.
You had two colleagues, none of which showed up in time when they had to take over your shift though. Standing alone in a deserted store isn’t as fun as it sounds. And when there were customers around, they were usually rude and impatient, causing you to get a bit more miserable every time.
But that all changed since a man, whose name you didn’t even know, opened up that pet store. Every morning when you walked to work, you could glance at those silly puppies, and your whole day got a little bit better.
Most of the time, nobody was in the store that early except for the small animals. Which kind of made sense, since who wants to go and adopt a pet when it’s only six in the morning?
Luckily, your boss was in a generous mood, and let you switch to the afternoon shift. The advantage of this wasn’t only that there were more customers to serve so you wouldn’t be bored out of your mind, but there was one more.
The cute guy in the pet store was also working.
At first, you two only sneaked glances from each other, trying to see what the other was doing or what they were thinking. But, since some time has passed since then, you two now exchange more silly glances.
Mark, your new co-worker since last week, always seemed to notice this and giggle. “Y/n, why don’t you just cross the street and ask him on a date? He’s literally right there.” But every time he made that comment, you blushed and started going back to work.
This exchange of silly faces, ranging from creepy to utterly disgusting, continued for a while before you two properly met.
“One americano please.” You heard from the counter, and you walked towards the customer until you saw who it was, stopping dead in your tracks. “It’s you!” You exclaimed happily with a bright smile evident on your face. “You can call me Lucas.” The man, or Lucas as you now knew, giggled and adjusted his shirt. “So… are you going to make my order or not?” He asked after a while of just staring.
“Oh, right! What was it again?” You stumbled over your words and started walking around frantically. “One americano, and your name please.”
“That’s Y/n.” Mark said from behind the register, reading the room and seeing you were too out of it to actually answer Lucas.
Just when the two men were striking up a bit of a conversation, you came with his coffee. “Here you go, Lucas!” You said with a big grin and handed him his cup. He made a weird face again and thanked you for the coffee.
“Mark, I guess I’ll see you around? And goodbye, Y/n!” Lucas waved, almost spilt his coffee and hurriedly made his way out of the store, walking back to his own.
“I’ll see you around? Did you finally make some friends apart from me in this hellhole?” You teased the younger one and started reading a book since there were no customers in the store.
“Yeah, is it that weird? I can make friends too, you know!” He acted offendedly and ruffled your hair. He might be younger than you, but he sure as hell was a lot taller.
“What are you reading anyway?” He asked curiously, and you raised your book high enough in the air so that he would be able to read it. “Latte art, and how to make it?” He questioned, and a smile appeared on his face. “Oh, I know what you’re up to…” He muttered, and before you could ask him what he had meant, he had disappeared into the break room.
It was now two weeks after Lucas had visited the café, and you were also not able to spot him in his own shop. You began to get worried a little bit, had something perhaps happened to him?
Meanwhile, your latte are did get exponentially better with time. You could draw more than clouds and suns, like little hearts for example. Even mark, who didn’t even care that much about your latte art and just wanted to serve coffee, could appreciate your drawings.
And then, when you had least expected it, the little doorbell rang and in came Lucas. “Hey Y/n, long time no see.” He mumbled, and walked to a table in the café and sat down.
Seeing there was something wrong, you walked to his table and took a seat opposite of him. “Hey, what’s wrong? I doubt you only came to get coffee with that frown on your face.” You asked him quietly, almost treating him like he was fragile glass, about to burst.
“Mark already knows, maybe you should ask him…” He dawdled off and started mindlessly playing with the plant on the table.
Before you followed his instructions, you went back to the counter and started to make him an Americano, just like he always ordered when he was here. Only now, you added a big heart on top of it, learned out of your book. Setting down his coffee, you immediately left in a beeline for the break room.
Glancing around the café, you noticed all the other customers had already left, leaving you and the two men. “I’ll be right back!” You tried to cheer him up a bit and disappeared.
Knocking on the deep brown wooden door, a soft hum could be heard, and you opened the door only to be met with confetti all around you.
“Happy birthday!” A chorus of Mark and Lucas sounded through the store, although a bit false, but who could blame them?
“Guys… thank you so much!” You almost started crying from the nice gesture. You didn’t even know they both remembered your birthday, since you only told Mark once, and you didn’t even tell Lucas.
“Have you guys been planning this?” You eyed them both suspiciously, and soon enough you three burst out into laughter.
Suddenly, the little bell from the entrance tingled and that was a signal a new customer was in the store. “I’ll take the order, you enjoy your little party!” Mark exclaimed and walked out of the break room.
“Happy birthday again, Y/n. Here is your present.” Lucas stuttered while handing you a small card. Turning it around, you saw a number written on it. “Lucas, what…” You could even finish your sentence because the tall man in front of you quickly pecked you on the lips and fled the building.
Touching your lips, you turned a shade of pink and a small grin started spreading on your face.
Putting the number in your phone, you exited the small building of the store and walked to the other side of the street, into the pet store.
At hearing the little bell similar to the one your café had, Lucas looked up from behind one of the kennels. “Hello- Oh.” He started, but his expression fell the moment he saw you.
“Hey, do you really look at someone you like with that sad face?” You teased him by squeezing his cheeks. “Just to be clear, I totally didn’t mind what happened just now.” You smiled seeing his silly grin returned to his face.
“Then I’ll take it you won’t mind if I do it again?” He asked, and before you could react to his question, he kissed you, deeper this time.
Neither one of you pulled back for a long time, but that’s just what you wanted. Who would have thought, that you would fall for his silly face.

Synopsis: Suddenly, a jerk-faced customer shows up at your workplace. What will be the consequences of that?
“Welcome! What will it be for you?” You uttered with your fake smile plastered on your face, like every Monday morning when you had to work at the café down the street. Even if you didn’t hate the job, because you got to pet the dog of the owner and make free drinks for yourself, you still didn’t exactly love getting up at 5 am on a Monday.
“Just give me something popular, and quick please, I’m late to a meeting.” The person in front of you said. You looked up from the counter you were wiping previously and the face of a handsome man slid into view.
“The latte macchiato and the Americano are both pretty well-received, what will it be?” You asked him, still trying to be nice to him, although that mindset was gone quite soon.
“Just… something, alright? I don’t have all day!” The customer answered with a higher volume. Well damn, he didn’t need to yell.
“So… a latte macchiato it is then. On which name?” You followed protocol, the man in front of you getting more and more on your nerves. “Jungkook.” Was his curt answer to your question.
Preparing his drink, you were about to write his name down on his cup when an idea shot through your head. Perfect. You grabbed a large cup and wrote down ‘Jungcook’. There, that would be good enough for his rude behaviour.
“Here is your drink! That will be four dollars!” You said while handing him his drink. The scowl on his face didn’t go unrecognized by you, and you knew you had upset him, which was the plan. He shouldn’t be so rude in the future.
But who would know this would work the exact opposite way, resulting in an even ruder Jungkook?
The rest of the week had gone smoothly with no sign of the bitter customer, "Jungkook". He had really irritated you that day and it was hard to concentrate as you were fuming on the inside. You couldn't believe how rude some people could be, especially the rich ones which he had seemed to be.
In the heat of the moment, you had ranted to your co-workers about him. You actually found out how he was a regular customer, always in a hurry. No one knew what he did for a living, but everyone knew he was rich.
"Great, another snob.", you thought. You hoped never to have to serve him again but to no avail.
The next Monday you were up early again, to your dismay and were preparing for a long day at work. You heard the bell ring, signalling the entrance of a customer. You took your place at the cash register and were about to speak when you froze. It was him. You didn't regret misspelling his name that day, but you had to admit you were somewhat afraid of him.
His gaze caught yours and you could just about feel his eyes burning into yours in annoyance. He radiated power and it intimidated you. You weren't about to show him that, though.
"Welcome back sir, same as last time?" You asked hypocritically. His eyes narrowed at you before he rolled his eyes and spoke up. "Listen up, little girl. You should know better than to mess with me. I'm sure you've heard all about who I am and I'd suggest you keep that big mouth of yours shut before I get you fired. Got it?"
Your eyes widened in shock. You assumed he'd be full of himself, but not as much as this. You tried to contain your anger. "Look, sir. I am aware of how much of a big shot you are, so no need to come in here like you're the centre of the universe. I don't care what you do or who you are, but if you're gonna come in here and be rude to the staff and the customers, I'd suggest you get your coffee somewhere else. Oh and get me fired if you want, it would just prove how full of yourself you actually are." You ended with a smirk.
Jungkook looked taken aback for a second, but his expression changed to a different one. He almost looked amused at your reaction.
"Iced Americano." You stood there with your mouth open, unsure of how to react to his nonchalance. Your co-worker snapped you out of your daze by nudging you. You decided to piss him off even more and wrote down "Rich asshole" on his drink. He rolled his eyes in annoyance but you swore you saw him smirk before leaving.
“You handled Jungkook fairly well, I must say.” One of your male co-workers spoke up. Turning around, you saw him leaning against the door to the breakroom. “Do you always eavesdrop people, Yoongi?” You asked him, before registering that he somehow knew this rude as hell costumer. Frowning in thought, you heard him laugh out loud.
“Yeah, I know that man all too well, if that’s what you’re wondering. What I’m confused about, however, is how do you not know Jeon Jungkook, the to-be-CEO of Samsung? Have you even been following the news? He’s on like every hour.”
Wait, hold up. To-be-CEO? “You mean… that asshole is going to own Samsung in a while?” You uttered with much difficulty, still not able to process this information.
“So you do live under a rock.” Yoongi continued. “That explains why you’re the only one in this building who dares to speak up to him…” He said, walking away from you and back to his nap chair, or ‘station’ as he liked to call it.
Suddenly, the little doorbell rang again, and there he was again. Jeon Jungkook.
“H-hello.” You stammered, flustered with new knowledge of the man that you couldn’t help but feel embarrassed. “Lost your backbone? Too bad, I quite liked bantering with someone.” He said, pouting. “Anyways, I’ll have a latte macchiato and 3 americano’s, please.” He continued, already taking his wallet out. You could swear you heard him grumbling something in the direction of ‘too much effort, why am I the one to do this’ under his breath, but decided to ignore it.
“That’ll be fifteen dollars, please.” Taking the money Jungkook handed you, you started writing on the cups, filled them with the required beverages and handed them to him. It was only when he walked outside he took a glance at what was written on them.
“Cute asshole”.
It had been a while since you had last seen Jungkook. Being the heir to such an important company must be quite time-consuming, you thought. Although you would never admit it, you kinda missed his weekly, even daily visits at times. He wasn't hypocritical or sweet, it was pretty refreshing if you were being honest. Arguing with him made your shift that less long.
Your co-worker Yoongi nudged you, snapping you out of your daydreaming. You had been working the night shifts for two days straight and to say you were exhausted would have been an understatement. You regained your composure and got back to work.
The end of your shift finally came around and you were so relieved to just go home and relax. As you began to walk towards your place, someone bumped into you resulting in your falling to the ground. You winced in pain, ready to scream at the person responsible. Though when you looked up, your expression turned to one of surprise. "Jungkook?"
"What now?" He paused, looking into your eyes. "Oh, it's you." You rolled your eyes, it seemed to come so naturally when you were with him. "I have a name you know. Y/N. Are you gonna threaten to fire me again? Because if anyone is in a position to threaten, it's me.", you couldn't help but retort. "Is that how you treat your clients? Man, you must not get a lot of tips." He chuckled.
"Whatever. I really need to get home and decompress. I'd say it was nice bumping into you, but that'd be a lie so, bye."
His hand reached out, grabbing your wrist. Your brows furrowed at the gesture. "I know you think I'm a douche and for the record, I am, but I'm not a monster." He looked at your now dirty clothes. "Let me at least pay for a new outfit." His offer took you by surprise and you thought about refusing for the sake of your integrity but decided against it. After all, this guy was going to be bloody rich soon.
"Okay, thank you." He followed you to the store of your choosing, the two of you bickering all the way there. Although this time, it was different. It was borderline friendly bickering and you didn't exactly mind. You tried on a few outfits, then settled on the one you liked best. He paid for it without complaining (which you thought he would).
"Well thanks again. I have to head home now. I'll see you around." You waved one last time before heading off. He returned the wave and stood there, watching you grow smaller and smaller in the distance. "See you around, Y/N."
The next morning, you had to go to work as per usual, and you were totally drained of your energy. What if you had to deal with Jungkook again? You absolutely couldn’t look him into the eyes after what had happened yesterday. Was he nice? Were you guys acquaintances now? You didn’t know.
Once again, karma proved to be a bitch and the first costumer you had that day, was none other than Jungkook himself.
“You’re early.” Was the only thing you could think of, seeing it was only 6 in the morning and your brain wasn’t functioning properly yet. “That’s all? What a good customer service, I like it.” He grinned, although you didn’t quite get why.
“Aren’t you going to ask what I want?” He asked rudely, but it was nothing you weren’t used to. “Sure. What do you like?” You muttered, still half asleep, fascinated by the pen you were holding.
“You.” It took you a few moments, or rather minutes, to take in what the man in front of you had just said. “Wait a second there mister. I’m not something you can order.” You uttered, shocked he was so frank with his words.
“Too bad. Then I’ll take an Americano please.” Jungkook smirked, knowing all too well he made you flustered by that one comment.
Making his ordered coffee, you couldn’t help but glance in his direction once in a while. Most of the time, he didn’t notice, after all. He was too fascinated by a random magazine you had put on the table before.
Much to your dismay, you kept noticing how striking his features actually were. He had beautiful dark eyes and a sharply defined jawline even you could see while you were standing at least ten feet away from him.
“Oh no.” You muttered softly. This isn’t happening, you aren’t falling for him? No, you reminded yourself, you were just taken off guard by what he had said before. Yes, that had to be it. No way you were falling for this rude jerk.
But oh, you were so wrong about that.
Jungkook's flirting had definitely caught you off guard. Plus it didn't help that you didn't totally hate the guy, at least not anymore. The late-night escapade had helped you warm up to him. You didn't think he was all that bad, it was probably a façade he had to maintain to keep his reputation intact.
You finally had a day off and the last thing you wanted to do was think about Jungkook. You shrugged it off, picking up your coat and leaving the comfort of your home. You needed to get your mind off him and some fresh air would surely aid that plan. You walked about mindlessly, watching the people around you. Some seemed happy, others not so much. You looked at couples with envy, wishing you had a special someone to share so much with. Old couples made you smile unconsciously, making you believe in love.
You snapped out of your daze at the rumbling of your stomach. Your feet lead you to a quaint restaurant at the end of the street. The smell of ramen tickled your nostrils and you sat down by the window.
Just as the waiter came back with your order, you heard someone calling your name. Your eyes widened at the owner of the voice. "Jungkook, what are you doing here?" You blushed much to your dismay. "I was just in the neighbourhood for business. Mind if I join you?" "Oh, yeah. I mean no, hum go ahead." You tripped over your words, ashamed of yourself. "Aw, all out of witty retorts?" He smirked. You rolled your eyes at his comment. "Let's just say I'm out of practice." He smiled and you both started eating in a comfortable silence.
You caught him staring at you a couple of times, but you didn't pay much attention to it. He must meet beautiful girls all the time, you thought. Wait, why do I care? You shook your head vigorously. "Everything okay?"
“Yes, of course." You replied. "Daydreaming about me, are you?" He replied with that smug expression of his. You rolled your eyes at him again, ignoring him.
He walked you out, keeping you close to him. "Well I have to get back to work, but thanks for that. Work has been intense lately, I kinda needed a break. I'll be seeing you." He smirked, eyeing you up and down before walking away. Your jaw dropped. Had he just checked you out? No, that's not possible. How could a hotshot like him be interested in an average person like you?
At the end of the day, you hadn't managed to avoid thinking about Jungkook after all. You were back to work in no time, sadly. A few days had gone by since you had last seen Jungkook. You wouldn't dare admit it, but you kind of missed the arrogant guy.
Luckily, your prayers were answered. Your face lit up with a smile when you saw him enter. "Hi what would you like today, Jungkook?" "An Americano, you should know by now. And make it snappy, I don't have all the time in the world." Your face fell at his rudeness. "Yeah sure. Coming right up."
You handed him his drink and he took a sip of it, spitting it out instantly. "You call this an Americano? Wow, you have the easiest job in the world and you can't even do it right, sucks to be you." He threw the drink away and stormed out. A tear rolled down your cheek. "Hey Yoongi, I don't feel so good. Do you think-" "Of course, Y/N, go."
You chased after Jungkook, screaming his name furiously. You didn't even care if he saw you crying at this point. He turned around and his face fell when he saw your current state. "Y/N I'm sorry I-" "No, you don't get to apologize. You can't just be super nice to me and then become a total ass. That's not how it works, Jungkook. I don't care what the hell is going on in your life for you to lash out, but I sure as hell won't put up with it. And yeah, I know I have no right to be mad at you right now, but I can't help the fact that I like you."
You looked down, realizing you had just confessed. You regained your composure, set on leaving as fast as possible. He grabbed your wrist, spinning you around to look at him. "Y/N look at me, please." Your gaze met his own and his hand moved from your wrist, cupping your face.
"Jungkook what are you-" He shushed you, bringing your face closer to his own. His lips landed on your own, moving delicately. You melted into the kiss, swinging your arms around his neck. Your lips moved in a steady rhythm and your heart was beating out of your chest. He bit your lip, making you gasp. You finally separated, the both of you panting.

Synopsis: There are rumors going around the office about your o-so-strict boss, but are any of them true?
“Do not upset the boss.”
That was the only important rule at work, you picked up from your co-worker Doyoung. Every time you would walk into the office on the morning of a work day, you heard rumours and mumbling about what a strict boss you all had.
You just started working at this local, small advertising firm, interested in learning new things and doing more things that suited you, instead of just taking over the store of your dad. Which, by the way, wasn’t even doing good anyways.
But this wasn’t what you expected of it at all. Every day was filled with stress, only to meet the almost impossible deadlines. You wondered if this job was really a handful on its own, or if the boss had something to do with it, like all your co-workers were whispering about.
Suddenly, Mark screamed out loud, making you almost go deaf seeing you were just an inch apart from him. “God no! The printer is stuck again!”
By the way he sounded so desparate, you guessed this had happened several times. Before you could register it, someone laid their hand on your shoulders and turned you around. “Y/n, it’s your time to shine.” Yuta looked at you with a smirk, but it wasn’t a happy one. His eyes looked… sad.
“What do you mean? Time to- oh no.” You mumbled when you figured out what he had meant. Reporting broken stuff and asking for repairs was the job of the boss. He basically threw you in the demon’s hole right now.
While giving Mark and Yuta a goodbye, you started your journey to the CEO’s office. You were constantly worried, and seeing the motto ‘Don’t upset the boss’ pass when you walked here didn’t exactly help. You really should ask Taeyong to take it down after this.
Forgetting to knock, you just walked in. Only three steps into his office, you realized your mistake, and wanted to turn around on your heel to walk back and knock. But after you tilted your head upwards, you froze.
Right in front of you, your boss was in the middle of the process of shoving an entire cupcake in his mouth, and was equally frozen as you.
After what seemed about two minutes of full silence, you bursted out laughing. This is who you had been afraid for?
Chewing on the cupcake and swallowing it finally, the man in front of you spoke up. “Sorry for having to see that. I take it you are the new employee, Y/n was it? Nice to meet you, I’m Lucas.”
Still trying to control your giggles, you wiped away a tear from laughing and shook his hand. “Nice to meet you too. Do you always eat cupcakes like that?” You asked him, which resulted in a small chuckle on his part.
“No, I was kind of in a hurry because mister fluff.” He answered you in the most serious tone possible. “Mister fluff?” You questioned, and at that a small puppy came walking out of a room connected to Lucas’s office.
“We own a dog?!” You practically screamed and started to pet the little thing. “Well, it’s kind of my personal pet,, but I wanted to introduce it to the company. I know I don’t have the best reputation as a boss…” He started, but couldn’t finish his sentence. Setting your attention on Lucas again, you saw something sad in his eyes.
“Don’t worry, I think this is all just one big misunderstanding. And about the dog, I’m sure it will be well-received. Although, I would worry about Mark, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bigger dog person than him and I have only known him for three days now.” You laughed, and saw Lucas’s eyes smile again.
“Great, I’ll do that, even though I am a bit worried for mister fluff now. Anyways, why did you burst into my office like that?”
Having had such a good time the past ten minutes, you absolutely forgot the task you had to do. “Oh, that’s right! The printer broke again, is there any way to fix it?” You questioned, and he started to scribble something down on a small piece of paper.
“Here, follow these steps and it should work just fine again.” He smiled and took off to his desk. “If you’ll excuse me, I have some paperwork to do. Once again, it was nice meeting you.” Lucas smiled sincerely now, and it made you grin too. “All the same for me, sir.”
You turned around, ready to fix the printer. “Oh, Y/n?” You heard Lucas call out again, and you stopped in your tracks. “Just Lucas is fine for you. But don’t tell the others, this is our little secret!” Giggling, you stepped out of his office, finally ready to get back to work.
Surely, you had never seen a person look so… pained? Yuta was blocking your way to the printer, a confused frown on his face. “How? How do you just walk out of the boss’s office… smiling?” He questioned, being the drama queen that he was.
“He’s quite alright, really. Oh, and be prepared! We might get a new co-worker!” You said and took off again to do your duties.
And sure enough, a few weeks later, mister fluff was officially added to the team by Lucas. You were able to persuade him, seeing you two had your daily lunch meetings. Which were honestly more gossiping about your co-workers, but not that you minded.
You also were able to persuade him into another thing during these meetings, and you were quite happy you succeeded.
Currently, it was break time, and mister fluff was allowed into the workspace for the first time. All people couldn’t hold in their laughter when Mark screamed and practically made a dive for the dog, who was probably scarred for life now. Poor thing.
Walking over to you, Lucas wrapped an arm around your shoulders and watched the office live up by the presence of the dog. “Watch it Lucas, people could start to suspect something!” You mocked him, at ease because it clicked so well between the two of you. “I wouldn’t mind. Besides, it’s not like they would be wrong” He shrugged and pulled you even closer to his side.
“Are you sure you can act so confident? Should I maybe… bring up the cupcake chaos to them? Because I would love to liven up this office even more!” You teased him, and deserved the following push you received from him.
“That was one time! Besides, that would ruin my reputation even more. When do I get the time to be cool and bossy other than at work?” He chuckled and leaned in, giving you a small peck on your lips. “I’m glad I started this firm.” He suddenly muttered, like a proud dad who just saw his son accomplish something great.
“And I’m glad I started working here. Otherwise I would have never met you.” You uttered, and pecked him back on the lips.
You two were so far gone into your own world, you didn’t even notice the attention of your co-workers shift from the dog to you two. They wouldn’t let you live it down, you were sure.
