   jonghyun ran a hand through his muddy blond hair. it felt oily and needed to be washed. he could use a very long shower at some point and a large cup of coffee and maybe an eternity of sleep. he was exhausted and felt as if he couldn’t possibly get any lower than he already was. he honestly felt as if he had hit rock bottom.

   when the other returned with the soup, jonghyun couldn’t deny it smelled refreshing. he was starving and needed food to build up his energy. he probably looked as if he hadn’t eaten or slept for days, which he was certain may actually be true. 

     the former knight did not waste a single moment before he began eating. as soon as the soup touched his tongue, he felt better. it made the hunger in him grow and he began to eat faster and with more energy than he had previously shown.

     at the male’s words, he stopped. he glanced down at the soup before looking up at the other, “it is not as if i do not wish to be better, it is that it is impossible.”

    his fingers instinctively went to the choker around his neck, “i physically cannot… disobey…. you may be a god, but the devil’s reach is strong.”

“The most loyal of dogs have been known to bite back when they feel threatened.” The devil huh? He must believe in that egotistial ‘God’ who felt the need to take the general term and make it his name. His condescendence never ceased to amaze him. 

“The concept of ‘satan’ or ‘the devil’ is that of a silly one. He was once a man named Lucifer who had fallen from ‘God’s’ so called paradise that he decides whether or not certain people can go to. It is exceptionally egotistical. The people he believes are ‘sinners’ and unworthy do not go to hell, there is no such thing, they are simply passed on to the universe to become something else, energy is not wasted” he explained, rolling his eyes at the very thought of that fool. “No hell is simply the realization that you have to live through the trials and tribulations of life once again”

Such stupidity.

“I do not come here to tell you what to believe in. I have seen mortals do things that others consider impossible all the time. And if it is that strange necklace that you feel is bothering you. Simply have it removed, or I can remove it for you, the Kusanagi’s edge is sharp and my hand even more steady”

   jonghyun’s brows furrowed. his entire being wanted to deny the other as a god, but since his arrival in fabletown, he knew the possibility. he heard the stories. his faith was shaken enough as it was. his maker was meant to be the only good and he was meant to follow his path and now he sat in front of a god who looked no different than he did. this was a thought for another time. he had to focus on his recovery and questioning his maker was only going to cause more stress.

    he glanced up at the other, listening to the details of his story. they were minor, but they did cause him to think. he was curious to hear more, but again, now was not the time. maybe later.

    freeing himself sounded too good to be true. as the choker around his neck proved, he was nothing more than a pet for yoongi to play with and take advantage of. even the adversary had a hold of jonghyun. it was exhausting and he hated it. the only man he ever wanted to serve was arthur. now that was taken from him and he doubted he would ever get it back.

    “who am i… to argue with a god,” he offered a sad attempt at a smile in return, but it was very minor. he didn’t know what would happen, but for the moment, he was safe where he was and he was going to take the time to get better.

Kyungsoo had returned to his kitchen, stirring the pot of simple soup he had slow cooking the moment he thought Jonghyun might wake up. Perhaps it had a few herbs in it, known for it’s cleansing properties. They were from his homeland and he thought, now was good a time as any to use them. Kyungsoo took a small taste, and decided it was ready enough. Turning down the head on his stove, he took the ladle he had and reached up to grab a bowl from the shelf by the stove. He decided just to start off with a small portion to make sure he could keep it down. He had no idea what the drugs he had in him were doing to his body.  Placing it upon a tray, Kyungsoo carefully brought it back to the room where Jonghyun was. He looked absolutely broken, much like he had when he’d fallen and landed in this mundy world, lost, confused and without any sort of hope.  “Here” Kyungsoo murmured, carefully setting the tray upon his lap. “It is soup, inside of it are herbs known for cleansing the body back in my homeland, I do not have much left, but I believe you need this more than I need a memento” he said, before sitting back down in the chair for a moment, crossing his legs delicately. “You say that you do not intend to argue with a God, but I wish for you to know that I have no intentions of forcing you to be better if you do not wish to be better.”

Loss and Faithlessness

Getting back to her normal routine after a fortnight of lying low, Hyosung was out and about. She actually chose to indulge in her favorite mundy vices: drugs and alcohol. The effects it had on the demon were less severe than they were on mundy, giving her a nice buzz and the feeling of floating. Hyosung was feeling much better and free in her body having fed recently. Hyosung might have ran home but after spending so long barely leaving, she decided to go for a stroll. It was about time she get back to work as well…but she wasn’t yet feeling up to it.

She walked among the tall buildings, admiring them as someone would admire the country side on an all day hike. The city was anything but silent-ever! But Hyosung could mostly ignore most of the noise. She liked to pay attention, though. Some conversations caught her interests a lot more than others. That very night was an occasion when something that didn’t seem right, managed to reach her. Hyosung listened carefully as someone was being threatened for stealing, someone was about to get killed. Hyosung was no hero and she would have ignored the scene all together but something didn’t sound right. Something didn’t sound …mundy enough. Someone was causing chaos and chaos attracted Hyosung like a moth to a light.

Hyosung followed the general direction of the voice and came to a mostly deserted alley. She peeked around the corner as the man spoke a few more times even as he drove a sword through the mundy man. Hyosung recognized him as another fable. She couldn’t know who it was and she had never seen him before. Being more intrigued now than when she first heard what was going on, she stepped out and into the alley. Fearlessly, she walked right up to the man with the sword and raised an eyebrow. “Well, what have we here?” she said, speaking mostly to herself in an ironic comedic tone. For a second Hyosung’s mind registered the smell of blood and it took a bit of strength for her not to ignore the other man and feed once again. After depriving herself for a bit, she was greedier than she’d ever been.

But instead she turned her attention back to the fable before her, wondering what their reasoning for this was.

A dark gaze looked at her over his shoulder, magic dancing behind his eyes that looked like a flame. Without so much as moving, a column of fire descended from the sky and all but erased the man in a matter of moments, there wasn’t even ash to speak of once it had let up, not even a mark was left upon the ground, it was like he hadn’t existed and the fire never happened. No one would have saw it, Kyungsoo was a God after all, manipulation like this was all but child’s play for him.  “Most unfortunate” Kyungsoo said, it wasn’t like he wanted to needlessly killed, but he couldn’t have anyone knowing about this, the last thing he needed was to have to kill the entire police force if they caught on to him. Blood still dripping from his Kusanagi, he turned, walking nearly menacingly at her. He could see the lack of fear in her eyes, and knew she wasn’t at all intimidated by him, perhaps that would change.  “You should have walked away miss, and minded your own business” His blade was clearly at the ready, like he was about to run her through the moment he caught up to her. The blood began to sizzle and smoke as though it was evaporating off his skin and blade, leaving him clean and no trace whatsoever of the man he’d killed moments ago.

“Well hello gorgeous to what do I owe the pleasure?” he asked, a smirk drawn across his face. Kyungsoo frowned, honestly it took a lot for him to infiltrate this damn building especially since guns were involved. Kyungsoo didn’t like guns. Bullets were so much harder to deflect, possible, especially with his Kusanagi but still, a pain in the ass. 

“Security in your building is not all that great for someone of your talents” he said, sheathing his sword as a sign of good will. Perhaps it was bothering him having to wield it so much when he went so long without having to. “I require your assistance” “Well, while I think a cute little thing walking in here high and mighty with a sword is incredibly hot I am unfortunately spoken for. It’s a shame though”  Kyungsoo’s eye twitched at that, the man didn’t exactly seem phased for someone who just took out security. “My name is Amaterasu Omikami, the Great August God Who Shines in The Heavens” Kyungsoo said, not longer bothering with the mundy name he gave himself.“That’s quite the mouthful~”“It is merely a title. You may call me Amaterasu” He didn’t seem phased that he was a God in the least. “Think of it as a mutual partnership, I am planning on taking over the mundy world for myself, but while I can fight, strategy has never been my sort of thing. I have heard whispers of you even in my own homeland before my fall. You are cunning from what I have heard and I wish to...what is it he called it? Become something of your friend. I figured it would be beneficial for both of us. If you can help me, I am certain I would not be difficult for me to return the favor”

“Anything I want huh? As long as I help you become God of this world?” he asked, taking a moment to think on it. “I take it… if I say no I’m going to get up close and personal with that beautiful blade of yours” “As beneficial as that would be for me, I do not wish to kill needlessly. I would grant you a choice, I demand respect from others not fear. Take solace in knowing that if you turn me down, I will walk out of here and you will still have your life”“This is quite the tempting offer…” he said, still thinking on it before giving Kyungsoo a look. “Anything I want is pretty great, and I mean… you’re a God so I’m sure that wouldn’t be hard for you to do in the long run. Alright, I’m sure I can help you” he said, folding his hands together and grinning, looking absolutely relaxed. “A wise decision” Kyungsoo said holding his hand out to the other, he reached up, taking Kyungsoo’s hand in a firm handshake. So far, everything was going Kyungsoo’s way.

but at the end of the day, i'm still the bad guy.

He was going to kill him. 

But there’s something stopping him. There’s something he hadn’t foreseen when he approached this man and that was a feeling that he knew all too well. Something like loneliness. His time in the mundy world had done a number on him, he’d gotten… soft. Perhaps it was Dean, perhaps it was Jonghyun, perhaps it was even the relationship he’d forged with Yoongi despite how fucked up it was. Yet the other looked terrified, his Kusanagi already stained with blood from the last person who’d gotten in his way, yet for some reason he couldn’t bring himself to do anything about it. He sheathed his sword. He knelt down in front of the other, looking him in the eye and giving a soft smile. “I will not hurt you” he said calmly, getting the other to look up at him. “I had honestly been following you for the last few days. I know that you are a wooden soldier, and I was prepared to take your life for it, but perhaps in this aspect I am wrong”Kyungsoo didn’t know what was wrong with him, he was letting his guard down around the other and there was no reason for it. “Who are you?” he asked, Kyungsoo glanced down, able to see a mirror in his hand, a small one. Perhaps he’s glamoured?

“I cannot tell you who I am” Kyungsoo said, sitting down beside him and placing his blade down beside him.  “But why do you not tell me about you instead? You do not seem like a wooden soldier in the least…”He seemed to look a bit sad at that, fiddling with the mirror in his hands, perhaps a sore subject. “I was… alone and he made it so I wouldn’t be alone anymore” Kyungsoo felt a twitch in his heart at that, something familiar, a lonely familiar feeling welling in his chest, he thought of Dean in that moment. Fuck he couldn’t kill him. Even if he wanted to. “That is not a terrible reason” Kyungsoo said, a little softly. “After all, look at me. I renounced my own home and I fully intend on taking the one that is not mine”“You’re… you seem a little scary but you don’t seem bad…” he offered quietly and Kyungsoo chuckled. “I would have to tell you that you are wrong on that aspect. I am a demon with a sweet face… a monster that is not going to stop until I get what I want, even if that means doing thing that people would not agree with…”

There seemed to be something the other was recalling, perhaps a memory he didn’t care for, perhaps a nightmare. “People have called me a monster…” Kyungsoo reached over, placing a hand upon his, releasing a small sigh.“My dear, you are no monster… a monster is someone who has no problem taking the life of an innocent person while their family watches. A monster is someone who takes the only source of light from the world and does not care. A monster is someone who demands respect from people who fear you. A monster is a creature who doesn’t feel as he watches the light leave someone’s eyes… you are no monster… even these few moments speaking with you it is clear to see that”

“You don’t think I’m…?”“Not at all” Kyungsoo stood on his feet, taking his blade with him, he looked to Doha and smiled. “The monster is me”

❝ I’m not yours to lose ! ❞

Kyungsoo stands atop the church, effortlessly perched on one of it’s many spires. He’s looking down at the city, his Kusanagi propped in front of him and his hands resting on the hilt. He had no reason to play nice to this people anymore. It was becoming so clear to him that he was never going to see Susanoo or Tsukuyomi ever again and if that was the case, home wasn’t going to to be home without them. So what was the point of trying to reclaim it? When he could just conquer the mundy world he let himself rot in for the last few years.

He could sense Yoongi.

He lept from the spire, letting himself fall head first towards the ground, shifting his weight midair and effortlessly landing on his feet. Kusanagi still in his hands as he walked into the church. “I assume since you are not screeching at me to leave that your charming bride to be is not here at the immediate moment” “You’d be correct” With that Kyungsoo walks up to him like a familiar lover, pressing a kiss to his lips before glancing at the other. He could see Yoongi eyeing his Kusanagi and Kyungsoo smirked. “Fear not my wayward priest… this is not for you. If I was to betray you, I certainly would not do it like this. But you knew that correct?”

Kyungsoo didn’t like beating around the bush, so he wasn’t going to. “I wanted to inform you that I plan on taking over this world. My homeland is completely and utterly dead to me, and I have grown tired of the mediocre lifestyle I have forced myself to live. People should be bowing and giving praise for the light I shed upon their dull land not serving ungrateful mortals at a hole in the wall diner.” He glanced over at Yoongi and he could see the paranoia crawling underneath his skin, he’d spent too much time with him already, he was already mastering his body language.

“So what are you planning on then?” Oh Kyungsoo knew what he was asking. “Again, fear not, I do not intend to bring any sort of harm to your precious Jeongyeon or your child on the way. I merely wanted to tell you that this was happening, and as long as no one attempts to oppose me, i do not intend to bring them harm” Yoongi seemed to relax on that, of course, as long as Kyungsoo didn’t mess with anything of his, he didn’t care what he did. “Know that depending on how this goes, we may not meet again. I wish to say that if it goes well, we may continue our relationship, but if not… well then, this is good bye” “Good bye? You’re a God, what could go wrong?” there were underlying tones, he could tell that he wasn’t exactly happy with the prospect of never seeing him again, but this is Yoongi, he’d never admit it and Kyungsoo was fine with that. “Plenty, I am a God, but not immortal.” “Kyungsoo-”“Let us not create pretenses” Kyungsoo reached up, caressing his cheek and looking him in the eye, allowing himself to show weakness, to show emotions.  “I was never yours and you were never mine. We both know that it was a miracle we made it this far together and if things go the way they should it would be a miracle for us to remain. You are a God in mortal flesh, with a family on the way, a woman I presume you will end up marrying and a child to be born and fathered. I am the God of Gods, Amaterasu Omikami, deity of the sun and sky. You and I… perhaps in another life maybe… I would like to think that we would become something together. It is most certainly not love, nothing so pure and innocent. But it is clear to me, over and over, each time we ravage one another, that despite the connection it was simply not meant for this world or this life.”

Kyungsoo dropped his hand, taking a step back and turning to walk out of the church. “Perhaps in another world or another life, I can call you mine, but it is not this one”

“That is quite enough of your sobbing..” Kyungsoo said softly, his beloved Kusanagi brandished at his side as the man cowered before him. He’d already given him what he’d stolen back, his beautiful jewel Yasakani. Pick pocketed by this now unfortunate man who was crying and begging for his life. He was about to pay the price, and despite the fact that Kyungsoo’s face was calm on the outside, there had been storm brewing inside of him.  “You will pay for your transgressions against me, and for the theft of a holy relic, your life is the price you must pay” He said softly, after a small prayer in his native tongue, the man attempted to get up, turning to run, only to have a sword run through him, dead center in his chest.  “I did not say you could leave yet”  Kyungsoo twisted the blade as a shrilled cry released from the mans lips, blood dripping from his beautiful blade, such a shame... he’d just had it cleaned too. The blade was sharp enough that with the slightest effort he was able to drag the blade down his torso before ripping it free, blood splattering across the walls and Kyungsoo’s own body, which he burned with his own fire magic until it dissipated from him.  Kyungsoo watched with a cold expression as the mans own insides began to spill out of him, blood pooling underneath him as Kyungsoo finally knelt down, picking up his precious jewel and placing it in is pocket.  “Fear not, I do not intend to leave you like this, I will burn you with the heat of the sun until there is not even ash to speak of” he said, the man having been long gone and nothing but a corpse. Standing again, Kyungsoo flicked the blood from his blade, looking down at the corpse.  “Such a shame...” he said looking to his blade. “It will take me ages to purify this again...”

   jonghyun used his elbow to push himself up, moving into a sitting position. his hand went to his forehead for a moment as he closed his eyes. he tried to settle himself before he actually spoke. it was better than just speaking. who knew what would come up that weren’t words. he felt like his stomach was empty, but that didn’t mean he would retch again.

   he opened his eyes, staring off into space. he did deserve his fate after what he did. his own guilt led him to this. it was his own guilt towards arthur, for the feelings he had that ripped his life apart and he feared admitting his truths. he knew people would not approve of his actions. if he couldn’t, how could anyone else. he wished he could do more.

    “you reap what you sow,” jonghyun retorted with a small nod of his head. he frowned, his face warped in pain and grief, “thank you… for finding me… and bringing me somewhere safe, but this is a fate i have given to myself… it is less than i truly deserve. i wish… i could free myself… but the fear of what would follow… “

    he wrapped an arm around himself for a moment and closed his eyes. this was his own self punishment, but it may not ever be enough.

“You say this” he said, looking down at his own lap as he thought about what he’d done. “You say there is no salvation for you, that you should be punished for the things you have wrought. I see it as this...” he said, finally looking up at the other, as though he were looking into his tired soul. Kyungsoo could see it, a man who didn’t want to do this anymore but felt he had no choice.  “As a God, even I have made mistakes, some that I was simply too prideful to admit, and threw everything into Chaos because of it... I have destroyed stars and planets, brought total darkness to the world... I have made grave mistakes that no one but myself could repair. The drug you take, is a demon whispering in your ear, telling you that you are not worth it and this is the fate you deserve... I have heard his whisper too” he said, standing up again, deciding it was time to make him something to eat.  “However, any fate can be changed. I simply do not believe we are all predestined with something we cannot change. Your fate is what you make it. Fear is a natural reaction to something, and it is okay to feel it, but to let it rule you and shape who you are is unacceptable, you are a knight, the equivalent to a samurai in my homeland. Someone who is supposed to be fearless. I see you as you are now, you simply need to find the strength to break the cage you or someone else has placed around you.” Kyungsoo walked towards the door way, stopping for a moment and turning to look at the other, for the first time a small smile gracing his lips.  “Besides, what have you to fear when you have a God on your side?”

Seokjin gently took the apron and the other two objects from the elder’s grasp. Quickly tying the apron around him as he’s used to the feeling of wearing one at work, he held the notepad and pen, waiting for further instruction. Nodding, “Understood.” He glances to where the couple was mentioned in Kyungsoo’s instructions. Taking note of their body language as they surveyed the menu, scanning it with their eyes. Glancing back to the god, he nods to display his understanding. “Of course, I’ll gladly do so with the best of my ability.” He said respectfully.

“I anticipate your further instructions. And please, I do not mind if you scold me gently or lecture me. I am learning after all in a whole day or shift. It’s not rude of you. You’re just doing your job.” He says softly to Kyungsoo before giving him a thin best attempted smile. “Is there anything else I should be aware before I start, Kyungsoo ssi?” He asks politely, hoping that there was something else. But it seems as so he felt confident.

“Nothing, just remember to be polite” This wasn’t the first time he had to train someone. In fact ever since the first person he trained, they’d decided to send everyone to him. He’d say he didn’t mind, but some people were unbearably stupid and his patience for them simply ran thin.  He really hoped this one was not the case.  Looking at the couple he could tell they were ready to order, they’d put their menu down and begun to talk and Kyungsoo was already going to start timing him to see how long it took him to get this basic thing down. One table was nothing, it was when you were balancing multiple tables where it became complicated.  Next he was going to teach him how to actually put the order in and what to do while he waited, he had other tables he needed to be at right now, but he needed to make sure he was okay with the basics before he ran off.

The change in tone and frown that graced the other’s features were the first signs that he had that the man might have not realized he was mute. But he did not point it out yet, still too focused with making sure his materials were all safe. Of course, that not of observation had made his level of aggravation grow too but he did not let it hinder him yet. Plus, it would be simpler if he just wrote on his book to express the words rather than guess whether the waiter knew how to lip read ( highly unlikely due to the previous reaction ) or sign language ( which he couldn’t do at all unless he wanted his items to get soggy ).

So he lets the man clean up the table first but when the other stopped halfway, looked at him and asked a question he couldn’t help but roll his eyes and let out a deep sigh. Since the table has yet to be fully clean he decided to just speak with no hope of the other actually realizing what he said ( but he strongly hoped that the man wasn’t so idiotic that he would realize that he was actually a mute ) ‘I’m mute and I’m pretty sure that you’d only understand what I’m saying once I get to write on this book.’

He waited for the other’s reaction with a blank face and wished that he didn’t have to do any interactions like such. When he was the Dullahan—everything was so much more easier and he did not need to bother with the idea of responding to people in any way or form. Now, though, he had to actually interact and live with these people who’s bound to die anyways. Oh, how he wished he could just throw basins of blood or whip such nuisances in the eyes with his spine whip without having someone try to send him to jail for it ( which they probably couldn’t if he took out his chariot—unless they were a fable who was extremely fast or the sort ).  

Now when the others mouth moved and words didn’t form. He looked at his mouth, he crossed his arms, and despite the words he didn’t seem to budge on his expression. Was he supposed to feel like a jerk or something? Because if he was he hadn’t gotten the memo. “Regardless of being mute or not” he said. “I had not meant to drop the soda upon your booth, your reaction was exceptionally rude and I would like an acknowledgement for my apology and quick work to fix my mistake.” he said, looking exceptionally more annoyed.  “Or perhaps you think that being disabled excuses you from having manners?” Kyungsoo had absolutely no qualms telling the other this. Where he came from, manners and etiquette were everything. It took him an exceptionally long time to get used to people not bowing around here. When you weren’t respectful back in his homelands it was practically causes for death in some cases.  But like hell he was going to let the most basic form of manners to go, he didn’t care who it was. 

“You are mute and not deaf, so I do expect some form of acknowledgement or is this difficult for you?”

    jonghyun watched the other leave before he allowed himself the alone time to reach for his phone that rested on the night stand. he found no messages from yoongi, so he guessed his benefactor hadn’t noticed his disappearance, but the two of them made no plans to meet each other anyways. in due time, yoongi would call on him for something, but jonghyun would be indisposed for a few days. the other wouldn’t be pleased, but jonghyun found he didn’t care enough.

    he glanced up when the other male returned. jonghyun sat his phone back down so he could focus solely on the other. his brows furrowed at the male’s demand of secrecy. the former knight couldn’t say he would expect anyone to ask him for the male’s identity, nor did he had any reason to say who he was. even as the other told him, jonghyun couldn’t think of anyone who would ask about him. however, he never met a god before. he had heard there were gods in fabletown, but many kept their identity a secret.

   “i will address you by kyungsoo,” jonghyun stated with a small nod. as someone who was already on the fence about his faith, meeting an actual god created many questions, so for his own sanity, he did not want to address the other by his godly name. jonghyun still wanted some peace of mind.

   eyeing the other for a moment longer, he looked down, “ser lancelot du lac of camelot. a knight of the round table and protector of king arthur, the true king of camelot…”

    the title he heard many say in his past sounded foreign, almost as if it was taboo to even say. the feeling along made him feel sick again, but he managed to keep the bile down. he took a deep breath, “it has taken… everything i held dear away… and even though i am… aware of this… it sings… to me… like a siren….”

    it may have sounded like a metaphor, but to jonghyun, he could hear the remains singing to him. if he were to return home, he would hear the hidden vials in his apartment sing so much louder.

“As you wish” he said, as he told him his preferred name to call him. Kyungsoo was fine with that. he sat quietly, listening to the other speak, and Kyungsoo found that perhaps his case was a little more worse off than he thought. He’d heard of similar things back at home.  Honestly why he gave a shit about a man he literally pulled out of the garbage was something of a mystery to him. Perhaps he was becoming weak hearted.

“A knight?” he said surprised and frowned, but this frown didn’t look like one of anger, but disappointment. “My how far you have fallen... from knighthood to this.” he said before releasing a sigh.  “Though I suppose I am no better.” he said closing his eyes in thought for a moment. “A knight does not deserve whatever it is you are going through and while it is an escape now, it will ultimately be your undoing. If you have someone you care about, believe me that the state I found you in would be heartbreaking to anyone close to you... perhaps it is time you attempt to destroy that which has destroyed you” Perhaps he should take his own advice sometime.  “I do not have much I can do for you, but while you are here, I will help you with what I can”
