Photos from this semester’s past trip to Letchworth State Park and Niagara Falls, first time being to either of these places.

2017 was half perfect and half brought on many challenges - but that’s what it’s all about, right? I made a list on notes on my phone of all my favorite moments from 2017 from some of the biggest ones to some of the smallest ones. It goes on seemingly forever, but here are some selected highlights from that giant list:

My end of 2016 post talked about how I had no idea where 2017 would take me and wow did it take me far. I never would have expected any of this. I have big plans for 2018 and so for this next year I’m going to push towards them and work hard, knowing where I’m working towards. But of course it’s impossible to plan, so I’m open for spontinuity.

Photos from when I went out to eat at a really cool place with two of my favorite people before the semester ended. But I’m not back to write about then, I wanted to reflect on another moment earlier in this semester which was one of my favorite nights I’ve ever lived.

One of my favorite nights was September 9th. And I only remember that date because I don’t even have a picture from the event, but a stupid snapchat from Panera Bread right before we went out. Here it is:

My friends and I piled into two cars and drove about 45-60 minutes away to a drive-in together. Mattresses, pillows, and blankets loaded in the back of the truck. It was one of the first cooler nights but nothing a sweatshirt, some blankets, and a pile of cuddly friends couldn’t solve. In a city where it’s constantly cloudy, it was one of the only clear nights. I can’t even remember the first movie, I barely paid attention and was more focused on soaking up how happy I was (but if you were curious, the second one was Hitman’s Bodyguard). My interest was more drawn to how incredibly bright the stars were - I was able to make out constellations for the first time. We had to roll down the back windows (not the front ones too, a science we had to master) and blast the volume to be able to hear it from outside in the back of the truck. My goofy old roommate laid back and passed out, as per usual. I mushed together with two of my best friends, giggling away enjoying each other’s warmth and company. My heart could’ve burst with how happy I was.

Of course, with my friends, we couldn’t have a completely perfect night. Yet even trouble seems to make it all better. The other car broke down and the others had to take the truck to drive to a local store, the closest one still being about a half hour away, to get the proper materials to repair it. We were left alone in this giant field being completely goofs - running around, huddling to keep warm, etc. When the truck came back we swapped to get some warmth and it was never ending silly jokes still, even though we began to get a little grumpy. The night ended with me sprawling out across the laps of my two favorite people in the backseat of the truck, feet tucked under one’s warm legs and head in the lap of another, my face smushed into their stomach, falling asleep.

I was happy. I felt so loved. I felt so much love for them. It was a perfect night. I love my friends so, so much. I never want to forget how that felt.
