Teacher Certification
So I am employed to start teaching at a charter school next year. Where I live you are not required to have your teaching certificate if you will be teaching at a charter school. I want to have my certificate so I am applying for a Post Baccalaureate program which I plan to complete while teaching. Thought it would be an easy enough application process. Just send my university transcripts with my application and I am done. Nope. There are essay questions.Â
It has been four years since I graduated with my degree and oh my god am I rusty on writing. The application has five essay questions which require at least 1600 characters per question. Would have been easy as pie four years ago when I was still writing essays on a regular basis. Now it is not so easy. I am struggling a bit.
I get why they have essay questions on the application, they want to filter out the lazy people who aren’t going to give their all to the program. And they want to see what drives us to become teachers. Totally get it. I am just frustrated at myself. I used to be so good at writing and now I am struggling to write a couple paragraphs!?Â
On the bright side, at least I am getting some practice in before I enter into the program. Just a friendly reminder to everyone out there who plans on going back to school after a break- it’s going to take some time to get your mojo back. But I will get it back, I promise you that.Â
