You know what I want? I want the kind of love where they hold your hand, kiss your nose, and call you beautiful without having to think about it. I want the kind of love where they tag you in corny post because they were thinking about you. I want the kind of love where they let you talk about the same thing for the third time that week and still pretend to be interested. I want the “let me walk on the side closest to the street” kind of love. I want the real love. The raw love. The caresses your cheek as you sleep at two am, because you look so at peace kind of love. The “I show you I love you without saying I love you” kind of love. The kind of love that you don’t have to ask for. The kind of love you just receive.

they warn that you can’t make people into home, but when your arms wrap around me, i swear its   the house i grew up in. i doubt a kiss can predict the future, but when our lips meet, i swear i can taste the next seven years and a studio apartment. i know that people aren’t medicine but sometimes when you’re here i can forget i’m sick. i know you’re not supposed to write of new love, but when i touch the pen to paper, the words flow like i held them in for years. i never really believed in soulmates and i guess i still don’t, but i have faith that my body was built to fit so comfortably next to yours in the bed that i never let anyone sleep in.

Dear new girl, He will tell you everything you’ve ever wanted to hear. He’ll call you at 3 am just to leave a voicemail on your phone so you wake up knowing that you are so so loved. You’ll spend hours laying in bed, laughing at youtube videos and the way he pronounces Massachusetts. He’ll make you dinner because he wants to impress you. Ask for his broccoli because it’s the best, even if you despise vegetables. You’ll watch him dance around the kitchen and you’ll picture your future together and you’ll feel the overwhelming need to kiss him. He’ll laugh with you about wanting to name your child something from his favorite video game. You’ll compromise on “Link.” He will never make you question for a second that there is a future without him. Then he’ll stop calling. He’ll hang out with people who aren’t you. He’ll text you “I love you” over and over again just to fill the silence and distract from the fact that despite how many times he tells you, he no longer thinks he loves you. Then one day, out of the blue, he’ll break your heart. And try as you might, you won’t be able to stop loving him.
