when chaeyoung drinks, she always has a clear and strict limit. mostly wine, rarely hard liquor, and only a few shots- that is her creed. but what she always seems to conveniently forget (which results in quite precarious situations) is to never go for the new drink on the list.Â
and she guesses now, in the foggy and half-minded state sheâs in, that she probably should work on that more often. her vision is blended together like an oil painting, causing all sharp corners and edges to mold into the scenery around her. she knows, however, that if she is arrested for disorderly conduct the police will most definitely find out about her wings and everything would be over.
staggering around a wall and turning into an alley, she immediately regrets her decision. but chaeyoung knows she canât go back that way for fear of being arrested.
well, in the next couple of minutes sheâll have rather be arrested than the latter.Â
chaeyoung stands, leaning against a building wall, her breathing labored and taught as she fights a cramp creeping up in her torso. she closes her eyes, breathing in the musky smell of the city, trying to allow her mind to relax in the drunken state she currently is in.
the sudden noise present behind her causes her eyes to fly open, now partially sobered up now that she realizes she is definitely in danger. turning her head around, she comes face-to-face with the barrel of a handgun, and behind it is a masked assailant. she shifts her gaze back and forth from the weapon to the person, her boggled mind trying to comprehend exactly what the hell is going on.
and she realizes that the man in front of her must have been talking, or rather demanding, and in the midst of her thoughts she completely missed what he was trying to say.
she has no time to react before the gun comes smashing into her cheekbone, a splintering crack echoing out as she falls to her back. she screams, body writhing on the alley floor as both her hands clench her now-numb cheek. the pain causes her to fully sober-up, but with that comes the realization that the gun is probably loaded.
and itâs pointing right at her.
then a shot is fired, the ear-splitting cry following confirming the deed. the flash of light from the barrel of the gun illuminates chaeyoungâs tear-stricken face, and how the assailant is now sprinting away from her damaged figure.
sheâs alone now, in the darkness of the alley, a steady stream of blood escaping from an invisible hole on her stomach hidden underneath her t-shirt. she lies in a fetal position, sobs escaping her body as her arms squeeze against her stomach.
sheâs thinking about dying, and itâs probably going to happen here.
but then a voice echoes out, footsteps clambering closer and closer, and behind closed eyelids she feels herself being lifted from the cold ground and onto something warm. a person, perhaps?
her eyes open slowly, forming into slits as she stares up at the man before her through blurry teary-eyed vision. she hears the ripping of cloth and something being wrapped around her stomach, but all she can focus on is the man staring down at her.
his voice splits through her thoughts, and for a second the old sarcastic chaeyoung tries to make an appearance. but she realizes in the moment that now wouldnât be the best time and she simply nods her head in confirmation.
âi-i donât know...was standing here...man came up...gun pointed at me...â she speaks between sharp breaths as pain shoots through her. sheâs trying to converse energy, and even talking is too tiring right now.
