[ Sooo... Iâd been intending to come back today and do a few drafts since I havenât been here in a while, but before I woke up I was hit with the update and now... to be honest it kills the motivation when I have to put a lot of effort into responses that donât actually have to do with the responses.
I donât really want to deal with it, tbh, so Iâm following my other half off and away from here for a bit to copy all my important things onto google docs and delete like a crap ton of blogs that donât make a difference here. But Iâll be on Skype (telethryl) and mutuals are welcome to come say hi or write or whatever, just let me know who you are so I can keep everything straight. ]

Year 1: A Legend Returns
It was with eagerness that Kai followed in the footsteps of parents fifteen years passed, charging forward through that barrier that separated the ordinary from the extraordinary.Â
Wonderment would not be leaving his face anytime soon, he knew, not when he gazed upon that massive train through the throng of people occupying the platform. Massive and black, trimmed in crimson, and puffing grey cloud from its front, the Hogwarts Express was there to loom over both student and family alike with its brilliance. This train, this train right here, would be taking him from this station and off into the countryside, to the sight of a stone castle that had made itself known in more than a few stories by his grandparents.
He would have hopped right on down the platform had a large, wizened hand not landed on his shoulder to stop him. Amber turned onto the much older man, his grandfather, before shifting to his grandmother beside him. âMom and dad actually took this train, too?â Kai knew, of course. Over the course of his life heâd been told many times of the place his mother and father met. A magical school that he would one day attend, as well.
His grandmother nodded, a smile on crinkly lips. âYes, seven years in a row.â
No amount of gentle nudging could keep him in place, his imagination running alongside his legs to get a better look at the platform around him. Everywhere there were trunks and students, cats and birds and small animals to take up the arms of their owners or packed away within sturdy cages. Proud parents, bored parents, excitable children, those that looked like they wanted to get it over with.
A kiss was given to both grandmother and grandfather and then he was off, climbing his way onto the train with his trunk clunking behind him, caged kitten making irritated noises every few inches. On the train felt about as busy as off of it, forcing him to dodge around boys and girls that hung out of the little cabins, until he finally managed to slip into one that was far emptier than the others.Â
He flashed a smile to the sole occupant of the car, hand rubbing at the back of his neck. The other boy couldnât have been more than a year or two ahead of him, assuming he was older at all, and looked to be about the kind of person that didnât want a load of company. Welp, good thing it was just Kai. âMind if I stay in here with you?â

Has Difficult Friends:

âShe sounds like such a delightful person to have around. Especially when sheâs.. gnawing on peopleâs armsâŠâ he sighed lightly, mentally thanking whatever higher power that was listening that Kale or Lydia wasnât like that. âI guess⊠itâs a good tatic⊠but still kind of bothersomeâŠâ he replied as he tilted his head slightly. The guy did make a good point, but how the heck did you throw Kale off guard? âGuess it also takes some creative thinking as well? Like what do you throw at a guy thatâs likely able to counter you?â
His head bopped to the side, back and forth. âHm. For someone like that, youâd have to get really creative. Like... try to come up with something he wouldnât be expecting, yâknow? Kinda hard to counter something you didnât think would ever happen.â It would kinda be a test to see how well he knew the man he wasnât to catch off-guard, because if he didnât know the guy well enough it would be nearly impossible to catch a person like that the way that was wanted.Â
Crashed on Earth
bloodyrogues:

â€Sound. The human was making sounds. Was he trying to communicate with him? The alien watched the strange creature in confusion. He felt pain in his right leg. The white blood was gushing down from a wound there. He takes a minute to remember the human language. He had learned it, when he was given the chance. Maybe the human was in shock at seeing the alien crash? It didnât really matter to the slave. He coughs, trying to breath through the smoke. ââŠ.CrashâŠ.â He points down, âEarthâŠâ He scoops up the white liquid and shows it to the human, âB-BloodâŠ.h-hurtâŠâ Could the human understand him?âą
That was... blood? Well shit. That was a lot of blood, if that was the case. Like everywhere. It would have been better for the other manâs health if it had been paint, but then again people were never lucky creatures by default. âIf thatâs your blood... then I probably shouldnât go taking you to a hospital.â Sounded like  a bad idea.
Kai was going to have to set aside his creeping trepidation for the knowledge that whatever the man was, he was totally not in the condition to do anything dangerous. Yet. Maybe he should be calling the air force or the marines or something. Area 51. Was there a number to call for CIA?
Ah, whatever. Hurt was hurt and that was what mattered. If he ended up attacked by the time this was over because he knew too much, then he would know he went and made the wrong decision. âMy house is down the hill a ways... if you want help with that hurt. I can... I can try to help as best I can.âÂ
Itâs a Myth:
kuahaka:
â ⊠Iâm a nymph, â Her words were unsteady in the air, threatening to fall at any second if she wasnât careful, â I can travel through bodies of water much faster than humanly possible. I know⊠I know that sounds insane and you probably think I should get to an asylum but itâs the truth. I swear it. â
A nymph, huh? Now that was an answer he wasnât expecting, though a much more natural one that what he had been. At least it was from the same planet, if he recalled his mythology correctly. âHere I was ready to think you were an alien. Nymph is way cooler, all around.â That was like some kind of water sprite thing, right? Maybe. âMust be easy to end up on the wrong continent when you can just go through the water on your own.â

The disturbance on the hill goes all but unnoticed to the sea serpent in the briny waters. His back was towards the shore, since there was hardly ever an occasion he had to watch for intruders, and his work was much too important to him to waste time guarding this place from humans. Gathering ingredients for his potions and harvesting pearls from oysters, as well as catching his lunch, those were his priorities.
Jor had decided today he would spend his day checking on the pearl oysters by the rocky islands. It was a rare chore, only once every six months or so, but it was one of his favorites, because he always came home with beautiful little treasures. It didnât take him long to pry them all open and fish out their lustrous little gems, and start them making pearls over again.
He deposits his treasures into his pack where it hangs just below his gills, and takes a moment to stretch out in the open water before the sight of the deep dark depths ahead urges him back towards the shore, and his cave. Itâs as heâs breaking through the waterâs surface that he finally notices the human standing at the edge of the shore.
Itâs a rare occurrence, but not one that really surprises Jor. Every once in a while a human comes to his cove, having heard of the sea witch who made amazing potions, so Jor could only assume he was the same. So he musters up some hospitality, and a smile.
      âHello. Do you need something?â
That... was about the last thing he expected to see popping out of the sea.
Some sort of serpent, though the surfer was hesitant to use the word merman. Those werenât supposed to exist. Yeah, well, tell that to my eyes. Because right now he was going to go with they very much existed, amber eyes trailing across gills with open fascination. This cove was supposed to be his new spot to search for marine life... not find something that wasnât supposed to be exist.
âI... uh....â Nope, there went the half-constructed sentence heâd decided could be finished once he began saying it, dying in his throat to allow only a small noise to surface. All right. Kai really needed to regroup and come up with something coherent to say, lest he look like an idiot forever. It wasnât as if the other was acting surprised, so why couldnât he get over the sight long enough to talk like a normal person?
Deep breath. âHi. I was just here to... do some diving and surfing.â That was a good start. Maybe he wouldnât come off as dumb as he thought he did. âBut I wasnât expecting anyone else to be here, so if Iâm interrupting anything I can find a new spot.â Like one of the many tiny beaches along the coast that wasnât inhabited by a creature he could feel the desperate need to know more about rising.
He didnât want to leave now. No way in hell. He would for fear of the other getting upset with his presence, of course, no matter how much his feet would rather step forward that backward.
A Lesson in Victimology

Sindre gave his loverâs head a small kiss, pressing soothing noises against his skin. âIt happens with a lot of shadier people. Do you know how many prostitutes get killed or kidnapped every week but no one cares or even brings it up? May too fucking many.â Probably not the best thing to mention, but it was a nice and brief distraction. âTheyâll notice though⊠with you. Upstanding college boy⊠theyâll notice.â
Kai wanted his affection, so he would gladly give it to him and help hold them together. His lips never strayed too far once Kai had let it known he wanted him to stay close. ââŠYeah. Weâre in trouble.â The Hawaiian didnât have the full info yet of just how in trouble they were. âLike some serious trouble, Kai.âÂ
He let the other man work out things in his head. âHe brushed our hair too. It had to have been a long ass time on mine to be so tangle free. I⊠think he even trimmed my nails.â Sindre let out a semi-steady breath and shook his head as if it could help shake the troubling thoughts.
âKai he even fed me lunch. Like he held the spoon. Itâs fuckinâ messed up.â And it was starting to make his stomach churn. âI⊠Itâs all so fucked up. After that he got all up on me, but it was so tame. So fuckinâ tame and gentle I donât even⊠he didnât even last two seconds before he was going on about how it wasnât right because⊠he didnât have the set.â Now he had the set⊠didnât he?
Truly it was messed up how many people were overlooked simply because of their social status. Everyone had something about them that made them important, especially Sindre. He was amazing in pretty much every way; Kai couldnât think of a reason why the police would be adamant about not caring when he was gone.Â
Unfortunately, if was impossible to dwell on that for long.
The more words that filled the air the more dread welled up inside of him. Thinking of him trying to get up on Sindre was enough to make him want to flee as fast as he could, knowing what was likely to come for the later on, but... but wanting them as a set just sunk a chill into his bones. They werenât a set, unless you counted how close theyâd been recently.
âHe sounds like a creepy stalker or something... almost like-â Kai broke off, falling utterly silent. It sounded so painfully similar to the theories heâd heard circulating campus months before, winding around each department and sending worry through the students. The similarities forced the thought to forefront of his mind, impossible to miss by all means and more terrifying than the past worries heâd had.
Oh no. This was not good. âAlmost like... that... that thing everyone was talking about a while back.â His lip was pulled between teeth, red marks worried into its surface. âThat guy? Who got kidnapped a few months back, in like March?â The police had all sorts of alerts and things out for him. â...he wound up dead. Do you... do you think thatâs going to happen to us?â
