For my final project i used my artwork from the topics Cubism and Dada. For my piece I took my background of my Cubism project which emphasizes brighter colors and random shapes I put on the paper straight from my brain. The piece of my work in front of the background consists of my puppet I made. The randomness of both artwork pieces collab with each other which reminds me of the randomness of a puppet show. To hold the background and puppet piece I used a cut out cardboard box to give the “puppet show” idea.

Final Project:

The two art history lessons that resonated the most with me were Fuavism and Impressionism. I was inspired by the colors and movement from these two lessons. I used a wooden canvas for this, using thick wax-like paint and with a paint brush I dabbed it on around the wood to create texture. The colors I chose relate to the Fauvism assignment because I chose soft white, pink, and blue to represent peace, tenderness, and comfort. I used two twigs to form a cross in the center, found pedals from a bush, cut out two flowers from a magazine, used a fake flower, and stuck on three of my favorite Bible verses. This ties in with the Impressionism assignment because of the pedal movement.

I am really happy with how this turned out and love having it in my room, as it serves as a reminder of my faith and that God’s got my back always:) I had a lot of fun this semester experimenting my creativity!

For my final art assignment I decided to combine the Cubism week and the Impressionism lessons. To start with the Cubism designs I was inspired by starting with a background and then added magazine pieces. I decided to use highlighters, flair pens, and markers to make different styled shapes and designs for my base. I then used fun foods and sauces for my magazine clippings to add to that cubism theme. This gave me that unique perspective that is involved with the cubism lesson.

To incorporate the next part of my final piece I deiced to make another impressional photo of Josh Allen. This time I drew Josh Allen doing his iconic first down point. This usually happens after Josh Allen does something amazing to get a first down. I used a pencil to sketch him and kept those pencil marks to give that motion look that is used in the Impressionism lesson. I then used color pencils to give him the Buffalo Bills colors of red and blue, and just outlined him to make him stand out a little bit more. By combining both of these assignments I created a piece of the creativity and uniqueness from Cubism and the iconic stand out moment from Impressionism.

For my project I used a revealed coke can for the body, a set of unused chopsticks for the arms and legs, a cut out of tiger woods for the head, and red ribbon to hold the body during the video. My puppets name is Coca Woods , he loves upbeat music because it matches his happy and energetic character.

Abstract Expressionism

The two art history lessons i decided to use was the fauvism portrait and the cubism assignment. My artwork that I created the background I incorporated the cubism assignment because I loved that you could loosely draw shapes and lines and it was very care free. It also just took my hand anywhere it wanted to go when drawing the shapes and and lines. I was inspired to use this because when i'm drawing I like to be care free and just draw whatever comes to my mind and that's what happens when I use this technique and multiple colors it explains myself. I loved the cubism assignment because it started with an art movement that began in Paris, France that led to new shapes and perspectives.

I also incorporated the fauvism assignment because I really loved it. I love sketching and portraits and I loved the idea of using different colors to show what type of person and how kind and nice the person I did my portrait on is. I also loved the idea of using multiple colors again as well because I love multiple colors and bright colors. I also loved how this was inspired by Matisse's portrait, "Women with a Hat." because I loved his art. These two projects were some of my favorite ones that we did and together I had an awesome time doing my final project.

Dada project:

My puppet is called Shania she is very talkative and fun. She loves to dance and sing! I created her using pom poms, pipe cleaners, magazines, construction paper, chop sticks, toothpicks, and gems.

Assignment 9: Surrealism

I chose to make a vest using paper bags, a cheezit box, and the netting from a bag of oranges. I used Ryan to measure the dimensions, as I was going to have him model the vest in the end. I liked the examples provided by Nicole McLaughlin, where she made vests out of bread and cereal. I used that as inspiration and found whatever I could use to make a vest of my own. Vests provide slight insulation for days that might not require wearing a full coat, and this vest can do just that.

Futurism:

This is Paro. Paro is a therapeutic robot intended to be used in hospitals and extended care facilities. Paro helps reduce patient stress and stimulates interaction between patients and caregivers. It has different sensors that helps it perceive people and its environment, as well as recognizing light and dark. Paro can feel being stroked, beaten, and held. Paro can learn to behave in a way that the user prefers. For the future, Paro can help be a presence for patients when they don’t have visitors and allow them to be calm and relaxed

Surrealism Project

For this project i decided to make a purse with a soda bottle and chipotle bag handles as the sides. Very spacious inside the bag too with lots of room to put ur wallet and snacks! Very fashionable and great for going out occasions!

I chose the Mezocoin Galactic as my new piece of technology. This is a desk fidget toy that uses AI. I thought this was very interesting as AI had a very bad reputation. Using AI is something as little as this isn't harmful and is in fact very helpful. This is use to relieve stress and anxiety. This use of AI in the future in simple things like this will be very excited to watch unfold.

Futurism Homework:

The device I chose was an AI mirror. In the future it will be used more and can track your weight, blood pressure, sleep, and so much more. This mirror will allow people to be more cautious about their health because the mirror will tell them about their nutrition, blood pressure, heart rate and tons more. This future device could help people live longer and realize when something is off with their health.

Cubism Assignment

For this assignment I used a tree to look like a wing of an arm and a taco to use as the other arm. I am used an ice cream cone and a hairspray as the legs. I then used cut outs of 2024 and 2025 as the eyebrows and pretzels as the eyes. I used an alcohol bottle as the body. The background I used a lot of color and different shapes to make it pop.

I decided to draw my friend Ellie. To draw her i used blue and purple. I feel like these two colors show her vibrant personality. She is very in touch with her emotions and is always helping those around her. Ellie gives really good advice with a very welcoming presence. The blue and purple combining shows her welcoming presence. I used pink, red, and orange for the background to show her passion. She is extremely passionate about everything she works hard for. She puts a lot of her time into learning about her future career. These colors also she her self-expression. She will always be honest with you and is very passionate about wanting the best for her friends.

Fauvism Assignment:

For this assignment I drew my friend Mika with markers. Mika has a unique and energetic personality, but is also very chill and easy to have around. I made the background colors blue and purple, representing her chill vibe and creativity. I chose to color her body pink to represent her playfulness, she’s so silly! I also added some green in there because she has been growing and through the lessons she’s learned here at bonaventure. Finally I made the cup she’s holding orange and yellow to represent her enthusiasm and energy that she carries with her every day.

For my Fauvism portrait, I drew my friend BK. I chose the colors pink, yellow, red, orange, blue, purple, green, and brown. The color pink is nurturing and playfulness and that's BK is there for you in a time of need and likes to joke around and laugh a lot. The color yellow symbolizes happiness and energy, and optimism and BK is all of those as she is a very energetic person who takes everyday as an opportunity to be better and just to be happy! The color red, symbolizes, passion, energy, and excitement in this describes BK perfectly because she has so much passion for things in her life such as soccer and religion, and she brings so much excitement and energy to practices and everywhere in general. The color blue symbolizes, her calmness, trustworthiness, and loyalty. BK is very loyal to her friends and family, and you can trust her with anything. The color purple represents her creativity because she is very creative. If that's in sports or just day-to-day life she's a very creative person. The color, green symbolizes harmony, and she's always trying to harmonize situations and make sure there's stability and peace within the community. The last color brown symbolizes, her stability and reliability. BK is a very reliable friend and she is very good at having routine in her day-to-day life and is very stable. 

Overall, I chose these colors because her energetic aura is very powerful and strong and confident and someone you can trust.
