and out of the darkness - you you you you you
I've been in a bit of an art funk lately, so I decided to do a little redraw of this piece from 2021.
did you predict the bloody mary ship
yeahhh, they can take care of each other out there ㅠㅅㅠ
my shaylas ( ˃ᯅ˂)
made a matching drawing to my Iron Lung fanart, because to me, they are two sides of the same coin (same side of the coin, imo) they go hand in hand 🤝 also the little kibty is named Felicette! she was the first cat to go to space and come back safely 🥹 she is often forgotten in the history of space travels, and for what she had to go through, i wanted to have her here as well because she deserves it 🧎

"Can you find me?"
HOKY HELL YESSSS YESSSSSS OH MY GOD I HAVE DROPPED TO KY KNEES AND AM TEARING MY SKIN OFF THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL

"IT'S RAINING SIDEWAYS" audio i think it'd be hilarious bcs while grace is saving the world with the power of friendship, simon is saving the world with the power of this fucking radiation camera and spite
Artemis II
[Minecraft End Poem, photos and screenshots from Artemis II mission and NASA livestream]
The crew crying as they become the furthest people from earth, the naming of the Integrity crater and that bright spot Carroll after Reid's wife...
I love humanity, I love how we go to the moon and we name that bright spot after someone loved. We name that crater after the little craft that carried them so far.
Something about us being so small, barely making a dent in the universe, but still going with love.
Artemis sends the Orion back to Gaia 🌍
.
What’s that saying? We are the Universe experiencing itself. Well, these Artemis II astronauts are out there experiencing the universe on an entirely different level.
I’ll admit, I had this idea and I did not eat or sleep or move until it was done. It was just one of those things that you need to get out or it’ll stay a sketch forever. I changed up my style a bit for this one too, utilizing some of the more artsy procreate brushes I have never touched in my entire life as an iPad artist.
You gotta love space, man. 🌖
We will always choose Earth / Moon Joy

Welcome home Artemis II
*completes this huge scientific feat*
“Walkie talkie broke.”
our beautiful pale blue dot welcomes you home!
the artemis ii mission reminds me why i love humanity so much. they play pink pony club for the astronauts. they have issues with microsoft outlook. one of the astronauts named a moon crater after his late wife. a jar of nutella just flew by. they make 67 memes because they’re big nerds with huge hearts who say that we look beautiful from there. they call dibs on sleeping arrangements and the mission specialist likes sleeping like a bat. the pilot’s daughter shows her dad off on her social media.
dunno just sometimes helps to think that we can do things like that.
We're all (justifiably) going feral over official NASA comms saying "amaze amaze amaze" but like-- yes. It's not a coincidence. Of course the literal rocket and planetary scientists at the top of their careers were inspired to get where they are today by a deep love for the narrative motifs and imagination of sci-fi. Of course PHM is filled with science fact and practical effects to make the fiction that much easier to connect to. Of course the Martian was inspired by Apollo 13 - what could be more inspiring than real people in real situations? Science and art are so deeply personal, deeply interconnected, and when you let them coexist you get a crewed moon launch and a heartfelt sci-fi movie, within a month of each other, that *both* remind everyone how to feel the sense of joy and wonder and curiosity that inspired them in the first place.
