1. Hui Muslim people

2. Sinicization

3. the Baiyue

4. history of the Hmong people

5. the Miao rebellions in the Ming dynasty

These aren’t within China proper but offer some insight into how Han people at large treat non-Han people and view Han culture in relation to other Chinese cultures

1. history of indigenous Taiwanese people from like the Ming dynasty on or so (the period of exclusive Dutch rule is still worth looking into, just not as well documented or relevant to this particular discussion)

2. Speak Mandarin Campaign in Singapore

3. just…anything going on in Singapore really (if you want to start small read criticisms of Crazy Rich Asians from Singaporean sources)

4. if you have access to them go through the textbooks that Chinese schools/Chinese as a foreign language classes use esp. in lower levels or whatever their equivalent of elementary school is. Especially if you can get your hands on stuff from a Confucius Institute
