Hi! Welcome to Krukora, a magical medieval-ish fantasy world populated by furries!

THIS BLOG IS PREFERABLY FOR USERS 18+ !!!!!! There will be NSFW topics and/or comments, and potentially suggestive art and images. Nothing incredibly explicit, but please at least be aware that there may be content inappropriate or uncomfortable for minors!

My name is Leo, I am the diabolical mastermind behind this project. I intend for this blog to be a comprehensive source of information on Krukora and its lore and inhabitants that is easy for me to format and update.

Some Krukora basics: The continent of Krukora is divided into 18 nations, each with a native anthropomorphic species and a commonly worshipped deity. Krukoran society operates based on a sort of feudal caste system in which each species is numerically ranked. The origins and reasoning behind this hierarchy and each species’ place within it have largely been lost to time or forgotten, often justified with sentiments akin to “That’s just the way it’s always been done.” Magic exists in Krukora, but its origins are still being investigated, because as far as anyone can tell, it is seemingly distributed randomly to a very small percentage of citizens at birth. There are 17 different kinds of elemental magic, one assigned to each species of magic users, save for the monsters of Itobuchi.

Technology

Krukora is in the midst of a semi-medieval time period, so Krukoran technology is not very advanced. Most Krukorans are uneducated and will never attend an educational institution in their life. However, because a small percentage of Krukorans have the ability to use magic, advancements have been made past that of medieval Europe, for example. As a result of this, Krukorans have access to some luxuries such as electricity, steam locomotives, and photography. Magic has allowed Krukorans to progress technologically far beyond what they would have been able to otherwise. A notable exception exists to this blanket statement on the state of technology in Krukora, her name is Gemma, she’s an opossum living in the rural, semi-isolated village of Aramoor in the nation of Biskir. She has made numerous significant scientific discoveries over the course of her work, which mostly involves creating whatever useful or amusing devices come to her mind. Due to Gemma’s reclusive nature, though, she has yet to share these innovations with the rest of the world, nor does she really see the need to. Some of her inventions include rudimentary prototypes of motorized vehicles, as well as propulsive flying devices similar to jetpacks, and perhaps most notably, an anthropomorphic robotic laboratory assistant named Wolfram who, for all intents and purposes, seems capable of independent thought in addition to containing vast knowledge on almost every imaginable science or area of study known to Krukora.

Government and Leadership

Each Krukoran nation is led by one monarch who has complete control over their respective country's government. Usually, a monarch will have a small circle of trusted advisors and many diplomatic underlings who serve them. Monarchs control every aspect of government in their nation, including the passing of laws, international relations, and military forces.

Magic

Magic exists in Krukora, but its origins are unclear, as is how exactly to use it. It doesn’t necessarily seem to be passed down through families, because the cases in which two magic users end up raising someone incapable of using magic are just about equal to cases of the opposite phenomenon. The only thing that is certain about it is that some can use it, and some cannot. It is uncertain what exactly magic is capable of in Krukora. Magic users have control over one “element” based on their species’ patron deity. only around .25% of Krukorans can use magic. Magic almost always manifests in a Krukoran capable of using it by the age of 6. Parents/caretakers of Krukoran children who have demonstrated magical abilities are legally required to notify their nation’s magical liaison associated with the Echa Intuitive Learning Academy, who will make arrangements for the child to attend the academy until the age of 17 at the very least.

Wildlife and Citizens

All animals that exist on Krukora also exist on Earth, excluding monsters and dragons. Krukoran fauna, however, can possess a much wider variety of colors and patterns. Additionally, all feral animals that exist in Krukora can also exist as anthropomorphic animals that walk on two legs. This means that the 18 different groups of animals that make up the bipedal citizens of the Krukoran nations are the only species that exist in Krukora. Among the species that do not exist in Krukora are horses, amphibians, reptiles, pachyderms such as elephants and tapirs, wild canines other than foxes, such as wolves and coyotes, marine mammals, many marine invertebrates such as coral, starfish, and sea sponges,  hedgehogs, anteaters, giraffes, pigs, and cows. However, many of these species do appear in Krukoran mythology, most notably the zodiac, implying that perhaps at one point in history they did roam the world of Krukora.

Two thousand years BA, each deity gifted ten of the most promising animals in each of their domains with the same sentience and bipedalism the deities themselves possess, and since then the anthro animals have continued to spread. A fairly common belief among mainland Krukorans is that the deities Kemaren and Itobuchi, who refused to unite their nations with Krukora, did not initially intend to gift intelligence and anthropomorphism to their denizens in 2000 BA, and that feral Kemarenians and Itobuchese animals instead deviously stole the gift from their deities of their own accord. Islanders dismiss this belief as superstitious propoganda, yet it persists as a justification for the rampant discrimination against them. Feral animals still possess much higher intelligence than average animals in real life, and many are resentful of the animals gifted with higher intelligence and bipedalism.

The Creation of Krukora

The planet on which the continent of Krukora exists has never had a name, and Krukorans don’t know of anything outside of their continent, so the world is often referred to as Krukora, or just “the world.” Krukora is believed to have been created through sixteen of the elemental deities combining their strength in an event known to the citizens of Krukora as “The Amalgamation.” During this event, sixteen formerly separate regions ruled over by and named after one deity each were combined into one continent called Krukora. Two deities, Kemaren and Itobuchi, refused to combine their nations with the rest, but agreed to move them closer to the new continent. The period preceding The Amalgamation is denoted by the acronym BA (Before Amalgamation), and every year following it, up to and including the present year, is referred to as AA (After Amalgamation).
