On the surface of Minmus the mining operation begins with the central mining lander. It can store some fuel and ore but not a lot. As it’s generating fuel it will also fill up the connected rovers.
The long skinny rover was my first attempt at fuel transfer but was too small to carry out the refuelling missions efficiently. The bigger orange rover has the same capacity as the fuel transfer lander at the space station so they are a perfect match. It also happens to hold the same amount of fuel as the interplanetary transfer vehicle. and above all that it was made to allow for the transfer of cargo boxes (as seen strapped to the front) and a few kerbals can ride on top of it.
I have also installed the Planetary base mod and placed the core habitation module right next to the mining unit. This is where a few pilots and engineers are housed. Engineer kerbals are required to attach parts and move cargo from the KIS mod. This base allows for expansion as well.
