Evaluation

Throughout this project I have tried to keep to my original pitch which was...

The outcomes I have produced I am really proud of and I feel have met the original pitch. I love the way my CD looked and how my poster looked. I feel like I used both conventional thoughts and feeling to the two genres I was mixing together (heavy metal and ballet). I chose to have my model in black, surrounded by black and dramatic music to support heavy metal music. The curly writing and the names of the track support the ballet within this album.

Throughout this project I struggled with getting my MUA I found one but she cancelled last minute which left me short so I had to step in. I just wish that I had a professional to do her make up however I am very happy with how her make up turned out in such short notice.

The shoot itself went really well, my model was excellent and took suggestion and we worked well together.

Overall I am really happy with this project I feel that I have found a niché market and executed it well.

I am now looking forward of whats to come next.

Here is my final video which I am extremely happy with and love the way the song and movements fit together.

Once I agreed that the video was perfect and was of good quality I uploaded it to YouTube.

When it came to editing my film I chose to put it into black and white to create a bigger contrast between the blacks and whites. I had to cut my song down from 5 mins to 3 and I faded it out to remove a sharp ending.

Once all the video clips were in place and I was happy with them I exported it.

I looked into the different types of binding I could use to put my booklet together. There are so many different types like...

- Saddle stitching

- Staples

- Perfect Binding

- Section Sewn

For my booklet I wanted an oldish style to fit with the classical feel of ballet.

I decided to saddle stitch my booklet together..

I chose black cotton thread so it wouldn’t be too visible to the human eye and it wouldn’t disturb the image.

Printing was a difficult process for me I printed a few times to get my booklet and cd right. My first set of prints I hadn’t realised that the templates didn’t allow some of my images to export so when I printed them in gloss there was images missing.

My second print of my booklet 2 of the images were discoloured and the images didn’t flow together. So I had to remake my template with a 12cm-12cm diameter pages. The final print worked well and I was finally happy with the components of my CD.

My poster printed the first time in Gloss and I was instantly happy with it. I loved it and couldn’t be prouder of it.

I went on to produce my 8 page booklet and made sure I had enough pages and made sure that each image was different and not too similar.

Now I had made my front cover I could go ahead and create my Facebook page, iTunes album and Instagram page. I created each account as how it would look if they were live accounts.

I now created my front cover and back cover. With the back cover I added a spine and a barcode to make it look for authentic.

I decided to name my tracks as symphonies due to the fact I wanted to support the idea as it was music for ballet.

This is how my final poster looked.

I started by editing my poster, I used the graphic and typeface he gave me and positioned the typeface underneath the graphic. From then I added a release date, I put this is in a similar font to the “Butterflies” in the main text.

Whilst looking at the poster I felt like it needed something else so I wanted to add some sponsors. I decided to add the Royal Ballet and New York City Ballet.

He finally got back to me, he had used one of my images and made it into a graphic. I loved the way it looked but now it just needed some typeface.

When he finally gave me the typeface it looked like this below...

However I wanted the butterflies to be in an italic and curly font to symbolise the flow and classical feeling of ballet. It ended up looking like the following text...

I loved the way it looked now it just needed to be put all together.

While I was waiting for my graphic designer to get back to me I started designing my CD and CD inlay. I chose to go with some feet shots as the two different positions worked well together. Once the CD is removed the next position is revealed and it adds a feeling of movement to the CD.

Before I did my shoot I priced up how much I would spend on each element of this project and I came up with a budget of £290 and then I wrote down how much I actually spent. I was £251 under budget.

He got back to me with these 3 images which I really liked but obviously couldn’t use due to it not being one of my images so I sent him a few of my images to see what he could do with them and I waited for some results.

After the shoot I got in contact with a graphic designer to see if he could make me a logo and typeface for my album. I wanted something different for my album cover something that could make my album stand out, so I waited to see what he came up with.

My filming went well I played the music in the background and she just danced and showed me ballet moves and I added suggestions when I needed to. This is a behind the scenes clip of some of the videoing taken by my assistant.

For my photographs and videoing I used this lighting set up.
