had to fight for my life this new years trying to defend charmy bee so uh heres a rant about charmy hate i told my friend plus the screenshots from what sparked all this yay

a big thing people use to defend charmy hate is the fact that 'cream is his age and she isnt annoying' which like. yeah. cream is his age. but she was also raised by a kind mature women, her biological mother, in a village community.

charmy was raised by a crocodile and a chameleon who themselves are a bit immature-- they are also lonely and poor. its a big thing for their characters that they are technically a struggling household of a grown man, a teen boy, and a toddler

alot of people, despite it being super obvious, dont seem to understand the psycological effects enviroment of which a child is raised has on said kids.

kids grow up based on their surroundings, they adapt.

cream has had a completly different life from charmy, she was RAISED BY HER MOTHER AND THOSE AROUND HER to be polite!

charmy quite literally only has vector and espio! of course he's gonna be different because he grew up in a different enviroment- politeness isnt something you really worry about when you are struggling! you are worrying about staying alive!!! and who knows what the chaotix have been through??

thats why using cream to justify charmy hate makes no sense to me

(all this started cuz someone was being a bit rude to me and another charmy person to the point where it was making me feel upset)

Hello, Charmy Bee fan here ^•⩊•^ and totally agree Another factor is the obvious favoritism shown towards Cream and Tails in design, personality, and plot contribution compared to Charmy. Since the other two don't usually act like children (which isn't that important, even if they both can and do act like kids in many moments), they tend to be separated from more common childlike behaviors by the sonic fandom Also, the fact that they're often seen as more "cute" in comparison. And unfortunately, this leads to Cream being paired with Shadow in comics or media (despite their limited interaction) because one is more beloved, and because it lends itself to the "Grumpy and Sunshine" dynamic. Charmy, in comparison (even if Tails and Cream are favorites), has a lot of traits that are lost over time. Charmy has more childlike qualities, making him keen on discovering things others don't see—and he's equally skilled (in a more reckless way) at fighting! (Literally attacked Eggman) And he's more of a "sidekick" type who follows what the cool guys do and admires them, but at the same time acts like a kid who also teases or is childish. Charmy has a more spunky background compared to other characters (it's the idea of Team Chaotix: to be a bit of losers despite having good abilities), which obviously makes the bee more unpredictable and even curious!

and obviously it influences into charmy and shadow being removed from their possible bond... DESPITE CHARMY, EVEN IF DIDN'T INTEND TO, PUT THE VIDEO THAT MADE SHADOW KNOW GERARDS INTENTIONS IN STH 05

I think it's funny to think that Charmy is maybe smarter than any of the other kids, with Tails being the exception. Not book smart, but he knows what taxes are and the basics of how they work, so he knows more things about money than the average child thanks to being in a situation where money is always on the line for the Chaotixs. While he is still six, he will definitely pick up some street smart knowledge, too.

I'm saying that Charmy is not a dumb kid, childish yes, but he is definitely more than what we initially perceived, thanks to the environment he grew up in.

#I think a big part of charmy is being the tracker. the one with the big ideas and assumptions for the cases #and has many possibilities by how correct it is #also how he'd say “and that's tax reluctable!” and probably leaves people questioning how he knows that. btw long live the bee

my ass is too tired to write or draw rn, but i still want to rant so

this is from a silly perspective with no ill-will, but i am genuinely surprised that people in some parts of the sonic fandom REALLY think that charmy has brainrot or is an ipad baby

do. do you think. that charmy has accessibility to any other tech device in his home that is not the shitty always-buffering tv in the chaotix’s cramped living room, and or the old telephone on vector’s office desk that’s only used for calling clients. that little guy has not seen anything on a screen that wasn’t cable tv dated kids shows; you KNOW vector isn’t paying for anything else that isn’t food, the phone bill, the water bill or the electricity bill—and that includes internet in the home. he ain’t paying for no phone or ipad, nuh uh, not while they can’t even afford basic necessities

the little bee definitely also prefers physical play over just watching something and sitting kinda still. there is SO much pep and energy in that small body, he needs to move and get it all out and fly around and move his arms while drawing—he probably wouldn’t like just watching something for long periods of time. he wanna moooooove.

istg if you said “skibidi” infront of charmy, he would probably get scared and think you were possessed before he’d call for espio or vector to beat the ghost out of you.

so. yeah. charmy is most definitely not an ipad brainrotted kid, not when the chaotix are quite literally struggling to afford food and /w also type of child the little bee is 👍

#I think others in the fandom imagine it because Charmy is considered a representation of a small child #also they think that honey = sticky for some reason (it's one of those hc that I understand but don't share)#or on few occasions he watches Columbo or something and would be seen next to Vector when they have the minimum cable connection #but Charmy is a tremendously brave child #there is a video of a guy kicking a toilet and breaking it #Charmy goes all out for the skibidi if he finds one #and like. dude.#he's a bee boy. he gets excited and buzzes when he finds sunflower fields and #although he doesn't like to study and gets dizzy at heights (source.
