I think one of the funniest things you can do in fantasy is write characters who are, like, from completely different genres and styles of fantasy. Like they do live in the same world, which works by the same rules, they just look at it from different perspectives.

Like there’s this Epic High Fantasy Legendary Warrior who’s all like “I was born to serve. My oath binds my honour and my honour binds my soul. I am only a sword in the hands of my masters, their word is my law, I am to serve them, without thought or hesitation, until death and once beyond.”

And the Ordinary Dude From Gritty City sitting next to her lowers his bong like “dude no offense but that’s kinda fucked up.”
