I’ve been in my own apartment for almost a year and I just barely started making it homey and nice.
I think the homifying started around Christmas time when we FINALLY got a bed that’s made for more than one small human. We went from a twin on the floor in the corner to a queen bed with frame and everything, taking up 75% of the room. So yea. There’s that. But them I bought a duvet and a duvet cover! I’ve been drooling over these for MONTHS on Amazon, and finally my bed looks amazing. I ordered a couple decorative pillow covers that was super cheap, and you were supposed to buy pillows to put in them and the darn pillows were like $5-$10 each. EACH! Pft. No. Sooo I bought 10 pounds of pillow stuffing. When that came in the mail, I realized 10 pounds of fluff, was A LOT! So far I’ve stuffed 10 pillows and barely used half of it. BARELY. But hey, you never have too many fun pillows. A few of my favorites include the poop emoji pillow I bought at Walmart, a unicorn pillow, an octopus pillow, and a giraffe with pink glasses pillow. Tim won’t let me use all of them, so I have a few on the floor in the living room, a few in the closet, and 2 on the couch and 3 on the bed. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I have enough pillows.
Then Tim wanted to get a new gaming system because his PS3 is pretty old and has been on its last leg for about a year or so. So he used part of his portion of tax money and bought the Alienware Alpha system. At first I was kind of annoyed but now I really like it. It’s a lot easier to watch things on it than it was with the PS3. Anyway, the tv and stuff was underneath the fire watering spigget thingy and since we just spent a bit of money on this system I figured we should move it so it wouldn’t be right underneath it. But we couldn’t just put it on the other side of the room, that would be too boring. Sooo! We put it in the corner and positioned the couch accordingly. It is very unique, but it works and we really like it. I also added a rainbow mural thing on the wall. I’ve been wanting to make this since I saw it years ago online. It’s like, so awesome, and FREE!! Even better!Â
Now moving on to the kitchen. The dollar store has shelf liners for a dollar (duh) and I found a really cute pattern and bought a few of those and a few of the liners that stop things from sliding around, and went to work! I lined all my drawers and some of the fridge. It looks really nice, and helps it look a little brighter. I’ve been adding little bits of color to my kitchen little bit by little bit. I have colorful measuring spoons, knives, mixing bowls, and cutting boards, and a few other utensils. It makes a sink full of dirty dishes look better. I recently got on an organizing kick and bough a few colorful containers from the dollar store to organize the kitchen and bathroom closet better. Whenever I go to the dollar store they don’t have much in lieu of containers. I have a few random ones that I managed to find in a few different trips. I found that oatmeal packets fit perfectly in one of the sizes of containers. It looks so pretty and neat in the little container and it’s sooo easy to just pull it out and grab one and put it back. I need to get one the perfect size for my tea bags!Â
Side note, I’ve been making coffee and chai tea and mixing them. It’s the best thing EVER.
Anyway, more to come! Possibly pictures too!Â
