Her rage momentarily faltered as unease, a sensation and feeling she disliked intensely and one that was quite rare for her, slid down her and swirled in her stomach as she detected a slight change in the male and noted the darkening of his irises. And had his hair always looked like that? She hadn’t taken much notice of his appearance aside from his height initially, her anger at him and her fight for control over herself had distracted her somewhat but she was sure he hadn’t had so many dark streaks through his hair.
She took his smirk as a challenge however and it stabilized her anger and overrode the dim warning flashing in the back of her mind. This guy was trying to intimidate her was he? Unforgivable. The touch of his finger along her cheek had her jaw clenching tightly so that she wouldn’t give into her urge to bite said finger right off. When he stepped closer to her, she curled her hands into fists but did not step back as most people would do, not even when she saw those deadly looking fangs.
Just what the hell was he? There was something off about him and definitely something dangerous. Her healing magic allowed her to sense differences and anomalies within people’s bodies and as such, she could tell that this stranger wasn’t human (the fangs were quite a giveaway to that point too). Was he one of those Tartaros demons she had heard about? Most people in this situation would be scared of him she was sure, they would back away nervously and try get themselves as far away as they could. But she wouldn’t and couldn’t do that.
Her competitive, stubborn nature often got in the way of her intelligence and this was one of those times. She wasn’t going to let him intimidate her or let his threats have any sort of affect on her and she wasn’t going to back down or try escape his presence. She would definitely hold onto her control, it would deny this thing in front of her the satisfaction of making her do whatever he probably wanted her to do, right? Whether that be for her to be scared or for her to rise to his taunting words. And besides, keeping control of her violent impulses would make Lyon proud, wouldn’t it? And she always wanted that.
Slowly, she relaxed her tight fists, a breath leaving her as she did so. Her high level of magic always showed itself by playing with ends of her hair (which was the reason for it being somewhat coarse in texture), fluttering it about even when no natural breeze was around. She noticed now that the movement of her bright locks had been considerably wilder than usual, and she immediately ceased the flow of magic that was normally subconscious. It was like a valve had been closed inside her, already she could feel her magic building and bubbling. He had remarked that she might burst, the comment was closer to the truth than he probably realised.
She tilted her head back a fraction to meet his unsual eyes, a vicious storm brewing within her own, reflected in the sapphire hues. Her smile held traces of a smirk but she maintained the appearance of innocence as best she could.
“Anger?” she repeated, as if she had no idea what he was talking about, “I’m not angry, just a little annoyed maybe.”
The smile on her lips became sweeter and her features shifted slightly to show concern, “But if you think I might burst, maybe you shouldn’t stand so close? I wouldn’t like it if something was to happen to you because of me.”
Oh he could feel it all, her irritation swelling in anger so beautifully honed in his direction that it swept over him, would’ve cut him like a blade had he been anyone else, the surge in Power he felt confined within her tiny, tiny body and the fierce pride that seemed to radiate off her like the sun. Then there was that fake innocence in those beautiful eyes, perhaps he’d keep her as a trophy after he’d had enough fun with her as a toy.
Hand moving to grip her chin, a featherlight touch that held whispers of the harshest violence, his eyes glowed a blood-red crimson that you’d expect to find dripping from his fangs had he been one of those famous vampires the humans seemed to covet so much. He was much scarier than those fables, the real man who belonged to the nightmares, and just because he was ‘leashed’ for the moment didn’t make him any less terrifying if they knew the truth.
He and Eleazar had tortured hundreds, tearing them apart limb from limb as they smiled and laughed, their lives meant nothing to them -- it was nothing but a game. This human in front of him was viewed no different to him, she was a toy that would provide him with amusement for a time and when he grew bored with her, he had his ways of getting rid of her in any way he saw fit.
It was what drew the deep, eerie, chuckle out of him, his grip on her chin tightening slightly, he leaned down further until his face was just above hers. He was aware of the fact most of the more intelligent humans had given them a wide birth, in fact, the street now appeared devoid of the disgusting species aside from the few stupidly brave and the firecracker who stood in his grip.
Then, because he was having more fun than he’d had in a century, he allowed his own Power to flare up around him in a suffocating blanket that surrounded them, his hair darkened to a near black, his bangs being the only part that remained white, as he allowed her to witness the monster who resided within. If she continued to stand her ground, even though he could squash her like he might a bug ( yes she might prove to be a little more difficult but still a bug nevertheless ), she may just earn her place after he decided she was no longer entertaining.
He wasn’t so much of a bastard that he wouldn’t take into account the service she’d be giving him.
“Go ahead and burst then, little one. You can’t hurt me but oh how I’d love to see you try ~” and the statement couldn’t have been more accurate, he wanted to witness this small girl blow up and then watch as she tried to put the pieces back together.
Ennui was such a bore after all but after having been alive for nearly four centuries, still young in comparison to some Angels -- like that fool Gabrijel who had been alive for nearly a millennia, but this human would suffice and maybe she’d lead him to others like her. Allowing his Magic to settle back, his hair going back to its normal grey with black streaks, he smirked at her knowing he was the predator in this situation and she was the prey.
“Just be careful with battles you couldn’t even begin to hope to win.”
