Take a Look at the premier issue of New Época Magazine. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into this bad boy. I have a couple more topics I would be really interested in exploring in the future of the magazine, but I am really excited about this start.
The User Feedback
After meeting with various Cuban-Americans, and Americans I got some really great user feed back regarding content, materials, deliverables, and overall branding.
Started from the bottom and now we are here. As time has progressed, I felt that my thesis needed a branding overhaul from the previous semesters. After much time and effort here is the new brand and new name for my thesis. New Época, which is spanglish for, “New Era” which is fitting as the relationship between the United States and Cuba is now reaching a new era of relationship.
In a historic press conference, Obama not only allowed Castro to be pressed on political prisoners. He joined in himself. By EDWARD-ISAAC DOVERE
HAVANA — In Cuba, just having a press conference is news.
President Barack Obama jokes that he likes press conferences and wants to do more of them, let them go on longer. That tends to be less the case at the White House than abroad, when Obama’s trying to make a point about a repressive regime by turning to the press.
He did it in China in 2013 by giving a New York Times reporter a question to Xi Jinping right after the government in Beijing had kicked out a reporter from the newspaper. He did it in Ethiopia last year when he forced the journalist-jailing prime minister to stand next to him for a long press conference where Obama talked about the country’s record on human rights and held forth on American politics.
Monday afternoon here in Havana, he did it to Raúl Castro, right in the Revolutionary Palace, letting him be pressed with questions for the first time — ever — and joining in himself. And not just that: he had to answer for the political prisoners that the government rounds up almost daily, but denies exist at all.
The rum first was super frustrating, until I had a glass of it (oops?). Anyways, now I have a couple options of colors I could potentially go for. My personal favorite is the kraft paper. It just feels much more expensive than the others, and looks better too.
Colors Magazine, a magazine about the rest of the world.
So lets be honest here. I took a semester off of my thesis, and needed to regroup and reconsider my designs before this point. The last semester I worked on this (summer 2015) I was on 3 month creative roadblock. I couldn’t get the visuals I wanted and was stuck.
Coming back I am rejuvenated. My biggest spark of inspiration is definitely Colors magazine. I have attached the link so you can check it out as well. Its no longer in publication unfortunately, but you can find the bound books of the magazine on amazon.
American Airlines’ Howard Kass is hopeful that the airline will be flying regularly scheduled service between the United States and Cuba within the first half of this year and says Miami will play a big role in resumption of commercial flights to the island.
This is great news. Many of my friends and colleagues have asked me about this and its great that I can finally tell them that flights will begin scheduled flights between the two countries.
A year after relations with America began to thaw, people are leaving the island in droves, impatient at the speed of change and fearing entry may soon be barred
“Cubans have since 1966 been able, unlike any other Latinos, to show up at an established US port of entry, declare their nationality, and enter the country. But with the new agreement, they fear that policy may end.”
