I mean as a person who’s had to integrate in a foreign culture (which is think is similar to how muggle borns would initially feel in the wizarding world) I know how you, despite wanting to become part of the community, seek out people like you by instinct. Tbh, all the European kids in my town would spend at least the first thirty minutes of any conversation with each other talking about how seriously no Communist is like a dirty word here and why don’t they have Kinder eggs in this fucking place is2g. So it makes sense to me that muggle borns would seek each other out and make inside jokes and dude the new Pokèmon came out bloody hell I’ll have to wait for summer to play it ugh and shit please tell me your mum sent you ballpoints again I seriously cannot deal with all this ink I keep staining everything.

Muggleborns who have plans to go back and get a uni degree after Hogwarts. Older students who have muggle girlfriends and boyfriends and datefriends they only see on holidays but send them long letters about what they’re missing in muggle school. Muggleborns who read the muggle studies textbooks out loud to each other and fall off their chairs because they’re laughing so hard. Muggleborns who meet the Squib cousins and siblings of their pureblood friends, and instead of hating each other like they’re expected to, they share a look that says “Your family doesn’t understand you either, do they?”

Majoring is saying “After this, I’m a master at this subject! This is what I came here to learn!” and minoring is like, “Hey, look! I’m somewhat educated in this too! Isn’t that neat?”

We'd probably just take night classes if we wanted to do that. Or at least I haven't came across anybody taking their degree subject and additional subjects that aren't just... on a whim i want to learn Cantonese things.

It’s so different hearing about your stuff than what my boyfriend has been talking about lately (he’s a music major). Do you know the difference of majoring or minoring?

I'm assuming majoring is like... the big subject, the one you're hopefully planning on getting a degree in, and minoring is... well, minor subjects in the sense that they're additional to your big subject.
