I had a rough day. It started out less than stellar… I don’t know if my body isn’t taking to fasting anymore or it’s just because I’ve entered my luteal phase but either way! I did not feel good today before my lunch break. THEN, later in the day, I was helping my mom make dinner when I almost cut off my ring finger cutting vegetables😫 (looked around to make sure my mom didn’t see that mishap, lol). After that I tried to be a good daughter and run her recyclables out to the bin. Well, as soon as I stepped onto the wet deck the next thing I knew I was on my butt! And it HURT! My dog was even concerned lol! Then if that’s not bad enough, I BROKE my favorite kitchen knife😭 yes. The handle broke right off while I was using it. I was so sad and have to live without until Thursday 😵
So yeah. I (falsely) thought I was coming down with the dreaded flu, almost down to nine fingers (Frodo of nine fingers…), got a good bruise in an undignified area, AND had a soldier down in the knife department. It was a bad day…
Content: 1.2k words. Asking for help baking this dish turns into trouble.
"Hey, Levi?" You call quietly, standing in the doorway.
He doesn't answer, too preoccupied with piles of paperwork, sitting at his desk in his workroom.
"Sweetheart? I could use your help." You aren't trying to be annoying, knowing he needs to get this done, but it's an emergency.
Levi puts his pen down and sighs. Damn you and that term.
He pushes away from the desk and comes to stand in front of you, eyebrow raised.
"Just, can you just help me cut into them?" You wait for it.
"I showed you how-" He starts.
"It's too hard!" You almost cry.
Levi rolls his eyes and takes you by the hand, leading the way to the kitchen.
"I don't know why I have to help with this." He grumbles.
"Because! Because we're all going and everyone is making a dish and this is ours."
"Yours." He corrects you while you pout.
For the holiday you are having a friendsgiving get together. Everyone started claiming the traditional dishes, Jean called the turkey, Armin the cranberry sauce, Connie a green bean casserole, Sasha the mashed potatoes, Erwin a stuffing, and so on. You saw this great idea for a squash casserole and without even thinking put that down.
Now however, you wish you hadn't. The dish needs pumpkin, acorn and butternut squash, and you forgot how hard it is cutting them open. In fact, you never tried again since the first time.
But you couldn't change your mind now. The others thought it sounded great and stores were running out of things anyway.
"Thank you." You say to Levi, who with barely any effort already has the pumpkin in half. You start scooping out the seeds while he works on the butternut, your worst enemy.
He finishes the task you give him before you even get through the entire pumpkin and without a word goes back to his office.
You get the squash into the oven and start pulling out measuring cups for sugar and maple syrup and things to mix in, and forty minutes later you are meekly knocking on the door again.
"Hey, Levi-"
"What do you need?" This time he interrupts you.
"Can you help me scoop? They're really hot."
"So wait until they're not." Obviously.
"Well, I know, but everything is set to go in and the oven is still on..." You trail off, listing reasons.
Levi not so gently slams his pen back down and is heading to the kitchen again.
He knows, that you know, that he wants these papers done so he can actually relax for a bit, but instead you're delaying it. However, he's always told you to come to him for help. Which includes now.
The three squash are now in a large bowl with the other ingredients and you are mixing while Levi is buttering a pan, then helps you pour the mixture in.
"Anything else?" He's a little irritated, but at least it's done.
"No, I can finish the topping myself." You step forward, right in front of him.
"Okay." He says as you wrap your arms around him.
"Thank you." You say softly, feeling his arms around you.
"You're welcome." Holding you like this always helps his mood, even if it was your fault to begin with.
Levi kisses your forehead and is going back to finish when you call to him again.
"Yes?" He turns around, unsuspecting.
You scoop out a spoonful of leftovers and fling it at him, hitting his chest and watching it fall in a mess onto the floor.
Levi stands there with his eyes shut, trying to figure out if he even believes what you just did.
You however can't stop giggling.
"Are you serious?" He wants to know, making you laugh harder.
"I'm sorry, I'll clean it." You wet a paper towel and do your best to fix his shirt.
"After I just stopped my work to help you." Did you forget already?
"Levi, it's fine." It's a harmless joke.
"This is the thanks I get?" There's something in his voice you're not sure of.
"It's not that bad." You say as you lean over to wipe up the floor.
"So you say." Your eyes widen, because in an instant he has shoved his whole hand into the bowl and has sent you running for cover.
Without any regard for the kitchen, he throws what he can at you, having it smack into your neck.
"Ugh! Stop!" This is so much worse than what you did.
"Stay still!" He insists, opening up a container.
"What are you doing?!" You exclaim, seeing what he has.
"You love brown sugar so much? Have some!" He's got a hold of your shirt and is smearing it all in your hair.
You are left in tears partially from laughing as you try to get him back and a bit because you really are crying at the mess he's making.
You end up sitting on the floor trying to figure out if there's more of a mess on you or all over the kitchen. Flour, oats and even maple syrup have been used as weapons as well, also leaving you wondering if there's enough for the topping. Levi isn't nearly as bad off.
"Clean this up." He tells you.
"What?"
"This is your mess. I'm going to go shower." He says, already taking his shirt off. You can just consider this payback for forcing him into this.
"Are you kidding me!?" Now you really are crying.
He actually leaves you there, trying to figure out how to clean everything.
You whine and pout to no one, forcing yourself up to make the topping and get the pan back into the hot oven to finish.
Fifteen minutes later you've barely gotten anywhere with the scrubbing.
"Stop your sniffling." Levi has reappeared, hair wet and towel around his waist.
"I don't deserve this!" You cross your arms, feeling defeated. You are a sticky train wreck of food.
You are horrified when Levi chuckles. "It's not that bad."
"How dare you!" Use those words against you when it is very much so that bad!
He takes the cloth from you and leads you out of the kitchen.
"It's not that bad, because after we wash the sugar out of your hair, I'll help you clean." He says with that soft smile you love so much.
Oh. Well that's different. "Really?" You aren't sure if he's messing with you.
"You didn't think I'd just leave you there, did you?" You should know him better than that.
"I, wasn't sure." It seemed like he was going to.
"Besides, I need your help with paperwork." You are going to help make up for lost time.
"Okay." You easily agree to this, thankful that he really is always willing to help you.
You, him and the kitchen are spick and span in no time, and before sundown the paperwork is done as well.
Even if Levi might complain, he's thankful that you get him away from his desk and that food fights don't happen often.
The next day at friendsgiving, your dish is a hit.
Levi pretends he didn't hear you say you'll be making it again.
----------
a/n-good luck if you're baking! If anyone messed with this dish I really would cry cause it takes some work, but is really yummy!
Good Morning Fandom! I saw this and thought it could make a lovely fic. If you'd like, give it a go! :)

I’m at the stove trying to make some potato soup.
Humming ABBA’s song slipping through my fingers to myself.
When I suddenly feels warm lips on my shoulder.
I let out a screech and with a start I get the wooden spoon out and when I turn around Bryce is covered in yellow potato soup.
He licks some off of his lips.
”Could use some salt. Otherwise it’s not bad,“ he says
I put a hand over my racing heart
”Oh my god. You scared the hell out of me.“
He smirks and I know he’s going to do something that’ll make me super furious and laughing hard at the same time.
He takes the wooden spoon and dips it into the soup. Seconds later I’m covered in yellow potato soup too.
I gasp.
I wipe some of it away and when I re-open my eyes I grin.
”You shouldn’t have started this soup war. You’re going down Lahela,“ I say to him
”You know what they say. All‘s fair in love and soup,“ he grins
”That’s not a saying. But I’ll indulge you this time,“ I say
I take my wooden spoon and throws some liquid at Bryce.
He laughs and darts to the side. Soup droplets are now covering the floor.
”You should learn how to hit better. Cause that was lame,“ he says
”You would dare say that to me? Your own fiancé? Really?“ My mouth forming a small o.
Bryce laughs
”So what? You need to have some fun. And I’m the guy for that,“ he grins
I lean onto the counter and sigh deeply. My right hand behind my back.
”Maybe you’re right. I should learn how to hit better. Maybe you can show me?“ I ask
”How do I know this isn’t a cheap trick?“ he asks suspiciously.
I look at him innocently.
”No cheap trick I promise,“ I say lying through my teeth.
He walks closer and when he stands in front of me. My hand dips into the soup and I smear it into his hair. Making it appear more blonde.
Soup is dripping onto his face.
”There. More blond. Suits you,“ I laugh while he licks some droplets away.
He just grins and smushes me into him until I’m covered in soup.
”No. It’s too much soup,“ I protest laughingly.
Bryce grins
”That’s what you get Auclair,“ he says
When we’re this close I wipe some of the soup out of his face.
He gives me a light kiss. Making me want more, but soon we break apart. Because our clothes are starting to stick together.
We both look down and start to laugh.
”Dinner is served huh?“ he laughs his eyes glowing with mirth
We laugh again.
”Guess we both learned something. And you were right. It needs more salt,“ I say giving him another kiss.
”See? I was right and we had a lot of fun,“ he says
I grin
”Ready for a water fight?“ I ask
He returns my grin
”You know it babe,“ he says
I run to our outside shower and he chases me until I’m out of breath and he breathes normally. Those work-outs must clearly pay off.
We continue to have fun for the rest of the day.
This is why love him so much. He knows when something bothers me. He tries to make it lighter. To make me have fun.
A lot of people don’t see that, but B is an incredible guy. Despite being fantastic in his field of work. He’s an amazing guy, who you can have fun with, but you can also have a deeper conversation with him. He might not show it, but he’s scared to be honest and vulnerable with people. Being scared that he might get hurt again.
He doesn’t have to be scared. Not with me. I see him and I like all parts of him. There’s more to a person than her or his good looks. Sure those don’t hurt. But when you take a closer look, you’ll see that there might be something more. And I will always be happy of the time we’re spending together. Discovering something new about each other. A new favorite dish or a new hobby we can try out.
He shuts off the water and sees me staring at him.
He shakes his hair water flying every which way.
”What? Is there still some soup in my hair?“ he asks
I grin and put some errand strands out of his face.
His hair is getting longer. But I like it. It’s so him.
”Is everything alright?“ he pulls us closer
I nod and just hug him.
”Too many emotions hitting you?“ he asks softly
I nod
”With you I don’t have to be scared. I can be sad if I want. Or angry and frustrated. You won’t hate me or think I’m damaged or broken. That’s one of the many reasons why I love you,“ I say
Bryce brushes my hair away.
”I don’t think you’re broken or damaged. We all have demons and struggles. It’s okay to sometimes not be okay,“ he says
I gulp
”That scares me,“ I admit quitly
”It doesn’t have to. You can be yourself with me. No need to put up any walls. Whatever it is we’ll talk about it. If I can’t help, I’m sure your therapist can,“ he captures my lips in a kiss.
We break apart
”Would it be okay if you went with me?“
”I don’t know if you’ve noticed but my love for you comes with a lifetime guarantee. So of course I’ll go with you. You know I’ll be there. You can even sit on my lap,“ he smirks
I grin and put my arms around his waist
”Are you trying to make me give you a lap-dance?“ I ask
He puts his hands on my bare ass
”The last one wasn’t so bad,“ he smiles his smile. One that always makes me super giddy.
I huff out a breath
”Wasn’t bad? I had no idea what I was doing half the time. And that underwear didn’t make me feel any more special or anything,“ I admit
Bryce grins
”You don’t need any fancy clothing or any sort of tricks, as long as it’s you anything is a turn-on,“ he says grazing his lips over mine
”Really? I need to remember that for next time. Also no need to be shy,“ I say on a sigh
He puffs out his chest
”Shy?“ he asks
I grin wickedly
”You can give me a lap dance anytime you want,“ I say
”What is this the casting for Magic Mike?“ he crosses his arms over his chest, his biceps on full display. I look at it appreciatively
”I never liked that movie anyway. I’ve got myself a real Magic Mike right here. You look way better than those guys,“ I say pulling him closer.
He grins against my lips
”I’m glad my work-outs are paying off. That means the money is going to a good cause,“ he says
I pull away to look at him.
”My satisfaction?“ I ask
”Sure. Why not?“ he says
I grin
”Such a jerk,“ I say
”One you love though,“ he says matter-of-fact.
”That’s true. And…“ I let the sentence unfinished
He raises his eyebrows, almost hitting his hairline.
”And?“ he asks
I grin with mischief
”I actually have a cake for you,“ I say
He seems surprised
”Really?“
I press my lips together trying not to smile
”Oh yeah it’s in the fridge,“ I say as we grab some bathrobes we always keep handy for whenever we take a shower outside.
Bryce grins with glee
”Let’s get dressed and dig in,“ he says putting on the robe and walking with swift
Moves to the kitchen.
I not and smile to herself
When we’re dressed we sit down. I wait and gesture to Bryce to get the cake out of the fridge.
”I’ll let you do the honors,“ I say
He has a confused look on his face
”Okay…“ he gets up to get the cake out. That’s when he sees what’s written on it. He almost drops it.
I laugh
”Surprise,“ I say gesturing to the cake.
”How shocked were they at the bakery?“ he asks as if he’s scared to even know
”Not at all. Since I made it myself. The only person who saw it was Maxi. And she had a laughing fit over it. So it’s all good,“ I say
Bryce laughs and stares at the words written on the cake.
It says ”Best dick ever“ in gleaming red frosting
”Really? You think so?“ he asks his voice husky
I nod enthusiastically
”You blow my mind. Literally,“ I say a wicked tone in my voice.
He comes closer as he put down the cake on the counter.
”So I’m that good huh?“
I wait a couple of seconds
”Uh yeah,“ I say as if it’s obvious.
He points a finger at me
”Wait you hesitated for a few seconds,“ he says
”Only because I really want to dig into the cake. And I had to decide if I should give you an answer fist or if I should eat some cake and then give you an answer,“ I say not shy about the fact that I want some cake.
He nods
”Right. Good thing no one except Maxi saw this,“ he says
”Only family. My parents didn’t see it,“ I say grinning
Bryce is blushing though it’s really hard to tell. His caramel skin doesn’t reveal much, but I always know.
He runs a hand through his hair
”So that’s what those weird messages were from your cousins. We got to stop sharing everything,“ he says to me
I laugh so hard I almost topple over my chair, but Bryce holds it steady and I shoot him a grateful look.
”You should’ve seen Sky‘s face. It was so hilarious. He said he’ll just pretend I’m still innocent and I’ve never had sex before,“ I laugh
His shoulders relax a bit
”At least I can sleep better knowing Keiki isn’t experiencing anything of that,“ he says
I chew on my bottom lip and when I don’t answer him, he knows something’s up.
”What? Is there something I should know,“ he asks
”Well looks like she met someone new, but she won’t share anything. I just know there’s a new guy in her life. The most important thing is we’ve had the talk and as long as she’s safe, she’s good. Even if she gets pregnant. We’re all here. She won’t be alone,“ I say meaning every word. I love Keiki and she’s part of our family. I couldn’t imagine her not being in it.
Bryce smiles, his eyes full of love for his sister. I’m so glad to see that. They’ve had a rough patch and I’m glad they could make up.
”You’re almost like a second mom. Or more like a big sister,“ he takes my hands on his.
”I think it’s a mix of both. Now I crave cake,“ I think on that.
He smiles and slides me the cake and I cut us two pieces each.
”So what’s the guys name?“ his tone conversational.
I look up from enjoying my cake.
”I have no clue. I think she’s careful after Dylan broke things off. So my guess is she wants to keep it quiet until she’s sure. We won’t pressure her. When she’s ready she’ll tell us,“ I say confidentially.
We enjoy our slices of cake and talk about our day and spending time with each other.
Later when we lie in bed I scoot closer to B, wanting to feel his soft skin against mine. Kissing his shoulder right where his heart is.
He sighs softly in his sleep, a small smile dancing across his lips.
While the soft, pale moonlight drifts into the bedroom. Creating a black and white scenario.
I fall asleep with the love of my life next to me.
I just had my first walkout on my shift. The guy was a tool. Could not remember which plate went with a sandwich after being trained for three weeks. He was still asking me day one shit. He bucked up to my grill guy and just as I was about to send he home. He said fuck this shit I quit. When he left the shift ran smooth as butte. Some people should not be in a kitchen.
When Im training a new chef in a position that I myself work once a month, I do not need selfish servers in my way, in my face and griping about the new chef in front of him.
Im now working with a guy I went to highschool with. This happens when you move back home. The management seems to like him and it was nice to have competition. He has Been in the hospital twice, had two car accidents and a flat tire. Just now asked me to work his shift. It’s only been 2 wks. To me he is dead weight and now I remember what a screup he was in Jrotc. He is no longer competition and I doubt he will make it much longer. On top of this he tries to make me look bad any chance he gets. Wish he would either man up do the job or quit.
